"Doesn’t look great from the outside but fine inside as long as you’re not in one of the “upper floor” rooms of this dormer bungalow type house. Low sloped ceilings. Not ideal for a tall person. Facilities very good, plenty of equipment in the kitchen and a nice sun room were you can eat your meals."

"Great overnight stay. Welcoming staff and excellent food at fair prices. Would happily stay again. As a suggestion- Bedside lights would have been appreciated."

"Loved the place , it was lovely and clean. The staff was all very polite. Only thing for us was there was a wedding there the next day and we felt out of place as they took over the whole hotel so we stayed in our room as we felt out of place. We didn’t have evening meal there for this reason. Next day we also waited as late as possible to have our breakfast as the whole dining room was full of the wedding party. "

"Our stay with Guido and Maria was wonderful. They were both incredibly welcoming, and it was heart warming to experience such genuine hospitality. Guido is an excellent host, and Maria’s award-winning breakfasts were absolutely delicious. Their hard work and attention to detail were evident throughout our visit—our room was spotless, tastefully decorated, and thoughtfully arranged with little touches that made our stay so enjoyable. "St Ives is a nice place, it still has a tradition, no chain, department store for goodness sake. The Golden Lion is a good base to explore from. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The bar and restaurant is nicely laid out and decorated. Breakfast was excellent. All in all, really nice. Would I stay again? Yes, most definitely."

"The house and grounds are stunning. The rooms are basic, but this does not matter to me, as long as the bed is comfortable, which it was. The breakfast was good. The evening meals were limited in choice, but fine for me. Great to be able to sit out on the terrace and look onto the manicured lawns and topiary. My only gripe was that people were moving around in the early hours and this was very audible, but that’s not the fault of the property, except for perhaps making the doors less slammable....
