"The rooms were so hot couldn’t be helped in this heat but couldn’t sleep art all , gave us a fan but it wasn’t much good , breakfast was ok but on the first morning run out of orange juice and coffee machine wasn’t working that well . The reality is that for a 4 star hotel, the quality and range of options was extremely poor. Too many short cuts and cost cutting. The veggie options were limitd and not displayed on the tables and there were no extras (eg crushed avocado) even if you were willing to pay a bit extra. "Food poisoning the first night, rooms hotter than the sun, zero water pressure in the bathrooms. Constantly chasing staff for the most simple things. They ran out of ice. No fans for the rooms. No one collecting glasses or emptying an ash tray. Asked for a coffee in the morning and waited 15 minutes.. got up to ask where it was "oh i couldn't find you" yeah because you were in the kitchen flirting with the chef.. Could be such a wonderful place, if the staff weren't recreating Fawlty Towers"

"Friendly staff in a hotel/pub on the High St with free parking at the back. Our room was spacious and clean. It was very warm so two quiet fans were provided. Bathroom was large and modern with lots of hot water. You might need to know the kitchen closes at 9.15 in the evening (we missed it!) and the staircases are quite narrow and steep if you have any mobility problems. Room smelt of dog after a while and the room needs a new lick of paint as does other areas .not a bad place just a little tlc needed .also breakfast couldn't see a price anywhere so didn't pre order one as you have to do that. "The general overall stay was super. The staff very helpful especially when we had a problem with our tv, came and sorted it straight away. "Good location, 2 pubs very near and a 5 minute walk to Lyndhurst. Could have been a bit cleaner (only a couple of cobwebs on a light fitting nothing serious or off putting) but good for a reasonably priced Hotel. Reception friendly and helpful. We will go there again. P.S. Its very dog friendly."

Great room a deluxe double, plenty of space and they do service the room each day unlike this new disgusting habit other hotels have started to save costs. "Lovely setting, great welcome, food superb, staff friendly and helpful We had the suite (kingfisher) which was an excellent room except for a radiator being stuck on in the bathroom. The lady in charge (lovely lass) managed to get it sorted as the outside temp was up in the 30’s!!! If I have any criticism of the room, a little use of bleach would have gone a long way but please don’t let that put you off. The place is very very good.
