The hotel is now looking “tired” and in need of a deep clean. The carpets throughout need a shampoo and some important aspects need an overhaul eg: bathrooms and staircase. We stayed in room 11 which was quite compact. The bed and pillows were very comfy. The key issue was the smell in the room which was coming from the en-suite. We believe it is drain related but has the odour of rotting cabbage. It penetrates into the bedroom and “hits” you as you enter the room. Periodically there was a smelly drain odour too which again filled the room. The room was warm so we had the window open. This meant we could hear the seagulls at all hours and the noise until the early hours from the pub opposite. Breakfast was overall good but service differed on the two mornings and the quality of the food. Day 1 my husband ordered porridge and it took forever. The cooked breakfast was fresh and tasty. Day 2 the sausage, black pudding and bacon were overcooked. This hotel has huge potential - it needs some TLC. A good thorough clean would help enormously. It’s in a fantastic spot and the free parking a bonus. I hope this review is received in the spirit it’s written hoping the hotel can survive into the future.
