You will love our clean 4 bedroom/2 bath cottage as much as we do! The home is located in a quiet sub right in downtown Port Austin. Fully stocked with everything you need from pots and pans all the way to a beach supplies. Relax and have dinner on our deck or have cocktails on the front screened porch - both with lake views across the road (not directly on water). Walk to the Farmer's Market and restaurants in town, Paks Backyard, kayak rental, marina, Glen Royal Wedding Venue and the State Harbor in minutes. Bird Creek Park and Beach and splash pad are right in our neighborhood. Literally walk everywhere!
(Please keep in mind that your booking amount includes a refundable security deposit when totaled).
*Sleeps 10 ~Two bedrooms have Queen beds and two have full beds. Two couches in the living room if you need some more room.
*Two bathrooms. One full with shower and tub and the other with shower.
* Appliances: stove/oven, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and toaster.
* No dishwasher or laundry facilities, however, the Coffee
Bean and Clean is about 0.1 miles up the street. Grab a
coffee and throw in a load of laundry if needed.
* Linens provided : towels, sheets, pillows and blankets . We have some beach towels not many.
* Fire pit. Additional chairs behind house.
* Huge yard for games (we have games for use)
* Help yourselves to our beach supplies cooler, wifi, DVD/VHS. Smart TV

*Central air/heat Please respect our neighbors. Quiet hours 11pm.

We loved the porch and all the knotty pine. Beds were clean and comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked. The Weber grill was new. The closest beach wasn't swimmable but was pretty. The only constructive comment i offer is that the toilet in the shower bathroom rocks becase the floor and tile need to be replaced. The vrbo service fee and breakage insurance fees were excessive and left us with a negative view for future rentals with them.

This house is well stocked with needed supplies and also clean. It is a very easy walk to a nearby beach that was not busy while we were there during early August. You can also easily drive to several other beaches within 10 minutes. The host is responsive and helpful. If you have a little down time at the house you can also try to solve some mysteries. It is a great place to relax! I would definitely book this place again!

Escape to serenity

My grand children, two thirteen year old boys and one 11 year old girl and I hold what we fondly call Grammy Camp each summer. The cousins get some extended time together and I get to enjoy exploring our state with them. This cottage was perfect for us, everyone got their own room, 2 bathrooms (need I say more?), and the kitchen was so well equipped for anything we might have wanted to cook! I especially enjoyed the screen porch in the mornings for a peaceful cup of coffee, we also used the porch to do some crafting (painting stones with paint pens, no mess!); the dvd selection is epic, and later in the evenings we enjoyed a fire outside in the fire ring. We walked several times down to Bird Creek Park, my distance runner grandson did his daily runs on the peaceful streets and sidewalks, and we found many places to explore within a 30 minute drive. The owner supplied an ample number of towels, and was quick to reply when contacted.

2025 Porchfest with friends

We traveled to Port Austin for the 2025 Porchfest with a group of friends and stayed at this rental. We were very close to all the activities, music, town and the beach. Everything was in walking distance.The unit was roomy enough for the 8 of us. There were 4 bedrooms with either full or queen beds. Our bed was comfortable but a few in the group said they kept sinking toward the middle of their bed. We cooked most of our meals at the house, with a low country boil outside on one night. Delicious!! There were also a number of good restaurants and food in the area. I would recommend this as a rental property for friends and family.

Cozy cottage

This is the perfect space for a stay in Port Austin. Mary is an excellent host and extremely responsive. She helped us download an app on the TV to watch the Tigers and even helped find my husbands wedding ring/send it back after our stay. Her kindness and responsiveness made for the most comfortable stay, plus the house is stocked with helpful necessities.

Perfect Location!

Very well stocked with just about anything you could think of needing. Only thing you need to bring is your clothes, food and shower products. The host is fabulous and responds quickly. We will definitely be back as we felt comfortable and at home.

Great place! Perfect location. Enjoyed the nautical themes in the house along with the screened porch with the fun decorative lights. Easy to walk to park - even saw a deer on one of our walks! Would definitely recommend and would return again!

Wonderful, clean home. Very well-stocked with just about everything you need! Nice location, with a great "lake view"!! Cute nautical decor, and lighthouse decor (my favorite!) inside. Excellent, top-notch, quick-response communication with Mary, the owner of home. Very pleased with our stay!

Overall a decent stay. Pros: Affordable, very well equipped with kitchenware, beach toys, and towels, as well as papergoods. Great location and walkable to town. The cons: Walls in the back bedrooms are essentially just plywood/paneling. You can hear every breath, snore, conversation, TV through the walls. You can also see through the cracks in the corners where the walls come together. Finally, the bedroom and back bathroom doors are all wood with metal latches and several did not latch/lock and thus would not stay shut which is problematic when trying to change and/or if you like your door shut at night. We ended up propping something against the doors to keep them closed. Just a heads up that the lack of quiet/privacy may be an issue for small children trying to nap and/or those who need quiet to sleep.

Wedding in town

We had a wedding in town and this rental was within walking distance to the venue. It had everything you needed and you could even see the water! I had to reach out to the host and she replied within the hour.
