Stunning Ocean View Chateau - Experience it All

Perched on a hilltop inside an upscale gated community, Mar Vista Chateau (with more than 10,000 sq. feet) consists of a large, three floor main house and a separate guesthouse that together can host up to 14 guests.

Mar Vista Chateau boasts a total of six suites. The main house upper floor has three master bedroom suites that are each tastefully appointed with king sized beds, walk-in closets and ensuite bathrooms. Each of the master bedrooms have spacious balconies with stunning ocean views. The lower floor has a poolside suite with two queen sized beds, an ensuite bathroom, and opens up to a spacious deck with a blue infinity pool, jacuzzi soak tub, a BBQ area and comfortable sun loungers. The BBQ area is complete with a wet bar, a gas BBQ grill, and an outdoor dining table set to allow guests to enjoy poolside dining along with the incredible views.

The guesthouse has two garden view suites, one with a queen sized bed and the other with two queen sized beds. The guesthouse also has a living room with a foldout sofa bed. The guesthouse has one full bathroom shared by the two suites and one half bathroom in the living room.

The main house features on the middle floor a gourmet kitchen with black granite counter-top, convection oven, microwave, blender, toaster, coffee maker, glassware, flatware, refrigerator, dishwasher; the spacious dining room has a dinner table for 12 guests. Private chefs can be hired upon request to prepare local delicacies in the gourmet kitchen and poolside.

The living area features a projector where guests can use their favorite streaming services such as Netflix, Apple TV+ to watch their favorite movies, a billiard room, and a half bathroom/powder room.

The nearest beach, Playa Hermosa, is a 5 minute drive from the Chateau, where you can enjoy calm waters for swimming, water activities, lounging, and a variety of beachside dining options. The Chateau is an approximately 25 minute drive from the Liberia International Airport. Private transportation can be arranged upon request.

Beautiful chateau in Playa Hermosa

A gorgeous home in a gated community, beautiful view, lovely pool, trees full of monkeys. We loved our stay. Management was friendly and extremely helpful. The road up to the house is a challenge, but our van was a champion.

10/10 Stay at Chateau Mar Vista

We had a fantastic stay at Chateau Mar Vista! This beautiful house was perfect for my large family, including our in-laws and kids. Between the main house and the guesthouse, there was more than enough space for everyone to feel comfortable. The bedrooms were huge with high ceilings and stunning ocean views. The pool deck was absolutely amazing, providing a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the incredible views, especially at sunset—truly breathtaking! The kitchen was fully equipped and made meal preparations easy for a large crowd, and we really enjoyed the outdoor BBQ grill and bar right by the pool. The property is tucked away in a private, gated community. The location was ideal, with a short drive to gorgeous, relaxing beaches and beachside restaurants, making it easy to explore the local area. The local property manager and complimentary concierge services were also excellent. They provided a bunch of great recommendations - we especially enjoyed a beach hopping and snorkel boat tour of the Papagayo peninsula.

I expected much more than what I got.

The property has potential to be beautiful, however the upkeep of the property isn’t being met. The sofa cushions, lawn chair pillows had holes in them. The guest house was absolutely horrible. First thing is the smell, it smelled old and moldy. The furniture is outdated and the sofa cushions were dirty. There was no refrigerator in there, it was actually in the main house kitchen pantry. I guess it was broken so they stored it in the pantry. We couldn’t use the pool the pool the first night because it hadn’t been cleaned yet. We couldn’t sit on the balcony or lay in the hammocks because they were dirty. The house manager Rebecca told us she was going to replace the patio cushions the next day and that never happened. She also said she was going to send us videos on how to work the stove, hot tub etc so that we didn’t have to call her. Well the videos that she sent were not the same make and model, so we still had to constantly contact her. The concierge Jennifer was amazing!! She was extremely helpful and responsive to all of our needs. She offered suggestions on what to do while we were in Costa Rica and we enjoyed all of them. It was my 50th Birthday celebration and she brought me a cake, she’s super sweet. With all of the problems that we encountered, Jennifer kept me and my groups spirits up. Lastly the listing had a pool and hot tub for the house and a private pool, which I thought would be for the guest house. Well there was only one pool on the property.
