The room was red hot and stuffy even though there was a fan. Also the soukd proofing was bad you could hear people on the toilet up stairs. Nice apartment, clean and good communication.

The property is ideally situated for the city centre. Very clean and tidy, easy checking in process on the morning of check in you are sent a message with the codes to get into the property and for the key safe of your room. Would stay here again.

Good location but lacks comfort

Handy for the city centre. Bed was standard double and a very soft, uncomfortable mattress and squeaked when moving. When all you are really paying for is somewhere to sleep, I think the bed is the most important thing, and it really let the place down. Shower was good but towels poor quality. No teabags or milk sachets provided. TV was not positioned to be able to see it from the bed and there was no where else to sit. Overall would not recommend.

Ok stay

Our room was clean, and close to shops and pubs and just a stone throw away from parking. Property itself was easy to access, lovely and clean and had good feel to it. Keysafe literally outside your door. The room was so small, as you opened the door the bed was there, very standard room, very hot, it was like sleeping in a sauna, there was a fan but this didn’t really cool the room down, the bed is so soft both myself and husband had a terrible nights sleep and had lots of aches and pains. The towels put the bathroom were horrendous, it was like drying yourself on a wash leather. Wouldn’t rush back to stay unless it was very last resort.

Honest Review

To start, the Three Cranes did not provide amenities as listed. There is no laundry facilities as advertised. If you’re planning for an extended stay and need laundry, the hotel will not have available facilities. These are not ‘serviced apartments’. The only service you can expect is to have a clean room when you arrive. There will be no cleaning during your visit. I needed towels during my visit so I pulled aside a cleaning lady. She had to call her manager to see if it was okay to give me new towels. After learning this about towels, I went and bought extra toilet paper. Other things that I didn’t like. The only soap provided in the shower was an almost empty bottle of suave shampoo. No new soap or body wash. Thank goodness I brought my own. The walls are paper thin. I spent one night listening to a couple argue and was concerned there may be a domestic dispute taking place. You will also hear your neighbors watching t.v or chatting. My ear plugs were a life saver! One evening was spent with the lower floor flooded with marijuana smoke and a bunch kids standing inside the front door while suspiciously meeting people in their cars all night. What I did like is the rooms are actually decent and look like the advertised pictures. The location is fantastic if you’re interested in visiting the city center. Close by is a proper pub called the Three Tuns (highly recommend). The place has lots of potential to be amazing. The place could use some more hospitality.

Good apartment to stay at. Could occasionally hear the neighbours but nothing distracting. Good cooking equipment but did have to go and buy some stuff in. The cutlery was dirty when first arrived but a quick wash fixed that. Comfortable bed.

Excellent location

Joe is easy to reach. The location of this property is superb. It's in city centre. The tram is within a couple of minutes walk. Everything is within walking distance.

A fantastic find for our needs. The owner was exceptionally helpful. Central to the city. Great value for money. We had a great room. However a few things to make it better : 1- the oven/microwave didn’t work even after trying a few times. It needs a master in engineering to make it work. Maybe stick with 2 separate items. 2- Not ideal for light sleepers. Can sadly hear a lot through the walls. 3- although the apartment was clean. I am not too sure the hoover was done. Thank you though. We enjoyed our 4 night stays and we will for sure come back when we need.

Great location right in the city centre and fantastic for Ponds Forge- the reason I come to Sheffield is for swimming comps so that was handy, this was my first time staying here. I liked the kitchen facilities that was another seller for me as it means cooking your own food and not having to eat out whilst at competition. The bed was okay but extremely squeaky and the bedding was very thin. Overall bedroom was good, lovely rainful shower and lots of space & storage. I was on ground floor in room 1 meaning I had all the street noise including being woken by people shouting outside at all hours in the morning- this wasn’t ideal. The walls also must be like paper as I could hear every time someone entered the building and even conversations others were having in the corridor. Overall decent stay and I did like the room- for noise levels i’m not sure I would return as a good nights sleep is important- I didn’t sleep well at this competition.

Great apartment but plumbing issue

The apartment is very comfortable and has all you need. The only issue is the bathroom drainage. There was a smell coming from the bathroom and I realised that when the next room used their drainage, the shower trap gurgled. This is allowing foul air from the drains to come into the room. I filled the shower trap by running the water and the problem went away. I'm no expert but I think there needs to be an air admittance valve fitted.
