The entire building is in need of renovations/upgrades. While the sheets were clean, and there weren't bedbugs, the hotel feels dirty not because I can see dirt, specifically, but because the carpet, etc are so old they just need to be replaced. My room heater did have a "clicker" to try to get heat, but it didn't work, but fortunately there was a great extra blanket. (My travel companions didn't even have a clicker to try to use.) Staff were not very helpful or friendly.
The gym was pathetic - the treadmill & another machine were in the hall and clearly not usable. All that was available was weight equipment and it was clearly well used.
The restaurant (17th floor) staff was either insufficient, or unmotivated - both, it appears, as they did not seem to aim to please. Four of us waited 20+ minutes to order and then the food came out in no particular order, but the last person was served more than 30 minutes after the first person. Requests for items, such as silverware and napkins, were unfulfilled. The dessert bar (lobby level) had one dessert in the case, and some candy for purchase. What was clearly at one time a landmark grand hotel is now a shadow of it's former self.
