"What lovely staff, so friendly. This is the best place i have stayed in yet on my Coast to Coast walk. Breakfast was amazing, apart from the usual full english (which loses its novelty after 5 days!) chose eggs benedict which was perfectly cooked and made a lovely change. "Très bien situé à l’entrée d’Ambleside, nous avons beaucoup aimé cet établissement. Les déjeuners y sont complets et copieux et leur programme Green qui permet d’avoir une consommation par jour si on ne demande pas le service de nettoyage vaut le coup. Notre chambre était petite et au 3ème étage. Ça peut être un défi avec les bagages. Le plus gros inconvénient était de n’avoir aucun crochet dans la chambre ou même dans la salle de bain pour les serviettes. Cet aspect serait à améliorer…"

"The hotel is lovely. We arrived to find we had been upgraded from the snug to a double bedroom with a view which was lovely. But disappointed not to have a bath even after an upgrade though. There are a lot of stairs to get anywhere, which was fine but worth noting. There is access to the lake outside via a path and some stairs which is lovely. The spa was great but as they are doing some work on it the outside bit wasn't available. This was fine as we were alerted to this, but there were also...

"Very average. Overall a nice pub area. Checkin was rushed. No parking nearby and confusing as to which car parks allowed overnight parking. Carpets were filthy and didn't look like they had been hoovered in a week. Breakfast was fine. "

"Warm comfortable room in lovely hotel that is walking distance from lake. House was where Beatrix Potter took holidays & she eventually bought it for her mother. Love the whimsical touches such as carpets & wallpaper. Easy private parking included. Stairs to rooms on first & second floors but staff help with luggage if needed. Dinner & breakfast at the hotel restaurant were good."
