Good alternative if Tebay services hotel is full!

Clean, tastefully decorated room with old photos of local scenes. Tea & coffee-making facilities in room, excellent bar meal - everything you need really. In quiet rural village but within easy reach of motorway.

Great Hotel in a quiet location.

Brilliant stay with great hosts. The room was clean, evening meal was very nice and the breakfast was good. The location is just off the M6 but without the noise of the motorway. I will definitely stay again when I’m next in the area.

Good value inn in village setting

We had an overnight stay at The George on our way home from holiday and it was ideally located just off the M6. The owners and staff are very welcoming and friendly and we had a very nice evening meal and an excellent breakfast. The room was a little old fashioned, but was clean and comfortable.

Excellent! Value for money!

From arrival the staff were friendly and helpful, asked if we wanted help with our bags, took breakfast order night before which meant when we went for breakfast there was no waoting around, the breakfast itself was lovely! Room was in keeping with the local aesthetic, but modern and well kept. Can't fault the place at all!

We loved our one short night here

The inn keepers were so great. So kind and accommodating. The breakfast was 5 ⭐️. The location was wonderful out in the country and quiet. It’s an older hotel which is part of its appeal. Rooms are comfortable and they had great pillows.

Orion odyssey

A stop over on way from Edinburgh to south coast. A chance booking but a gem of a find. Popular with walkers on east west pennines way who are happy to chat and exchange experiences. Helpful host and staff, good british food and fascinating little village to explore. Well worth a visit- we will certainly be back.’

Excellent value for money. Pleasant, helpful hosts

Solo overnight stay. Nice welcome by hosts after a long journey. Room was big and airy, bed very comfortable. Evening meal and breakfast were lovely. There is an attached beer garden and the breeze in the evening was most appreciated, especially after the long hot journey. Felt comfortable throughout my stay Hope to book again on my return trip back to Scotland.

The most amazing small hotel. They only have a few rooms and our group used 5 of the 6 rooms. So accommodating. We showed up late and left fairly early. Hosts were the absolute best. They checked us in and cooked us breakfast. All I can say is wow!
