A spacious and clean 2 bedroom condo located directly on the beautiful Caribbean ocean! When we say directly, the property has no obstructing views, traffic noise or anything that separates you from the waves crashing on the beach below you! View all the majestic colors of the water from your private balcony with panoramic views. A stunning nature preserve located directly next to the condominium offers a soft sand beach to walk along, where the rainforest meets the ocean. In addition you have views of El Yunque Rainforest which adds to the majestic feel of the island. Our condo has a 24 hour security guard onsite and is a gated community. You have 1 covered parking space provided with rental. We have a property manager who will meet and greet you and answer any questions you may have upon your arrival. Early check-in and late check-out, when available, upon your request.
The condo has a Full Kitchen that has your cookware provided. We provide fresh flowers and organically grown seasonal fruit from a local farm. 1 bathroom with bathtub and shower. Clean Linens, bath towels, hangers, dresser with drawers in each bedroom, iron and ironing board, hair dryer are provided. Simple, sleek and clean living room that walks out to views that will take your breath away on your 11th floor balcony. Keep in mind there are only AC units in the bedrooms, but we have box fans and large sliding glass doors that you can open to allow airflow through living room. Master bedroom and guest bedroom both have views of the ocean and you can listen to the waves while you sleep. Beach towels, beach chairs and a cooler are provided. A soft sand beach that you can walk for miles on, surf lessons and swimming are steps away from the condo you will be staying in. Surf board and boogie board rentals are available a short walk down the beach as well as beach chair and umbrella rentals.
Our condo offers free wi-fi, a smart television with cable, air conditioning in bedrooms and a large community Laundry room on the main floor of condos.
You are located a 40 minute drive from the San Juan airport.
Luquillo is a charming and authentic surf town that has beautiful beaches and is only a 10 minute drive to El Yunque Rainforest. Cieba is a 25 minute drive away where you can take a ferry to Culebra or Vieques for a day trip and experience some of the top ranked beaches in the world. There are so many wonderful adventures to explore in this area! Non-chain restaurants, bars and convenience stores are walking distance from condo. Farmers markets, fresh produce stands, food trucks offering authentic Puerto Rican food and festivals are often times held at the Town Plaza which is a couple minute walk from condo. CVS, Walgreens, Walmart and other retail options are a 5 minute drive away for convenience.

***There is a slight possibility with updates being done to the buildings that the pool could be closed, but thankfully the beach is steps away!

ABOUT THE OWNERS AND WHY WE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE AREA :
Our names are Beth and Skip and we have two sons Dominic (14 years old) and Roman (8 years old). We are from Minnesota where the arctic air often times out weighs the warm air! Puerto Rico is an incredible escape for us literally any time of the year with average temperatures between 80-90 degrees. We have traveled to many amazing places, but Luquillo Puerto Rico instantly had our hearts. The people of Luquillo are incredibly helpful and welcoming and the authentic vibe of Puerto Rico is strong. The magic of the Island for us is in the variety of activities it offers, it never gets repetitive. The ocean for us is healing with the sound of the waves crashing on the shore that you can hear from our condo, the soft sand our feet sink into as we walk along the beach and the fact that El Yunque Rainforest (the only tropical rain forest in the US Forest System) is visible from our condo and only a 10 minute drive away makes our location absolutely perfect! Majestic and lush the rainforest offers so much to explore with hiking and searching for the off beaten paths that lead to waterfalls! Another beautiful nature attraction is the Bioluminescent Bay in Fajardo, which is a 20 minute drive from our condo!
Even if we want a day to stay in and relax we can still feel apart of all the beauty that surrounds us by lounging on the balcony and watching the changing of the tide and the captivating sky where we often see rainbows and stars so bright it looks like we can reach out and touch them.
2 years ago when we purchased this unit it was listed on Airbnb for the last 5 years with a 4.9 Star review rating.

****Due to Hurricane Maria hitting Puerto Rico very hard a couple of years ago our buildings are currently being repaired. There may be some unexpected issues that go along with construction. Please keep in mind you are on a tiny island in the middle of the Caribbean Ocean and living amongst locals. Luquillo is not a tourism hub, it is a surf village filled with amazing character. The pool is sometimes unexpectedly closed due to construction, but the ocean is just steps away! Weather, construction and power outages are unpredictable and can happen at any time.

Good Location. Upgrades Needed.

Had a good stay. Location was on the beach, many food spots within a five minute drive, lots of amenities available within the apt and the host was responsive. We spent most of the time touring the island which helped because the AC in the guest bedroom was loud enough to prevent sleep and could not be fixed during the time we were there. Although beachfront- the beach directly in front the property is more for surfing than bathing. Overall an enjoyable stay and good location to explore the many tourist spots the island has to offer. However, because I rely heavily on reviews to help make accomodation decisions I thought I would pay it forward with a transparent review that also includes the opportunities for improvement as well.

