This is a gem of a home located at the end of a cul-de-sac boasting panoramic ocean views, and spectacular sunsets! Whether you are planning a family vacation or want to enjoy the many outdoor-adventure activities of the lost coast, this is truly a home away from home. You will be able to cook delicious meals with friends and family with the fully loaded kitchen and gaze out at the ocean while sipping local wine or beer. A cast iron bathtub is ready for you to soak your stress away, while the kids play boardgames in the living room or watch a movie. Pet-friendly.

Artistic Haven with All the Right Touches

Wow—this place is a gem! First off, forget those cookie-cutter rentals with their catalog furniture; this home is filled with gorgeous art and unique touches that tell a story. The deck is a showstopper with incredible views, and the wood stove kept us cozy during the evening chill. We were amazed by the lush gardens and plants surrounding us— forget those cototal eye candy!The space feels way bigger than the photos show, and the kitchen had everything we could think of (and then some). It's in a super convenient location—a short jaunt up the hill to the general store, and the town's just minutes away. When our WiFi hiccupped, our host jumped right in with a fix, and they made EV charging a breeze.This is one of those rare finds where you can tell the owners really care about creating a memorable experience. Can't wait to come back!

Retreat in the Woods

My husband and I had a wonderful Christmas vacation stay in the perfect woodsy retreat with spectacular ocean veiws. The house has a nice great room and a cozy sitting area for tv viewing. We had coffee in the mornings on the balcony overlooking the ocean. We cooked great meals in the well supplied kitchen. And had a cozy fire in the evenings.We went down to Shelter Cove, which is a short drive down the mountain and had some delicious meals.This was a most relaxing vacation.

Paradise in NorCal

We loved our time in Whitethorn. This home is beautifully set up. The kitchen had everything to prepare our meals. Many games for the kids to play. Every night we enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the ocean! Love this place!

Gorgeous views, relaxing location

My family absolutely loved this property. The views are stunning and there is lots of space for everyone. The location is pretty remote, so the town is small and we really enjoyed meeting the locals. They directed us to a safe beach area so the kids could play in the water.

Perfect home overlooking the Cove

Came to stay at this amazing home in July. Kitchen was fully stocked, decor is warm and cozy, very spacious for our family of 4 (plus two dogs). Nothing beats the view though. There are large windows across the house and you get a view of the lighthouse, the ocean, and a feeling of being above the clouds. The host was lovely, easy to access, and provided everything needed.

Relaxing and peaceful.

This was our first visit to northern California. We had a great view of the cove where there were sea lions and seals and enjoyed watching the birds and deer from the porch. We traveled to the redwoods which were not far. We also explored the General Store and enjoyed a meal at the brewery in Shelter Cove. All communication with the homeowner was prompt and courteous. Perfect trip!

Peaceful Paradise

My husband and I enjoyed the spectacular views from the deck. Looking over the tree tops and seeing the ocean while hearing the barking sea lions was a marvelous treat. The house is inviting, cozy and had just what we needed to cook our meals. All this added up to making our vacation a very memorable one.

Peaceful surroundings & comfortable rooms

Fantastic ocean view! Comfortable beds and airy rooms gave us peaceful vacation. Very quiet surroundings with super nice neighbors who won’t bother you at all but watch over your safety during our stay. Property owner, Lance responded our questions despite of his very busy schedule at that time. We went to Venezuelan restaurant & Gyppo Ale Mill with live music on Friday. The rest of week, we cooked and the house had everything we needed to prepare our meals. Enjoyed our meals with beautiful sunsets & Cesna airplane landing next to small airport next to light house was fun to watch. One thing we recommend is that bring your own coffee bean grinder if you are bringing whole coffee beans. Overall, our vacation was very successful.

Great house with spectacular views

It's a beautiful house that's in a quite and secluded location. You can tell that thought has been put into the furnishings and nice architectural details. The deck is large with expansive views of the ocean and nice teak furniture. The owner was friendly, responsive, and gave me recommendations of places to go. I also think the price is very reasonable compared to other places I've stayed. I would definitely stay here again.

A great place with a great view

This was a really great place with a great view, the small town near by has lots to see, near the lighthouse we saw sea lions and seals. The house is much bigger than it looks in the photos, The sunsets were amazing and it has been a long time since I have seen that many stars at night. If you are looking for a quiet place to connect with nature, this is where you want to stay.

Beautiful Home

The home was very clean, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. Beautiful home with plenty of room to relax. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck each morning with amazing views of the ocean surrounded by the trees. Plenty of room to walk the dogs in the front yard. We would definitely stay at the property again if our travels bring us back to the area.

Beautiful Views

Came to escape the fireworks of home (and the heat). Didnt escape either this time around. This type of heat is rare there i am sure. (Over 95 in the house) Needs another fan or 2 plus a latch on the screen door. We made the best of the 1st day on the deck enjoying the absolutely clear view of the beautiful Pacific. The house was roomy and had everything we needed for the 3 days. I could just live on that huge cozy pillow chair. Thank you for having us.

Amazing in every way!

We took our 96-year-old aunt and 14-year-old dog on a little vacation. We picked the most amazing place for all of us. Gorgeous view from every room inside and the huge gated deck. A one-story house with few stairs. Hard to find along the coast. The house is charming inside and out. It looks recently remodeled just like you'd like to have. The furnishings are interesting and beautiful. The amenities are top-notch. It's the best-equipped kitchen we've ever seen. Several "living" areas to enjoy chatting, eating, watching TV, which we never did. Perfect eating/puzzle table: great view! And if you're lucky enough to meet the owner, he's a really nice man. You couldn't ask for a better host or place to be.

As good as it gets!!

The house was ideal, super beautiful and comfortable. Lance was very quick to respond and made check in and check out extremely easy. The kitchen had everything we could have wanted and we had a fire in the wood stove when it was cold and foggy. The back deck was huge and had gates with latches which were great for letting the dog out without worrying about him wandering. 10/10 would recommend to anyone, no complaints at all.

Beautiful home, view, region!

Myself and 4 other adults stayed at this property for 4 nights and I would have stayed longer if I could— as others have echoed In their reviews: the photos online absolutely do not do this property justice! The layout, furniture, and everything else are quiet distinct and unique. We had a fun time just checking out decor inside, never mind the incomparable view of the ocean and bay. Keep in mind that this property is challenging to get to from highway 101–given the winding roads and remote nature. That’s is exactly what we were looking for and it’s an ideal way to disconnect. Would recommend to anyone!

Expansive peaceful beauty

Of note: the pictures posted in listing do not do this place justice - it is a gorgeous house with high ceilings & huge, numerous windows. Just a perfect stay. A beautiful property - comfortable beds & furniture, great kitchen and best of all a breathtaking view. We loved sitting on the huge deck taking in the peace and power of the pacific. Just wonderful. We plan to come back!

Great place to stay! Spectacular view!

Beautiful house in the sunbelt of the Lost Coast! Wonderful breeze with echos of the sea lions at the shore. Great coastal, bohemian vibes with genuinely comfortable furniture and beds! The ocean facing deck is expansive and also gated so our dog could roam free outside and in! Everything at this house is easily accessible, only two steps up to enter! Kitchen is well stocked and the host even provided us with freshly caught salmon! The house is at the end of a quiet street and only a 5 minute drive to Black Sand Beach. We totally recommend staying at this house and plan to return in the fall.
