"Great stay during heat wave. Luckily chose this hotel with air-conditioning. Breakfast was excellent and staff very pleasant and helpful."

"Room was very basic Shower had very little pressure Was more like a chalet Asked for a fan due to hot weather but nothing materialised Pillows were lumpy Room was extremely hot so had no choice but to sleep with the door wide open Didn’t want to risk eating breakfast Chap on reception was nice though"

"We stayed at this hotel in order to visit the National Museum which is nearby. It is also close to Queen Street station. We enjoyed the overall ambience of the hotel and particularly liked the restaurant and the roof top bar. The staff of the restaurant/bar provided excellent service at dinner and breakfast. The range of choices available for breakfast was excellent. Our stay coincided with the heatwave but the room was air conditioned and cool."

"Clean comfortable guest house. Note it has a shared bathroom and toilets . Plenty of facilities kettle and tea in room and kitchen. Shared use of full kitchen. It was the days of the heatwave so uncomfortable only because of that. Bed very comfortable clean linen and towels. All guests were very in tune with quiet period 10 pm to 8 am. I was aid for street parking through guest house arrived early and managed to park directly outside."

"The Parkgate is centrally located and a fantastic option when visiting Cardiff. The service is great and the room was well appointed. The breakfast buffet was really good!"

"The hotel is tired and has an overwhelming smell of stale smoke in the hallways and bedrooms. Staff were friendly but miscommunication between the front desk and housekeeping, meant that requests were missed or forgotten. Best bit of the hotel is the bar and outdoor terrace. The pool was lovely but the changing rooms were not. Definitely gives off conference vibes - would not stay there for pleasure."

"The Hotel looked really nice from outside but BEWARE booking this hotel on Expedia. We booked a room over a year in advance and after driving 300 miles for 6 hours the desk workers informed us that the hotel doesn't actually recognise booking made through Expedia. We were not informed of this until we turned up only to find we had no where to stay for the night. Expedia were incredibly unhelpful on the phone and after an hour of trying to sort out their mistakes I hung up the phone and sorted...

"The staff were friendly and helpful, allowing storage of luggage and early check-in when we arrived. Room 109 was very small, with a waste-of-space secondary door and limited floor space. The card holder for the electricity connection was hidden when the door was opened, making it difficult to locate in the dark. The shower was very small with a triangular wall at one end, toilet was almost underneath the wash basin and there was very little space in the bathroom for toiletries and washing...

"Room was overpriced for a concert, £400 per night when £220 normally. I’d expect an uplift but not this much. Room was worn, fan and windows dusty and unclean. Other room had no hot water in shower so unable to use. Noisy and limited sleep although bed comfortable No bar as closed. WiFi non existent and no 5G signal so if you want a quiet night and no shower then ideal place. Breakfast mediocre"

"Staff were very helpful and friendly. Nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely but a bit cold. Air conditioning in our room was lousy, not cold enough and air flow was ineffective, room was way too hot to sleep in. Location was great for city centre"

"Myself and my son had a 2 night stay at The Leonardo and would definitely stay again, the hotel is in a very central location which was ideal for exploring Cardiff, the hotel was very clean and well maintained and the staff we lovely and friendly especially Joanna on reception."

"Hotel was very nice the only problem we had that we along with others were having problems with key cards not allowing entry to room having to go back to reception on two occasions- however the staff were excellent in assistance with the matter."
