Gold medal-winning accommodation and popular all year round, this lake edge property is located at Okere Fall, Lake Rotoiti. A short 15 minutes from Rotorua Airport. 25 minutes into central Rotorua, and 30 minutes to Papamoa Beach,45 minutes to Tauranga. 5-minute drive to the Okere Falls cafe. Described by many as " A Modern Scandinavian" twist to the Kiwiana-themed bach, The Love Shack has a rustic blend of plywood walls, mood feature lighting, and lush soft furnishings that makes for a romantic and relaxing escape. The Love Shack has a luxurious queen-size Sleepy Head Chiropractic bed- super comfy! The sleek kitchen is fitted with a modern cooktop, microwave, and filtered H20 on tap along with a full-sized fridge/freezer for extended stays. A Weber Baby Q BBQ makes outdoor cooking a breeze. The Love Shack is 29 square metres in total inside space, plus a deck and garden area. The Shack has an Ensuite off the bedroom and not a full bathroom.
Private jetty offers the option to bring your boat and try your luck at fishing for Rainbow Trout, or just playing on the water and visiting the many bays and beaches including the famous Manupirua Hot Pools which are only accessible by boat. Visit the Okere Falls Food Store/Cafe/Beer Garden by boat or a short stroll. A great place to stock up on their extensive beer range. There are numerous activities close by including bush walks, white water rafting, golfing, and thermal attractions. Enjoy some of the best Mountain biking tracks in the world, the Redwood forest is 25 minutes from here or just kick back and enjoy kayaking on the lake. We have a selection of kayaks as well as stand up paddleboards for guests to use. Off-road parking is situated at the top by the main house with a short walk down steps and a concrete path to the Love Shack( less than 1 minute). PLEASE NOTE : A reasonable fitness level of fitness is required to walk the short distance Up & Down to the Shack. There is NO direct car access to the Shack. Let us know in advance if you would like to bring your boat or jet ski so we can give you special instructions about Launching across at the Waipuna boat ramp and it's a wee just 10 minutes cruise across to us. Remember that our inlet is strictly 5 knots.
Special conditions:
MINIMUM STAY IN THE LOVE SHACK IS 2 NIGHTS.
(Long weekends minimum three nights-ie Auckland Anniversary weekend, Waitangi, Easter, Anzac, Kings Birthday, Matariki, Labour weekend.

A compulsory $70 cleaning fee applies which covers removing guest rubbish, guest recycling, and laundry.

Guests are provided with all linen, including sheets, shower, and swimming towels, bedding, kitchen tea towels.
A well-stocked tea and coffee caddy along with some BBQ essentials(oil, salt, ​pepper, handy towels). We also provide Body wash, Shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, Hand wash, hand sanitiser, Face wipes(for makeup removal), sanitizing wipes, and BBQ wipes.

If wishing to bring a jet ski or boat, please let us know in advance of your stay so we can clear some room on our jetty and give you clear instructions on where to launch and park trailers.

Great place

Very nice place to stay for the weekend. Owner has set the bach up very nicely, it had everything we needed. Lovely view of the lake and great to hear the bellbirds singing away.

Rest & Relaxation

This property was our last stop in New Zealand before heading back to UK. We were delighted as it was as stunning as the pictures portrayed. The shack was well equipped with a very comfy bed. Being able to relax by the edge of the lake or take a kayak out on the water was a perfect place for us. Rod and Flow were lovely and welcoming and ensured we had a good stay.

What a gem

The Love Shack is a treasure, in a wonderful, peaceful spot. Our stay was one of the most relaxing holidays thanks to the lake front position, the bush walks, kayaking and the bach was charming and had more than everything we needed for the week. Flo and Rod were wonderful warm, hospitable hosts and welcomed us with snacks and wine. Expectations exceeded! Thank you.

Lovely place in beautiful surroundings

We had a wonderful stay. The place was clean, very well stocked, in a perfect location, quiet and the location by the lake is serene. Florence was excellent with communication. We'll definitely come back again if it's free next time we are up Rotorua way. Highly recommended!

Stunning property

This property is in a stunning location & absolutely everything you need is thought of. It has to be one of the best baches I have stayed in and waking up to the sounds of the birds and having coffee by the lake cannot be beaten. The Love Shack - The Little Gem In A Slice of Paradise!

WOW, the Love Shack truly lives up to its name and exceeded all our expectations! This is by far one of THE BEST places we've ever stayed. The amenities provided are above and beyond, the location is excellent and the views are absolutely amazing. Private lake access and tranquil nature. The perfect place to unwind for our anniversary. Florence is simply the perfect host, the communication was literally so so fast and so so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The Love Shack is everything and more, a little gem in a slice of paradise! Wish we could have stayed longer; definitely next time!

Just fab

Lovely lakeside retreat. Peaceful and picturesque location with modern amenities, private and surrounded by bush. This suited us perfectly as a couple. We visited the local Okere Falls Store every day for great coffee and some of the best food we've tasted. All in all a lovely time and will be back for more.

Perfect getaway spot! 3 days felt like 2 weeks (in the best way possible!) Very relaxing and cosy, gorgeous view, and close to lots of great spots in the Bay of Plenty. What more could you need? Absolutely loved it.

Lake Rotoiti retreat

Excellent lake side property, a few zigs zags down to it, but so worth it. Who knew you could pack so much into 30sqm. West facing for the best of the sun, lazing within a few feet of the water. Used the kayaks, had a ball.

This was one of those memorable holidays. My wife and I had such an awesome stay. Very comfortable unit in a very beautiful spot. Florence and Rod are fantastic hosts. Every little detail of the place was well thought of for your comfort and to make it an enjoyable stay. Right by the lake. Kayaks and other fun water equipment available for free. We will definitely stay here again.

Quiet and cosey with beautiful scenery

Rural scenery and nice and quiet was perfect for a quick getaway. The bach was surrounded by lovely scenery and of course the lake rite at the doorstep. Amazed with how well kitted the kitchen was for the size of the place which was ideal for cooking any meal, and also the BBQ too. Highly recommend staying

a one of a kind stay! highly recommend!

This by far was our favourite holiday homes we’ve had the pleasure of staying in! The Love Shack really did exceed our expectations! My partner and I enjoyed the use of the kayaks & paddle boards! It really did feel like we were on holiday! Florence and Rod were great hosts, very kind & friendly! We cannot recommend this place any more! It really is a one of a kind stay! We will definitely be back again soon! :)
