"1 The Noust is a perfect haven for a quiet retreat and to explore mainland Orkney. The cottage is extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen. The storage heaters made the cottage just comfortable, without being 'too hot.' There are some lovely walks around the village and a local shop for any groceries required. "An excellent base for exploring beautiful Orkney. The flat is attractive, comfortable and well equipped, and is in a great location for shopping, restaurants, and places of interest - and also for getting to the bus stationt if you plan to use public transport to get around (we did). "Withi-Gill was a beautiful cottage in a remarkable landscape -- views of Hoy and Graemsay were beautiful (when the weather cooperated, which was most days), and with a short walk, views of much of the western part of Mainland Orkney, including Stromness. "Superb location in the centre of Kirkwall. Perfect for the two of us. There was an allocated parking spot for this particular apartment just out side of the front door, but someone else was parked in it for our entire stay. This is just a comment, not a complaint, as there was additional free parking near by which we used instead."

Then the harbour front is seconds away Make sure you go into the Albert street car park stay left and turn into, usually a space outside the apartment can park for free. "The island and cottage were exactly what we needed. There was peace and quiet, which allowed us to slow down and breathe. The local residents we met were friendly and welcoming. The island needs a little investment but we really hope mass tourism doesn't ruin its tranquility."
