Experience the romance of Sicily in our fully equipped, 5 Airconditioned bedroomed family Villa nestled in vast countryside at the foot of the Village Racalmuto, Agrigento.
Our Sicilian Villa has easy access to grand historical sites like The Valley of the Temples and Piazza Armerina, intimate village festivals & markets where you can sample village life littered with authentic sumptuous eateries – or just relax in the gardens surrounded by fig, olive and peach trees where the local bread and fish man comes to you – all you need is to shade on the veranda, soak up the sun and dip in our private pool to cool off – and maybe pay a cheeky visit (or two) to the local wine producers cantina just to top up the bounty of the local land!
Our Villa is made by our family for other families, so whilst we do not allow parties, we celebrate family time (Children’s facilities catered for of course) with a large very well equipped kitchen, cooling with white plaster silk like walls, shutters and mosquito blinds throughout, downstairs spacious living interiors with sweeping staircase to bedrooms upstairs, including 2 with verandas and of course air conditioning for a good night’s sleep.

Superb villa and host

We had a super 2 weeks in this villa. Giuseppe is a brilliant host. From day 1 communication was helpful and prompt. All information was passed on at the relevant point. He could not have been better. The villa is really well-equipped and comfortable. The pool was a real boon when the weather was hot and was well maintained and cleaned every few days. The villa was easy to find and was well placed to access a lot of local sites. Thank you, Giuseppe for a fantastic holiday.

The villa is beautiful, lovely inside and out. Very spacious and it really has everything inside you could need. The pool area is very large and the pool is large and beautiful, our only issue was the lack of workable umbrella stands as there is no shade around the pool until about 4pm. We didnt find too much to do local to the villa, there is a nice restaurant (La Taberna) in rucalmuto but we drove to San Leone, which had an array of resturants and beautiful beaches and just 20 mins drive from the villa. There is a supermarket 5 mins drive up the road, which isnt huge but very well stocked and reasonable priced. We had a lovely stay in a beautiful villa and whilst the large motorway road is very close it isnt very busy so doesnt disturb you.

Relaxation, Good Food and History

On arriving at the villa we were met by the housekeeper who let us in and went through keys security and internet with us. All very easy. The villa is exactly as described very large with everything you could need. 5 double bedrooms 2 shower rooms and air con in all bedrooms. Large kitchen dining living area. Lovely veranda with table and chairs ( We lived out there to be honest). Lovely pool area. (Pool Man came several times cleaned pool and patio and removed rubbish and recycling.) Th villa is surrounded by a high hedge with double gate and is quiet and private. We had a lovely holiday. The Valley of the temples is close by in Agrigento and we found many other historical sights, castles and churches in the surrounding towns and villages. Racalmuto and Grotte the closest places have many good bars, restaurants and supermarkets. The drive to the Villa from Catania airport was about 1 hour 50 mins on good roads. We also visited Cefalu and Palermo on the North Coast which is about a 1 hour 30 min drive and well worth seeing. Lovely House and lovely island.

Sehr gut, das Personal war kommunikativ und hilfsbereit. Auch der Kontakt mit dem Besitzer war top, jederzeit erreichbar. Leider waren die Kleiderschränke nicht komplett leer. Auch im Bad war nicht genügend Platz im Schrank um die Kosmetika und sonstiges unter zubringen. Pool sehr gut gepflegt.

