Northwoods Family Vacation Home

Enter Summerhaven through the winding wooded road and find yourself on a beautiful lake with wildlife all around. The home is located 15 feet from the waters edge and has 150 feet of level sandy shoreline.
Enjoy your morning coffee on the porch overlooking the lake where Loons and Eagles soar above.
Bring your bike or rent one in town and enjoy a five mile ride around the lake or use the many bike paths or back roads that connect quaint towns for you to explore. Beautiful views and wildlife can be seen while you walk the roads or hike the many trails. You can also rent an ATV locally and experience the top quality trails that surround the area.
You will experience great fishing on this lake. Kids can catch panfish right off the private pier and for the serious angler Lost Lake is one of the lakes in the Greater Wisconsin Musky Tournament. This years tournament date is October 7th. Another fishing tournament is the Fishing With The Stars on May 20th.
Other activities are the Monday Flea Market in St. Germain beginning on May 29th, Cathy's Ice Cream, Monday Night Bingo starting June 5th, The Annual Walk in the Woods Art Fair on June 10th, the Up North Beer Fest on June 9th and 10th, Sip-N-Shop Wine Walk on June 17th, Farmers Markets, and 4th of July Fireworks. There are also many area craft shows throughout the summer as well.
For those who enjoy cycling, The September Bike Ride is on Sept 9th.
Colorama Fall Festival and the Fall Foliage Color Run are on Sept 16th. The ATV Fall Fest is on Sept 23rd and Cranberry Fest is on Oct 7th and 8th.
In addition, the area offers outstanding restaurants, bars and breweries, gift shops and thrift stores. For a memorable experience drive your boat to Murmuring Waters on the southwest shore of Lost Lake for their daily specials.
In the daytime enjoy the beautiful clear sandy shoreline which has a gentle slope perfect for kids to swim and play in. You can also rent a pontoon or jet ski and hang out on the water or simply enjoy Summerhaven's Relaxation Station. For an adventure, you can take a half-day rafting trip down the Wisconsin River. For kids, there's miniature golf, go-carts, climbing walls, and horse back riding nearby. On a rainy day Summerhaven has an assortment of traditional board games, puzzles and movies to enjoy.
In the evenings enjoy a cozy fire in the fire pit, counting the stars, roasting marshmallows and enjoying your favorite beverage.
Home amenities include a full kitchen, wood burning fireplace, outside deck with weber grill, fire pit, private pier, enclosed heated porch, two full baths, four large bedrooms and a puzzle/game room.

Summerhaven

Spacious lake home with beautiful view of Lost Lake. Plenty of room for our family group of eight. We had a great time boating, fishing and swimming. Beach area was perfect for our young grandchildren.

Amazing family vacation

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this property and Jeff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from check in to check out. Kitchen is stocked with everything you would need, plenty of space for sleeping and family gatherings. We will be back next year.

Our favorite stay up north in years

We had an amazing time at Jeff's property on Lost Lake. Our family has been going up north for a week in the summer since I was a young child- about 30 years. We have been using vrbo the last 5 years or so to find rental properties. Summerhaven was our favorite location we've ever stayed. The house is large and big enough to fit our family, and the dining/living room area is the perfect large open area for everyone to hang out together. We spent every morning in the beautiful front room that overlooks the lake drinking our morning coffee. Overall the house was perfect for us. The backyard area is a little small, but that was actually ok with us since it meant not having to walk a long way from the boat or firepit to get into the house. We did a lot of fishing in our week stay. This is the best fishing we have had in 10+ years!! Caught enough fish for a fish fry for 8 people and bagged more to take home!! Lots of great fishing spots on the lake. I also thought the lake was the perfect size to "get to know" the good fishing spots over the week. Communication from Jeff was great- we had a quick phone conversation when I first arrived at the property and he let me know some important info about the rental and made sure we were settling in ok. Overall our family couldn't have been happier with the rental, and we are hoping to return again next year!

Summerhaven- Summerdelight!

We had a small group this year, but we’re looking forward to having more family members join us next year when we rent it again. The home was clean, well equipped and spacious! Communication with Jeff, the owner, was informative and prompt! Beautiful view of Lost Lake!

Very nice cabin rental

My family really enjoyed our week stay at Summerhaven. The bedrooms were all nice with plenty of room, loved having 3 bathrooms, the kitchen was very well supplied with everything we needed, but our favorite room was the sunroom with its wonderful lake views! The lakeshore was shallow and sandy and great for swimming. Our host was readily available and very easy to work with. Looking forward to staying again next year!

Family Vacation

We had a great stay and Jeff was great to work with. The house was clean and ready for our arrival. It was roomy and plenty big enough for our group of 7. Fishing was great right off of the pier. Perhaps a couple of the mattresses could be changed out in the future, but overall, the house was great and we would definitely visit again.

Perfect lake house

My family had the best weekend relaxing here! The house is plenty big for our family of 8 adults. The sunsets and sunrises were beautiful. We loved sitting around the fire pit at night and swimming in the lake during the day.

Overall nice stay on a quiet lake

We stayed at this Lost Lake location for the first week of August for a family vacation and generally found the property to be adequate for our family's needs. The house can sleep a lot of people and had a good kitchen and common spaces. The house could benefit from some updates and maintenance, but ultimately did fine for us for our stay.

