Avoid - scam. I often use Expedia and have always been very satisfied with the services. However, today I encountered a serious problem at Hilton Cabo Verde (Sal – Cape Verde).
Although I paid the full room price in advance through the platform (excluding taxes, which were to be paid locally), I was forced to pay the full amount again at a higher room rate upon check-out. They claimed they had received no payment from Expedia.
I refused to pay, but my taxi was physically stopped until I paid, and they threatened to involve the police. That’s not a situation I wanted to be in while in Africa, especially just two hours before my flight. I was therefore forced to pay a second time, at a higher rate.
I have all proof of booking with and the double payment to the hotel.
A hotel like this doesn’t belong on this platform.
