550 Tarpon Pond is a charming beachy cottage! So close to many of Seabrook's amenities yet nestled on a quiet street amid Seabrook's majestic live oak trees, it is the perfect quiet retreat for your vacation. Located .8 miles to Pelican Beach and 1.2 miles to the Beach Club pools, Pelican's Nest oceanfront, outdoor dining, clubhouse, and golf courses, you are just a bike ride away from so much. Surrounded by mature trees, you can sit and watch the wildlife while sitting on the screened porch. This inviting and cozy cottage is perfect for family vacations!

The cottage features an open dining/living area with cathedral ceilings and hardwood floors. Wainscot paneling, high ceilings, and a fireplace create an airy atmosphere. Enjoy watching shows on the HDTV/DVD. The sliding doors to the screened porch where sunlight filters through the trees creates its own relaxing space as you sip cool drinks and unwind from a fantastic day at the beach! In the dining area, your friends and family can gather around the island table that seats 8 on bar stools - perfect for sharing stories from your day. The nearby galley kitchen has white cabinetry, Corian counters, new dishware, and is very well stocked.

There are three bedrooms in this cottage.The primary bedroom has a queen bed, an HDTV, and its own adjoining bath with a shower. The 2nd bedroom has two twin beds and an HDTV in the armoire. The hall bath with a shower/tub is just outside the door. Upstairs is a large loft with two twin beds. This is a great retreat for the children.

2 dogs allowed. Pet fee required per pet.

As of 5/31/25, property will have a dedicated rental 6-seater LSV available for guest to rent thru Lightning Bugz via an app. (Instructions on the cart itself. All LSV questions to be directed to Lightning Bugz only. This cart rental possesses one of the available rental gate passes allowed for this unit.

*Seabrook Island Property Association (SIPOA) has started charging for all gate passes.

Gate passes are $45/ vehicle. This charge applies if you are staying 1 night – 179 nights. If you are staying more than 179 nights, there is a different charge.

Seabrook Island is a cashless island. Your credit card will be linked to an in-app digital QR code for all purchases. Your QR code also acts as your "key" to enter all Club and Lake House facilities.
What's Free: Use of the Beach Club oceanfront pools and the Lake House outdoor pool.
What Costs Extra: Golf, tennis, pickleball, equestrian activities, the Lake House fitness center/indoor pool, and all food or drinks at Seabrook Island Club bars & restaurants

Overall was a good stay. House was cute, clean, plenty of linens, kitchen small but had what we needed. Mix up with LSV rental but was straightened out and also thought the house had bikes available as part of the home/price. Keurig did not work - they brought us a new coffee maker right away. Back screen door needs attention.

Coastal Vibes

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. The rooms were exactly as pictured and the extra amenities like the bikes and beach chairs were perfect. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. Had one rain morning and enjoyed the puzzles, games, and back screened in porch. Would definitely come back again!

Great Property, Poor Communication

Our experience at this VRBO was unfortunately disappointing. We specifically chose the property because it advertised a crib, but upon arrival, we were told we had to rent one separately—a frustrating surprise for traveling parents. Additionally, the washing machine was broken during our stay. While we contacted maintenance promptly, there was no clear communication about when they would arrive or whether they had attempted to fix it, and the issue remained unresolved. These unexpected problems made our trip more stressful than it needed to be.

Easter getaway

Seabrook Island is a great spot that my family and I have visited for a number of years. This property is in a really nice part of the island close to all of the beach access points. Like everything on the island it is quiet and you feel like you are all alone. The house was very comfortable and easily fit our family of 4 and our dog. Would recommend.

Lovely beach cottage

Had a great five night stay. Enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and biking to the beach club. House was nicely decorated and well equipped. We enjoyed several meals on the screen porch. Fave nearby restaurant was Salty Dog at the Bohicket Marina just a bit outside the gate.

2024 family getaway

The rental was as described. There was a lot to do without leaving the property. We stayed Thursday - Sunday and the only inconvenience was the workmen who showed up at 7:30 am Friday morning to build the new AC stand on the bedroom side of the unit.

Comfortable beach house

This house had just about everything we could have needed! The owners thought of everything; tv’s in every room, bicycles, beach chairs, gas grill (no brush to clean it though), coffee maker with keurig, liquid soap, and plenty of towels! The agency was wonderfully responsive when I informed them that I had left a couple of things behind! My only note for families with older adults…the main dining area in the house is a “high top” table with stools w/o backs. The dining table/chairs is outside on the screened in porch and it was too hot to eat outside!

Great Beach Cottage on Seabrook!

Loved our stay, the place was roomy for our small family, well stocked with what we needed, and in a very pleasant neighborhood. Appreciated the bikes and the beach chairs, plenty for all of us! Easy bike ride to the beach and pool. Can't wait to come back!

Has everything you need

Property spotless. Everything was easy. Like so many beach properties, there are outside steps going up to front door. Plenty of on-site parking. Tropical landscaping .We used the beach club pool and enjoyed it.

Great Stay

We had a great stay at the home. The cottage was clean and in great proximity to the beach, golf course and clubhouse. Only minor item to fix would be the bikes (flat tire) and the dishwasher (control board wasn’t working). Otherwise we had a great time.

Well-stocked home away from home

Attractive decor with shiplap and wainscoating, comfortable furniture. Well-stocked and organized kitchen with everything needed to prepare and serve meals. Books, games, DVDs, wide selection of cable channels. Collapsible wagon, folding chairs, sand toys for the beach. Amenity card gives access to the pools at the beach club. Great screened porch. Owners have obviously been responsive to suggestions made by previous guests to provide all that's needed to have an enjoyable vacation.

Great place for pets and their people

This home is good for pets and owners. We loved the screened porch and spent a good bit of time there. The dining table was perfect for family dinners and playing games. The home definitely needs a deep clean and updating. The available pans need to be replaced as well. The kitchen is functional, but only for one person. The location is really only driving distance to the beach. Overall the rental was accurate in the description for the most part.

Nice property

The mattresses were not very comfortable. The master bedroom needs to be changed out as well as the twin beds downstairs the owners need to put a bicycle tire pump somewhere in the house. Also it would be nice if the owners would put out some kind of and sign for what to do with the trash on what days

Pleasant Stay

The property was mostly as advertised. The pictures in the listing reflect a newer home, but we found wear and tear, especially the bathrooms (cracked tiles, shower curtains that really need changing out), old microwave, refrigerator door doesn't close well unless pushed shut. We did enjoy the screened in porch, however the cushions for the seating are stained and should be changed out as well. On a positive note, the location was very good and the mattress in the master bedroom is comfortable.

A lovely and relaxing place to stay

This clean cottage was well-suited to our family's needs and we enjoyed our stay here. While the kitchen was small and the cause of several 'traffic jams', it was fully functional and had everything we needed to dine-in (a necessary vacation modification due to Covid). We enjoyed sharing meals around the big dining table and numerous stools--everyone could eat together (this is often not the case with rental homes). The kids enjoyed the smart TV (although us adults could never figure out how to watch a local station for weather updates, etc!) The use of the beach bikes was most appreciated--we used them for getting around and even going out to Freshfields for some provisions. And we really liked the seaside and starfish themed decor. Lastly, the screened porch in back was a lovely place to relax.