Wonderful Lake Stay in the Northwoods

I have been renting various properties through VRBO for decades! This house is warm and inviting with lovely views of the lake. We love to cook as a family and the well-equipped kitchen and dining areas accommodated us all (11 and a two-year-old) nicely. The dock area was accessible for our boat and kayaks and we had a flotilla of Fluzzles (interlocking modular tubes) anchored in the bay area at all times. Nice sandy bottom on the lake. I would recommend this property for larger families who like to be all under the same roof and our host Jeff was very approachable and available if we had questions. A good time was had by all!

Not as good as anticipated

One bedroom did not have A/C. The toilet was clogged for a few days due to a pump issue in the septic system. The A/C froze up and leaked through the ceiling from the second to first floor. The neighbors are pricks. We literally had a leash for a dog and someone let it out of the cabin by mistake and the neighbors reported us instead of speaking with us as adults. No easy entry into the water. My sister had a hip replacement and it was impossible for her to access the lake without a step stool. Not enough trash bins. Lots of dead trees along the driveway, a high wind would knock them over onto a vehicle. Driveway is very narrow and windy making it difficult to back a boat or utility trailer.

Very accomodating stay

Everything was wonderful! Only complaint was that the heater didn't seem to work in the living room area (the weather was unusually cold the first few days) and the listing said linens were included, but that didn't include any towels. Contact with owner was easy and we were able to get mini issues resolved quickly. What a nice and comfortable cabin...and it really is right near the water!

Weekend getaways with the family

Great place to stay with family

We enjoyed the cabin, especially the front porch with the view and lake breeze. There was enough room for our family of 5 adults and 2 littles. Lost Lake is sandy & shallow.

A great place!

The setting is picture perfect. There was plenty of room for our group of 4 adults and two children. Great swimming. The home is well equipped and nicely furnished. If you like to bike, be sure to ride the Heart of Vilas trail!

The house was very clean and spacious. Had everything needed for a comfortable stay. We loved the sandy beachfront and the beautiful views of the lake and the surrounding wildlife. A definite A+

Lost Opportunity at Lost Lake

It was nice cabin on a beautiful lake. I'm sure if we didn't have issues it would have been very nice. Unfortunately, one of the beds in a bedroom had an extremely large mouse net. There was mouse droppings all over the floor and room. It was clear by the size of the nest that this room had not been cleaned in a long time. When I called him about it he told me to change the sheets myself and vacuum the floor. The owner did absolutely nothing to offer any type of compensation for us not being able to use the bedroom. He sent pest control to the house and while there they found additional mice in the kitchen and closets. Traps were set that day. We were there for additional 3 days. Not once did he ask if we saw more mice or if we were satisfied. The place was nice and it could have been a nice stay. Very poor customer service and I would strongly recommend that you not use this property.

Northwoods Paradise

Our host Jeff was wonderful and the property was perfect! The fishing kept the kids busy, the fire was beautiful over the lake and the roads around the lake made for a great 5 mile bike ride. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was fully stocked and we kept busy on our rainy day with the Alexa for music and YouTube TV for a movie. We played board games at the huge table and had family style meals every day. We visited the flea market on Monday and found some awesome things! We even had many very close encounters with a beautiful bald eagle right off the pier. Overall wonderful property, great host and beautiful area. Highly recommend for a family getaway!

Surrounded by beauty

We loved the views and nature that surrounded beautiful Summerhaven. Enjoyed lake time, bird watching and long walks. Jeff was a very responsive and accommodating host. The location of this rental is great & close to many cute northern towns. Lost lake was great for kayaking, fishing and tubing. We really enjoyed our stay!

Wonderful home on the water!

Our experience almost ended before it began. We are first time VRBO people and didn't realize last August (2020) that we were being charged by the person vs the 'house'. We neglected or forgot to list the three children under age four on our application. When I shared with the owner that we would have, now 4 kids under the age of four, the week before we arrived, he explained that VRBO would be billing us ADDITIONAL $/person/day for each child. That was over twice/person/day of what we paid last August for the eight adults! Needless to say that was a SHOCK! Obviously we worked through that with the owner and stayed the week. This was a very nice home to rent. The positives for us included having four bedrooms; one for us and one for each of our three married children. There was a set of bunk beds where the four and two year old kids slept in the room with their parents. There was room for a Pack & Play in the large closet in the room with another couple. And there was room in the upstairs bathroom for the infant to sleep in his P & P. There is a den where the kids could play and a sunroom facing south for morning quiet times and afternoon reading. We used the firepit, the Weber grill, the TV a little, and the lake. The water is shallow and the lake floor is sandy, :-). Perfect for the little kids to play in. Highlights included the eagles flying overhead and the loons. We took a paddle board and kayaks and enjoyed seeing Lost Lake from the water. This is a great place and we hope to return next year. Thanks so much to the owner Jeff, for making this family vacation a HUGE success!

Lakefront Paradise

We had a wonderful time at Summerhaven. There were 9 of us and the house was more than comfortable. It is much bigger than it looks in the pictures and provided us with ample space to eat, relax and socialize indoors. The lake is beautiful and the shoreline is perfect for little kids to swim and play. It's a hard sand bottom and is a very gradual slope so kids can play out quite a ways before it gets too deep. There's plenty of good places to eat in St. Germain and Sayner and the paved Heart of Vilas County bike trail is very nice for a long ride. There's also a loop all the way around the lake for the runners/walkers that is about 5 miles and very relaxing. The owner is incredibly responsive and get's back via email or text very quickly both before and during our stay. We would definitely stay here again!
