Antico Baglio Siciliano #2

The house draws its particular charm from the uniqueness of its architectural surroundings.
It is located inside an ancient baglio, a typical Sicilian rural courtyard enclosed with a large door, at the centre of which lies a mulberry tree.
The house is on two floors and covers about 65 square meters. The entrance opens onto a large dining area with a nice kitchen, comfortable and organized. Also on the ground floor is the bedroom, spacious and bright, with two large windows overlooking a magnificent olive grove. The double bed (160 x 200) allows for a third bed or cot (both on request). Next to the bedroom is a bathroom with a spacious and elegant shower.

A stone staircase leads to the mezzanine where you find the living area, also usable as a second bedroom for 2/3 people. There is a sofa bed (140x 200) and enough space for an extra bed. This area leads to a lovely terrace (15 sq m) on the roofs of the baglio where you can have breakfast with the morning sun, sunbathe in privacy or enjoy the cool of the evening. The house overlooks the courtyard of the baglio and in the reserved space in front of it you can relax on a sun lounger or dine by candlelight.
The house is the result of a recent restoration using recycled materials such as ancient stones and railings, and the choice of handmade terracotta for the floors and chestnut beams for the ceilings, give it a particular charm. The house has a heating system that makes it comfortable even for a winter stay. Perfect for a couple, for a family of 3/4 persons, or for two couples.

The place is absolutely fantastic and exactly what you want accommodation in the Sicilian countryside to be like. Elena, the host, is very inviting and caring. You feel very welcome. She contacted us well in advance and was very helpful if you had questions or wondered anything. We were two adults and three children and really enjoyed the accommodation. The place was clean and fresh. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything you could possibly need for cooking on holiday. Maybe some kitchen knife was a bit dull. But if you had pointed it out, I'm sure it wouldn't have been a problem for Elena to fix :) There was no oven or microwave in the apartment we lived in, but we knew that from the beginning so it was no problem. In the house there were plenty of towels in different sizes and there were fresh bed linens. There was also a washing machine on the farm that could be used if needed.I can really recommend this place.

Wir waren zu viert und fanden es toll dort. es gab genug Möglichkeiten vor dem Haus oder auf der Dachterasse zu essen, spielen oder lesen. Die Strände und Sehenswürdigkeiten sind alle gut zu erreichen. die Gastgeberin Elena ist ein Schatz. Toll!!!

Wunderschönes Haus

Wir sind begeistert von diesem schönen Hof. Das Haus ist hochwertig gemacht und sauber. Es ist alles da, was man braucht. Wir haben uns sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt und haben tolle Tipps erhalten um die Gegend kennenzulernen. Es ist tatsächlich noch schöner, als die Bilder es wiedergeben und wir empfehlen es guten Gewissens weiter. Danke für die herzliche Gastfreundschaft:)

Ein Landhaus mit einem wunderschönen Innenhof

Die Gastgeberin war unglaublich freundlich und hat uns nett willkommen geheißen. Der Innenhof strahlt eine schöne Atmosphäre aus und wir haben es genossen dort zu frühstücken oder auch abends bei Kerzenschein dort zu sitzen.

Un très bon accueil de la part d’Elena .un assortiment de produits locaux nous attendait à notre arrivée. La location est spacieuse et très fonctionnelle. La localisation est idéale pour rayonner sur le golfe de Castellamare et Palerme 20 min de l’aéroport. Elena est riche en conseils et nous a permis de profiter pleinement de la région.

Perfect

We have travelled a lot but never had a welcome as warm as the one Elena gave us. It was a great pleasure to meet Elena and her family and we enjoyed all the advices she gave us (before coming and during our stay). The apartment is perfect: spacious, clean, cool and beautiful.The apartment is situated in a very nice area close to beautiful nature, a very nice beach, towns and several attractions. Everything was perfect and we would love to come back : )

Tolle Gastgeber und ein wunderschöner Hof, das Wetter war prima und es war etwas Sommer im Herzen. Es gab wenig Touristen und so konnte man auch wirklich in Sizilien ein wenig eintauchen. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder!

Schön renovierter Gutshof, guter Ausgangspunkt um Westsizilien zu entdecken.

Der Gutshof ist zum Teil renoviert und in Apartments aufgeteilt, die um einen schönen Innenhof gruppiert sind. Das Apartment ist sehr geschmackvoll gestaltet mit Fliesenboden, Holzfenstern und -balkendecke sowie mit einigen IKEA-Möbeln. Der Gutshof liegt weitab jedes Dorfs, ein Auto ist vonnöten. Von hier aus kann man ganz Westsizilien individuell entdecken - von Palermo bis Agrigent. Elena hat uns im Vorfeld perfekt informiert und war (obwohl selbst nicht vor Ort) jederzeit erreichbar, ausgesprochen aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. Einziges Manko: wir konnten nicht bei geöffnetem Fenster schlafen, da in der Umgebung nachts mehrere Hunde oft ausdauernd bellten. Auch die nahe Autobahn hört man manchmal gut. Insgesamt ein absolut empfehlenswertes Quartier, dank Klimaanlage vermutlich auch im Hochsommer sehr angenehm.

Sehr nette Gastgeberin und eine einladende Ferienunterkunft

Der Aufenthalt auf dem alten Gutshof in Balestrade hat uns ausgesprochen gut gefallen. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und Elena hat uns sehr gut bei unseren Unternehmungen beraten.Es waren für uns wunderschöne Tage auf Sizilien und wir freuen uns auf ein Wiedersehen.

What a special place!

My boyfriend and I just returned from 8 nights in Sicily and I must say that staying at Elena’s estate was our favorite place out of all our stays! Elena could not have been more welcoming and accommodating!!! When selecting a property for the first time, there is always a fear that descriptions will not match reality. But this is one of those rare instances where reality surpassed even our highest expectations. Elena put tremendous thought into every detail. The house is furnished impeccably with love in every detail- it is very clean, pleasant, and new decorated. Outside areas including the patios and the courtyard are stunning. Thus we felt regret for leaving after 2 nights as we just wanted to stay and enjoy the house and its silent scenery. Before our arrival the owner Elena gave us a perfect description to guide us there by car and the day on arrival she welcome us sincerely. In regard of our vacation Elena gave us her number and she answered to messages promptly and was very attentive. Within moments of arriving we were entranced by the stunning views and the warmth of the welcome from Elena. She was so helpful and really knowledgeable about what we could see and do in Sicily. She had stocked the fridge with all the essentials and gave us a welcome present of cookies, a bottle of typical wine and kept us well supplied with fresh fruits and water. Furthermore Elena gave us some advices for the local village Balestrate and pointed out some restaurants. She exhibited the highest standard of hospitality. From the outset she made it known that she would make herself available as often or as limited as we desired.

Geschmackvoll, sauber, ruhig.

Es war ein großes Vergnügen, einige Tage an diesem wunderbaren Platz, an dem wir uns sofort heimisch gefühlt haben, zu verbringen - die dezente Gestaltung dieses Hauses, gelegen in einem außerhalb des Ortes situierten Gutshof, hat uns begeistert, die Küche ist komplett ausgestattet, und als kleine Draufgabe gibts noch eine uneinsehbare Sonnenterrasse auf der 2. Ebene. Elena, die Vermieterin, hilft gerne und kompetent weiter, und die Lage in der Nähe des Meeres sowie des Nationalparkes Lo Zingaro, nicht einmal eine Autostunde von Palermo entfernt, ist optimal. Vorbehaltlose Empfehlung!