We had a great time. The condo was clean. Our beds were okay. The couch okay. The chair not too good. A loud air conditioner. But the price was great, we were close to everything, beauty of nature abundant. We would stay again.

A week in luquillo

The condo came as described. Monica was very communicative and even brought us brand new sheets when we asked. The views of the beach are unmatched!! My only complaint would be that the building and the unit need updating and the elevator is old and takes forever. And the buttons don’t light up so you have no idea what floor you’re on or if the elevator is even coming. These aren’t Monica’s fault though. She was amazing and we loved our stay in luquillo!! Can’t wait to come back!

Balcony with a view

This was just perfect for our small family. the town was quiet, yet full of life, restaurants were easy walking distance. I saw an earlier review before that rated this condo very poorly, and had many complaints. Now that ive stayed here, im even more bewildered by that review. Yes the railing on the balcony is weathered, but most railings would be that expereince tropical storms and hurricanes. The unit was small- but were not traveling there to hang out in a condo all day. The kitchen seemed well stocked but we took full advantage of the area restaurants- our two best meals were walking distance away. The current was rough during our stay but driving to a calmer beach was easy and there were so many to choose from. The beds were comfy but wobbely- we adjusted to it but didnt love the wobbeliness of them. The guards at the gate were so nice and helpful. The parking was easy and secure! the neighbors were friendly and helpful, and in general people were just so kind and inviting to us. Monica, the property manager was outstanding in her responsiveness, clear concrete/ detailed instructions, and assistance. The sunrises were devine, the view of the rainforest was perfect, and we loved being out of the bustle of the city. This place doesnt oversell its self in the desciption, what it advertises is what you get- and it's just what we wanted. wreview.

Incredible view, wonderful location.

The apartment, on the 11th floor is roomy and convenient. The terrace and view from the balcony is unbelievably wonderful. Truly get to enjoy the relaxing sounds of the waves. The secluded beach that the property lets out to has beautiful golden sands that extend for miles. There are also nice marshes alongside the beach. Additionally its a walk way from other beautiful beaches, including luquillo beach. Luquillo is a nice little town. The building and parking facillities are a little worn and run down, but we didn't experience any significant problems.

Mother daughter girls trip

Mom and I usually go on vacation for her birthday. This was our first time not staying at a hotel. The host and security staff were excellent. The rooms were perfect for our stay. We were able to cook a meal and enjoyed the views and ocean waves from balcony. Easy access to beach. There are a lot of steps to get to the beach from room, so be careful. We rented a car and vehicle was safe in secured parking lot. Wonderful stay and excellent communication from Host. Would stay again.

VRBO Rental Review - Puerto Rico Anniversary Trip ⭐ We booked this VRBO rental in Puerto Rico for our anniversary, but it was not what we expected. The photos seemed enhanced, hiding the true state of the property. Upon arrival, we were greeted by about 50 cats at the front gate, and the security guard wasn’t really “securing” anything and didn’t have info on any of the units. The parking garage was dimly lit, and the building showed signs of age and storm damage. Despite this, we remained hopeful for the inside of the unit. Unfortunately, the elevators were extremely old and even misled us about the floor we were on. The living room had a plastic fan attempting to cool down the space, & the balcony view was far from the beautiful photo online. In the first bedroom, the window unit appeared to have mold extending from the bottom up towards the bunk beds and ceiling. There were also open and used condiments left in the fridge, & the freezer racks were rusted. To top it off, we saw several small insects around the kitchen stove, counters, & sink. We took video of this in case of dispute. We notified the host the same day, but the owners didn’t respond to VRBO for a week as they were vacationing in Alaska. We paid for 5 nights including a cleaning fee to only received a refund for only 2 nights!! We had to spend more money booking our stay elsewhere. We could’ve celebrated our anniversary abroad for what we ended up spending on this trip. NEVER AGAIN!!

First time in PR

The building where we stayed was pretty old, needing some upgrades for sure. The balcony rails looked old and unsafe. That being said the apartment was quite comfortable, everything we needed was available to us, it was clean. The part of town the building was located in was run down, but that could be due to past storms. We did not feel unsafe. The west part of town is charming, has many good restaurants and pretty beaches. The folks in town were very nice and hospitable… we enjoyed waking up to the sounds of waves… nice place, beautiful island! we loved Puerto Rico and we will be coming back again! Thanks so much.

