Family friendly and luxurious holiday home in Normandy, near Mont Saint-Michel
Close to Mont Saint-Michel is the child-friendly holiday home La Minoterie. A recently restored watermill from 1870. The detached holiday home is situated in a wooded, green valley on a generous plot of land - 10,000 m2 - through which a clattering stream flows.

Ideal for children!
Playing outside, playing in the water, trampoline jumping or playing football on the large lawn. Also watching sheep, trout fishing along the flowing brook and gathering wood for a campfire are fantastic adventures. In the basement a table football, shuffleboard and a dart board for children and parents is ready.

Layout
The 5 floors of La Minoterie are each more than 110 m2. On the large terrace with barbecue at the entrance you can all have a nice meal and long wet food.

Ground floor apartment (0) - 4 sleeping places
On the ground floor, behind the spacious hall is a beautiful apartment furnished for 4 to 6 people. The modern cozy living room with two large sofas stands around the wood-burning fireplace. There is also a satellite TV. The spacious open kitchen is fully equipped. The gas stove has an oven, a large freestanding fridge with freezer drawers, a dishwasher, microwave and sufficient utensils. Here you can cook deliciously and then dine on the long sturdy tree table. The apartment has 2 bedrooms with double beds and a separate pleasant bathroom with shower. This floor has no stairs.

Top Floor and Vide (+1) - 8 sleeping places
This atmospheric floor with its old beam part is spacious and light. You can easily be together with 18 people in the living room. The spacious seating area has modern luxury seating around the wood-burning fireplace. There is a satellite TV, a wonderful lounge area and a cozy seating, reading or games corner. The spacious open kitchen is fully equipped. The large gas stove has an oven. There is a high standing fridge with freezer drawers, a dishwasher, microwave and sufficient kitchen utensils. Here you can all dine al fresco at the old tree tables and enjoy a good glass of wine. On this floor there is also a bedroom with a double bed and a spacious bathroom with a bath and toilet. With a staircase you reach the light loft. Here are 2 sleeping areas with 2 single beds and 4 double beds. For example in the ridge, under the old beams it is wonderful to sleep.

Mino floor (-1) - 8 sleeping places
The stairs to the mino floor is on the ground floor in the hall. On this floor are 4 beautiful spacious bedrooms each with its own comfortable bathroom. Of these 3 bedrooms have a double bed with a bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin. The other bedroom has 2 single beds and a bathroom with toilet and sink.

Cellar (-2)
In the basement there is a table football, dart board and a shuffleboard for the children.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.

Week-end copains

Nous avons passé un super week-end entre amis. La maison est très bien équipée et décorée avec goût. Tout était parfait. Nous gardons l’adresse et la recommanderons à nos proches. Il faut juste savoir que la maison comporte beaucoup d’escaliers donc n’est pas adaptée aux personnes à mobilité réduite.

Un gîte confortable et très bien équipé, nous avons beaucoup aimé. Attention toutefois la description n'est pas très explicite : la grande salle à manger / séjour est au premier étage, accessible uniquement par escalier.

Wonderful Family Time

We are a 4 generation family that stayed 5 days and had the most wonderful time. The house comfortably accommodated 14 of us ranging in age from 2 - 79 years. The views are amazing and there is a large yard with a trampoline and swing set that entertained our younger ones for many hours. The 2 kitchens are well equipped and it is a nice walk to the lovely village. I highly recommend this rental.

Maison parfaite pour des vacances en famille

La maison est belle, vaste, et décorée avec beaucoup de goût. Elle est parfaitement adaptée à une grande famille ou un groupe d'amis avec des espaces où chacun peut s'isoler s'il le désire. La maison est confortable: bonne literie, belles salles de bains, poêles à bois, cuisines bien équipées et la salle de jeux est un plus appréciable. Le fait d'avoir 2 salles de séjour/cuisines permettent aux plus matinaux de prendre le petit déjeuner tout en laissant les autres faire la grasse matinée ou de créer un espace plus calme pour ceux qui le désirent. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour.

Fabulous home!!!

We had a wonderful time. The house was nicer than expected. The furnishings are much better than most vacation rentals. Outside its beautiful, peaceful and fun. Our familyreally enjoyed it.

