"Delightful, modernized adobe compound with only 7-8 comfortable and inviting suites. Breakfast was served at a communal table with glass drinking glasses, ceramic plates and mugs, and metal cutlery. The rooms also had glasses and ceramic mugs. Comfortable chairs and beds. I would have liked better lighting, but still better than most hotels. Good restaurants and shopping within walking distance. "This property can be valet only at random times, be advised they do not lend out luggage carts. You will have to have the valet wait while you select the bags you want them to bring up the room. It’s awkward following them on foot while they park your car, then they watch you while you select which bags you want brought up. "So I’ll start with the positive, I’ve stayed in several historical hotels in San Antonio, Austin, Manatou Springs, and La Fonda is definitely historic. That being said, our room had holes in the wall and obvious patches on others with no evidence of new paint. I had booked a suite (bedroom and sitting room), but got a two bedroom room with no sitting area. If it had been any other weekend (Feista), I would have refused the room. "From check-in to check-out the staff were accommodating, attentive, and courteous. The room was perfect in every way for myself, my husband, and two adult sons. LOVED the natural soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion! What I disliked was the very personal and loud conversation of 2 female staff on 7/12/26 at the continental breakfast. It interfered with my morning solitude ."

"The first room was terrible in the older section of the property. It was dangerous to get to. I fell twice trying to get to the room. The stairs were treacherous. OSHA would Not approve this area,especially for seniors. The replacement room was just OK, especially for the rate that was charged.
