Good house for a weekend visit

Our family had a nice time during a snow storm. The location was convenient and the neighborhood was delightful. Beds were fairly comfortable and the home was in good condition. We had good communication with the owners and enjoyed our stay.

Perfect spot

This house is exactly what the perfect fit for our trip of 4 adults,one kid,and a dog. We came up to the snow to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary (they met skiing) and this place checked every box. It's in our favorite neighborhood in Strawberry, it's an easy drive to skiing and snow play, it's high enough altitude to turn into a winter wonderland after one small storm, and the house itself is homey, comfortable, cozy, clean, and well stocked. The fact that there are two rooms with comfortable king sized beds is enough to give our stay 5-stars all on its own. That's so rare to find and such a win because a good night's sleep can make or break a trip. Also finding a dog and kid friendly spot that is so clean and well kept and outfitted with comfortable and tasteful touches is such a pleasure as you often have to sacrifice some of those things, especially when traveling with a pet. The little dog ramp from the back deck to the back yard was such a charming touch as well and would have been ideal if our dog hadn't been a bit too big and scared to try it :). We really wouldn't have changed a thing and I expect we will be back again. Highly recommend.

All kitchen appliances, cooking tools and dishes were dirty. Almost all furniture and fixtures were several weeks past needing to be dusted. At least one of the beds did not have fresh sheets as evidenced by kids socks inside the bed sheets.

Very welcoming space close to the Pinecrest Lake

We reserved this space to attend a family reunion nearby. The space was welcoming and cozy - we loved the kitchen and the deck. Our dog had great fun going up and down the pet ramp in the backyard! I definitely recommend this space for families or small groups.

Tranquil time of the year

Over all was a great stay and fit for the size of family that attended all stated they liked this place much better than another location that was picked from last year. I noticed favorite spot was the bay window overlooking the back next to kitchen seen just staring at the big beautiful trees.

We had a lot of mainly cleaning issues. VRBO literately washed their hands off of doing anything for us and helping us out but the owner and evolve made it right. I won't book again through VRBO.

If location, location, location is the key to real estate, this property confirms that expression. It is ideally situated for those seeking the numerous recreational activities available in the Strawberry/Pinecrest area. While the pictures on the VRBO web site are appealing, they fail to capture the fact that the house has a number of big and small maintenance issues. Also missing are the shortcomings of the housekeeping crew and property manager. Fortunately, most of the deficiencies can be cured with a little elbow grease and attention to detail. I was told that the current owner bought the house approximately 1½ years ago. Hence, the new owner has not had time to rectify many years of neglect by a seller that allowed the property to age far faster than it should. Here’s hoping the new owner will invest the capital necessary to restore the property to its full potential. In the meantime, renters will enjoy a visit if they are willing to accept a dwelling that is a little rough around the edges. If I were the owner, I would start by finding a property manager that will actively supervise the activities of the housekeeping crew or, at least, personally inspect the results. Numerous sticky drinking glasses in the cabinet, no detergent for the dishwasher or washing machine, ditty cooking pans that should have been replaced long ago, a Balsamic vinegar spill, a pile of desiccated pet waste on the back deck, a front porch that needs sweeping, assorted bits of trash on the driveway, an oven that desperately needs at least two applications of Easy Off and a barbecue that was as equally filthy inside as it was outside are all signs that someone is not doing his/her job properly. People understand and accept that winter weather adversely impacts on all mountain properties. Unfortunately, the deterioration of the driveway and back deck of this cabin indicate that maintenance has been deferred far too long. The screening on the front screen door is so detached from it frame that mosquitos and flies are free to enter at will. Lastly, I recommend that renters be provided with detailed written instruction on the proper operation of each of the three televisions. On the two occasions I attempted to watch NBA basketball playoff games on the TV in the front room, a notice appeared saying that the system was not connected to a provider, i.e., no signal was available. Yes, I tried an array of options but without success.
