The hotel has a big wow factor when you first arrive. Shortly after this we got knocked back down when dealing with the night reception staff. We were given an adjoining room when we first arrived which we only discovered when entering the room. It had 2 doors, one of which we have no ides where it went other than it opened in to our room. My wife wasn’t comfortable so I went to reception to swap rooms. They did swap the rooms but seemed annoyed at having to do it. The new room was much better and had the sofa bed, which was missing in the previous room. The room in general is fairly good, clean and maintained but doesn’t have the usual things like irons, restaurant opening times, room service menus etc. All we had was a number for room service but no menu and a spa package booklet.
The breakfast room/restaurant is amazing and a lovely place to have a few drinks after a day out. Don’t eat in the restaurant though as it’s not very good.The food was very bland and cold, the same with breakfast. There is a large selection for breakfast but the hot food is very tasteless. Despite this the staff in the restaurant and bar were all very helpful and friendly and it’s just the food that is not very good. There are fantastic restaurants close by so it’s not an issue but obviously well known as the restaurant was always empty. The bar staff were very friendly and made nice cocktails.
I would stay again but wouldn’t eat in the restaurant again and would go out for breakfast.