Haus mit Pool

Giuseppe ist ein sehr freundlich und unkompliziert. Die Kommunikation verlief stets prompt und konkret. Die Räumlichkeiten in der `Villa´ sind wie beschrieben großzügig, stilvoll, solide und gepflegt. Es herrscht eine angenehme Wohnatmosphäre, die Ausstattung ist z.T. etwas in die Jahre gekommen (Kühlschrank, defekte Spülmaschine), die Terrasse ist großzügig und lädt zum Verweilen ein. Das abgeschlossene Grundstück ist recht weitläufig mit vielen Olivenbäumen und großer geplättelter Nutzfläche rund um das Haus. Das Schwimmbecken macht, wie auch das Haus, einen gepflegten Eindruck und ist natürlich eine Wohltat, gerade an heißen Tagen. Leider funktionierte zu unserer Reisezeit das in der Beschreibung gelistete WLAN nicht - angeblich nur vorübergehend - was für uns mehr als ärgerlich war, zumal wir ausgerechnet für diese Woche unbedingt auf das Internet angewiesen waren. Der Empfang über unsere privaten mobilen Daten war dort leider nur mäßig und daher nur ein schlechter Ersatz. In der Beschreibung war nirgends die Rede von der nur wenige hundert Meter entfernt verlaufenden Autobahn, deren Lärm je nach Tag und Tageszeit die von uns erhoffte Urlaubsruhe mit zirpenden Grillen an romantischen Sommerabenden bei Kerzenschein am Pool oder aber auch ein entspanntes ruhiges Frühstück usw. mitunter sehr stark beeinträchtigte. Die unmittelbare Umgebung um das Haus hat nichts Bahnbrechendes zu bieten. Man ist definitiv auf das Auto angewiesen. Die nächsten Ortschaften Racalmuto und Grotte - und damit auch die nächsten Lebensmittelgeschäfte - befinden sich etwa fünf km vom Haus entfernt. Nach Agrigent bzw. zum Tal der Tempel gelangt man nach nur etwa 15 Minuten Autofahrt, zum nächsten Strand kommen noch einmal etwa 10 Minuten hinzu. Alles in allem war das Ferienhaus "Racalmuto" für unsere Reise eine willkommene, in gewisser Weise luxuriöse Abwechslung weg von der Küste, um auch einen Eindruck von Land und Leben im "Landesinneren" zu bekommen. Der Pool war toll für die Kinder. Die Lage empfanden wir als nur bedingt gut, den Zustand des Hauses insgesamt als gut. Wem nach ein bisschen Luxus ist und wer kein Problem damit hat, etwas isoliert mitten auf dem Land und damit in Abhängigkeit vom Auto zu wohnen, und wer nicht gerade die absolute Ruhe sucht, wird sich hier sicher wohlfühlen. Als Ausgangspunkt zur Erkundung des "Landesinneren" ist ´Racalmuto´ zu empfehlen. (Familie mit drei Kindern 11/15/17, Aufenthalt fünf Tage, Mitte August 2021)

Wonderful, spacious villa

We spent a blissful two weeks in August staying at the villa and really couldn't have been happier. The villa is immaculate, well-equipped and rather larger than the photographs online suggest. We arrived in the blistering Sicilian summer heat to find a cool sanctuary, with a delicious tray of local fruit and bread to sample (plus some delicious red wine) and everything we needed for a relaxing stay, from the spotless pool to the abundance of towels. A really nice touch was the presence of inflatable pool toys, which helped to keep our children amused along with a wealth of loungers and chairs. The main road through the area is near enough to be very easily accessible but far enough that you're entirely unaware of its existence while relaxing by the pool. There's a reasonably large supermarket five minutes up the road and a rather larger Conad hypermarket in Agrigento at the Centro Commerciale Città dei Templi. Agrigento and the Valle dei Templi (a world heritage site of Greek and Roman origin) are about 15 minutes away by car and both the town and the temples are well worth a visit - there are, of course, innumerable restaurants to visit, every one of which that we visited was first rate and, to British wallets, extremely reasonably-priced. Speaking of restaurants, La Taberna in nearby Racalmuto is convenient and lovely, while our (vegetarian) children really enjoyed Opera in Agrigento (as, admittedly, did we!). Further afield, Baglio Balata in Enna is lovely and, if you find yourself in Syracusa with vegetarians in need of sustenance, Zenzero is a gem. We tried two water parks while in Sicily, Scivolandia Cammarata and Etnaland. Both were spotlessly clean and absolutely great fun! The former was smaller and a little friendlier while the latter was immense and some of the rides were not for the faint-hearted! The villa was a perfect base for our exploration of Sicily - the only shame is that we had to leave! Loved it.
