Our family welcomes you to a slice of our Portland life. We live in a quiet residential neighborhood where the sounds you are most likely to encounter are the distant squawks of our backyard chickens, the pitter-patter of raindrops on the skylight, or the occasional children's squeal or dog bark.

Jewel in the Sky in Portland, OR is a converted loft above our garage using all new construction and furnishings to give you a truly luxurious and modern get-away experience. The interior style will make you feel refreshed, energized and comfortable. The 340 sq. ft. space resembles a studio apartment that offers an open floor plan with a vaulted ceiling. You have your choice of flooding light or blackout darkness with our flexible window options/features. The central skylight offers a partial view of mature Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar trees off to the west. To the east, you have views of the top of our nearby extinct volcano, Mt. Tabor (which also happens to offer numerous hiking paths and a gorgeous view of downtown Portland and the sunset).

While we know many people will be out adventuring for much of your stays, we wanted a cozy place people could use as a respite from a busy day of adventuring (or to enjoy for an extended-length stay). We have tried to incorporate as many of the little amenities we could think of (and fit in) so that our guests are not wanting for anything.

IMAGINE YOUR STAY
Ease into your first morning with complimentary Stumptown coffee, Starbucks Hot Chocolate, Stash tea, bubbly water, fresh fruit, oatmeal, yogurt (and usually some other surprises).

Then, get a fresh start to your day in the private full bathroom that boasts a tiled shower/tub, a bidet washlette, complimentary toiletries, hair dryer, curling iron and more.

If "chef'-ing is on the agenda, the full kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator/freezer, stovetop range, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster, and state of the art Multi-Pure water filtration system. A tasteful selection of dishes and cookware will make your experience fun and inspiring. Of course, if you're in the mood for a fancy dinner out, a food cart specialty or anything in-between, you'll have plenty of mouthwatering options to choose from in this gastronomic hub of Portland.

Alternatively, you can also order takeout, sink into the couch and catch up on your favorite shows or movies at home with our 40” flat screen Smart TV on wheels (watch from anywhere in the unit). We offer Satellite DIRECTV with 150+ channels plus apps (like Netflix, Hulu) to stream your favorite shows (using your personal subscriptions).

Finally, unwind at the end of your day in the plush queen bed topped with a memory foam mattress. It is so comfy you will curl your toes in delight and feel the bed give you a big, warm hug! Turn on the sound spa machine for a variety of nature sounds to put your mind at ease. The queen bed is constructed with headboard shelves to easily contain personal items including electronic devices, C-Pap machines, reading materials or that soothing evening glass of wine. Adjustable and dimmable bedside lighting allows late-night reading without bothering your partner. Ceiling height wardrobe cabinets can store your clothes and shoes in an organized fashion. While our space is most comfortable for two people, we can accommodate up to four people utilizing the queen-sized sleeper sofa as needed.

If you must break the fun and do some laundry, we offer an ALL-IN-ONE washer/dryer machine. This is a common space-saving machine used in Europe, in which one machine does both the washing and drying. This means one load can take hours to complete (ideal for starting a load before you head out for the day and coming back to a finished load of laundry, but not ideal if you will have many loads of laundry to clean). We have a nearby laundromat for bulk laundry, if you have that need.

GUEST ACCESS
You will access the garage loft by walking up our driveway toward the garage and entering through a side door of the garage. A keyless touch-screen deadbolt allows for easy access and security (a personal code will be assigned to you based on the last four digits of the phone number on the reservation). You will then ascend one flight of indoor stairs to reach the loft.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
*We have ability to speak in limited conversational Spanish and Japanese.

*If you need to use the sleeper sofa or EV charger, please notify us in your reservation request so that we may have it ready for you.

*Our unit is not safety-enhanced for young explorers.

*You will need to climb one flight of stairs to enter this unit.
