Whalesong House and Garden

Centrally located in Trinidad, our comfortable 3 bdm home is walking distance to the Beach, Restaurants, Trinidad Art Gallery, Shops and more.

Crafted of heart redwood, Whalesong House is a charming two-story, 3 bedroom (2 Q, 2 T) home with a compact, yet well-equipped, full kitchen, an adjacent dining area, and a living room with a large TV. A designer’s delight, this rental is lavishly landscaped with an enclosed, rear Rhododendron garden. Designed by one of the owners, the three-foot spherical fountain, Global Peace, which punctuates the dozens of heathers, lavenders, and ornamental grasses in the front garden, has become a Trinidad landmark. And Byrd Baker, the “old-timer” from Mendocino, who, in his small skiff, once blocked a Japanese whaling ship, carved the driftwood whale insignia, which hangs at the apex of the face of the house. Guests of this rental will also enjoy the view from the furnished balcony, the gas grill, and the private hot tub, perfect for soothing both body and soul.

For the adventurous, this home is about a mile from College Cove Beach and College Cove Falls, a little over two miles from Luffenholtz and Moonstone Beach, and about six miles from Patricks Point State Park. And if you want to hike the scenic trails of Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, this home is about 28 miles south.

We travel with seniors and young children (8 and 10 yo), and we all enjoy our stay in the spacious and cozy house. The kitchen is small but very well equipped and functional. The beds are all very soft and comfortable. The view is fabulous, and most importantly, you can’t beat the location. It’s only a few minutes of walk to the market and the short trail to the bay.Angelica is very responsive whenever we need her.We would definitely choose to stay here again if we ever go back for vacation.

We had a really great time. The house had everything we needed- the host left a small cooler, beach chairs, even some laundry pods and coffee. The views are understated in the description! We love that part about the house. Trinidad is a very small town, and you can walk to anywhere from the house. Loved the location in proximity to the Redwoods parks. Don't miss the College Beach hike!!

This was a great vacation home! It has plenty of space for 6 people to be comfortable. The location was great for walking to the beach or stuff in town. It had excellent ocean views. The garden area was lovely and it was nice and private for the hot tub use. They also had everything you would need so you don't have to pack any special kitchen items. We really enjoyed our stay!

A true gem!

Whalesong is such a unique, artistic and cozy place to stay-- and with breathtaking views of the beaches and rocky shore. Highly recommend this for anyone who wants to experience the charm of Trinidad and the iconic North Coast. Host Angelica was friendly and responsive, and lives nearby to help out.