A fantastic holiday home for a large group

We spent 7 nights at the moulin as a group of 5 families. The beds were super comfortable. The property is well equipped and had everything we needed. Lots of chairs for inside and outside. A fantastic games room. WiFi worked really well too. Lots of bathrooms and toilets. All the required kitchen equipment and lots of it. It was nice to be within walking distance of St James. The little town has a carrefour express, cheese and wine shop, butchers, restaurants, little bars, vets and a hospital. The large garden with a trampoline was well used by the kids, as we're the goal posts. There is even a little stream at the bottom where we bathed on a hot day. All in all, a wonderful holiday home. Thank you for having us.

Perfect place

We were a group of 13 friends enjoying a one-week get together with lots of activities in and around the house and splendid weather. La Minoterie was the perfect place for us, offering a long list of amenities and, above all, plenty of kitchen space for the wonderful chef-à-domicile Sébastien Godefroy and his wife Holly. They provided us with three lavish dinners and an in-depth introduction into Normandy specialites with detailed comments in French and English. He had been recommended by the tourist office, but he is also on Facebook or Linkedin.

Mauvaise surprise

Un gite magnifique, parfait entre amis ou en famille mais ne soyez ni en avance à l’arrivée ni en retard pour le départ. 50€ de facturé pour arriver en début d’après-midi plutôt qu’à 16h. Par ailleurs 200€ de frais de nettoyage ne suffisent pas, parce que le lave vaisselle était propre mais non vidé, 3 mégot de cigarettes posés à côté du barbecue, 3 lits non défaits … = 75€ de frais de nettoyage supplémentaire (275€ en tout) malgré avoir essayé de communiquer avec les femmes de ménages, aucun commentaire et la facture arrive quelques jours après. Profitez bien du séjour mais prévoyez un peu plus de budget que prévu.

70th Birthday celebrations

We are a large family with 4 Children and 9 Grandchildren and wanted to celebrate my 70th and my Husbands 70th, which was in lockdown. The house was perfect for the 3 generations and the garden was safe for even the youngest 5 year olds to play so that the adults could relax. The facilities for the children and adults was fantastic, with a trampoline, football goals, volleyball net and the boule court and a games room. The weather was amazing and we eat outside every day, there was plenty of everything we needed. We were able to get fresh bread and croissants at the local boulangerie. The beds were super comfortable and it was so peaceful that we slept really well. Altogether an amazing holiday in a wonderful house.

Incroyable !

Un emplacement idéal et un logement super confortable

Bien placée, la maison d'Arnold et Anouk est également un nid douillet ! L'intérieur est chaleureux, super convivial. Les lits sont très confortables. La salle de jeux au rez-de-chaussée est un vrai plus. Il y'a beaucoup d'escaliers, mais ce n'est pas très gênant. Ils sont dotés de portes, pas de soucis pour les enfants.

La Minoterie is situated in a lovely location, minutes walk from the quiet village of St James. The house is very well equipped from the kitchen area to the games room in the basement. The property is ideal for a family reunion or a get together for a group of friends.

An absolute gem

The property is perfectly located in St James, yet secluded in quiet surroundings. In reality the property is more beautiful than the pictures do it justice. The property had absolutely everything we needed, and communicating with the host was a breeze.

Belle demeure confortable

Très bel endroit au calme à la campagne mais proche de tous commerces. Une très belle demeure très bien aménagée, joliment décorée où rien ne manque et tout est fonctionnel et surtout confortable. L'espace autour est très appréciable pour se divertir au grand air, la tonnelle devant la maison est fort agréable. Tout est pensé pour passer un agréable moment, c'est parfait.

Spacieux tranquille

La Minoterie est une très grande bâtisse, superbement rénovée, parfaitement équipée et très propre. Isolée dans un écrin de verdure avec la rivière en contrebas, elle est idéale pour organiser des réunions de famille. Merci Anouk et Arnold.

La Minoterie

The location and property were ideal for our 3-generation family holiday. The house is well-equipped and spacious, and the games room and garden offered welcome space for the children. The outdoor eating area and the riverside are an additional bonus. Saint-James is a pretty town which has everything one would need. It’s an ideal location for exploring this region including Bayeux and Mont St Michel. Lots of happy memories!

The house was perfect ! Spacious, warm, pleasant and well equipped. Bring warm clothes anyway so as not to be cold because it is a country house. Everything was perfect, thank you so much to the hosts. I also recommend you without hesitation, the very educational guide Gaëlle, the content of the visit ( Mont Saint-Michel ) was very accessible and fun. Really exciting !!
