The Cabins at Monkey Falls were a lovely oasis from which we did a week of exploring. It's located very near San Ignacio and within driving distance to all of the major sites. You will need 4 wheel drive to get some places. It wasn't quite as remote as I had imagined, but I think that is a failing of my imagination as the description does say that a road runs right next to one of the cabins. The sounds of people can be heard (distant radios, traffic, dogs barking) so you are not in a remote jungle location. This didn't bother us, other than one night when a church held a service down the road over loud speakers which ended around 9:00 pm. I think this was unusual and a special occasion for the church. Otherwise the evenings were very quiet with bird and insect sounds all around. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the cabins are very well stocked. We never met Melody, but she was very responsive through WhatsApp and her suggestions for things to do were perfect. We did meet Rod, the caretaker of the property and he was very friendly and helpful, loaning us a cooler for our trip to Caracol. Overall, an excellent stay and a great find! Highly recommended.
