The hotel appears to have undergone some recent renovations, which are appreciated and give parts of the space a refreshed look. However, several basic amenities were missing that significantly impacted our comfort. There was no in-room safe or mini fridge—features we expected as standard in a 3-star hotel. When we inquired, the receptionist simply said, “This is a 3-star hotel,” which came across as dismissive.
The floorboards were also extremely noisy, making it difficult to move around at night without waking others. We were further disappointed by the occasional smell of cigarette smoke in our non-smoking Level 2 room. Given the pub downstairs and the number of tables outside the entrance where people smoke, it's possible the smell entered through the ventilation or open doors. If not, it raises concerns that smoking may be happening inside the building.
While some updates have clearly been made, the lack of basic amenities, noisy flooring, and lingering smoke smells made our stay less comfortable than we had hoped.