Loved this stay, quiet and cozy. Beautiful view, owner is very friendly and responsive. Quiet area but close enough to all tourist attractions just a short drive. Gated community with private pool was nice :)

Perfect location & well-equipped

The best part about this property is the location. It's right on a gorgeous beach (just an elevator ride and a set of stairs away). There are many restaurants within easy walking distance. The condo also had everything we could have possibly wanted (beach toys, boogie boards, tupperware, beach chairs, reusable grocery bags). It's one of the best equipped places we have ever stayed. We had the best communication of any VRBO stay with this host. She contacted us a week before arrival not only with check in information but also with information about the area. She provided additional information on the day of check in and touched base with us several times during our stay. The only word of caution I would provide is to families with small children: the balcony is in a state of disrepair (part of being so close to the ocean). This is a safety concern for families with young (impulsive) children. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

Relaxing vacation

The condo was perfect for our vacation, it was right where an endless beach for walking stretched one direction and the other direction the beach passed in front of the town. It was easy to walk to multiple restaurants, close to groceries and convenient for visiting the rain forest and other attractions. Inside the condo was very clean, comfortable and well kept. There were plenty of towels and things for the beach. The exterior of the building and neighborhood shows wear from past hurricanes but all the people we encountered were very friendly and the area felt safe.

Our own piece of paradise.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our recent stay in Luquillo. The host, Monica was more than gracious, responsive and informative. The property was exactly as described; all the comforts and amenities of home. I've seen other reviews that say that the building is well past it's prime, but don't let that deter you from booking at Sandy Hills. The apartment and the entire building were very clean, and secure. The stunning ocean views from the private balconies speak for themselves. The building is steps off from a very secluded beach and just a short walking distance from numerous restaurants and bars. We rented a car and it's a quick drive to gas stations, grocery stores, pharmacies, Beaches and El Yunque.

Ocean spa on the balcony!

We loved the balcony especially, with the sound of the crashing waves and the beautiful view of the greenery and golden sand. We also enjoyed that we could walk to bars/restaurants. The many gates/security made it difficult for the family to move about independently (should have asked for an extra set of keys). We couldn't swim at the beach as it was too rough but enjoyed sitting on the beach and watching the waves. The property manager was amazing.

Walking from the parking lot to the condo is definitely a challenge as other reviews of pointed out, but you get used to it. The immediate culture around the condos is definitely worth this day. The buildings are a little dated. However, the condo itself was very much remodeled and modern. The host was very prompt with any and all concerns and was especially helpful prior and during our stay. The location was perfect and allowed you to have quick access to the popular touring areas on the island versus staying in San Juan. Several casinos were located throughout the area I would go to tropical.

Great beach stay

We loved that the apartment building was right next to a 2 mile stretch of beach that was also a national park so no development and at times it felt we had the beach all to ourselves. We did need a car to get groceries, but many options 5-10 minutes away. The property manager Monica was helpful and responsive. Great place for a relaxing hang out at the beach vacation. Loved the porch!

Perfect Location

We had a wonderful stay at this property. It was wonderful to hear the waves constantly crashing against the shore. The view from the balcony is amazing and the location is perfect for exploring the east side of Puerto Rico. Monica was an excellent host. She provided great suggestions for exploring the island and responded promptly when we had a question about the internet. The apartment was clean and we appreciated the beach toys and towels. Good Value in a Good Location

Very clean condo with outstanding ocean views. Basic, secure building in working-class neighborhood. We liked the "local vibe" with the stray cats and chickens around, but it's not for everyone. This was our first trip to PR and we are glad we chose this place. We wanted a genuine PR experience not a sanitized resort and we appreciated the easy beach access and the ability to see and mix with the local townspeople. It's a quick drive to beautiful Loquillo Beach and the kioskos. The rain forest and Fajardo excursions are also not far. We always looked forward to returning to this quiet and comfortable condo at the end of the day. It's a bit of a challenge to first negotiate the layout of the parking garage and buildings but it's easy soon enough. Would not hesitate to book here again.

Waves 24-7!!! ❤️

The view from here is unbeatable and the short amount of time to walk from condo to the ocean was no more than 5 min. They do lock the gates at 6 but it only takes about another 5 min to walk around the building and be right there!!! The parking was not as terrible as made out to be! There was pleanty of food in walking distance and the condo itself was easy to be comfortable in. I was slight disappointed about there not being the fruit and flowers as the description on line said as I keep these at home and thought it would be a nice touch , HOWEVER this stay was so relaxing and we would definitely come back!!

Amazing View

The view from the balcony did not disappoint, it was beautiful. We could hear and enjoy the waves. The listing was accurate and Monica was vet helpful. My only suggestion is to have blinds and AC in the living room. The bedroom did stay really cool though. I would stay here again when we come back!
