"Ideally situated for an overnight stay if walking the South Downs Way. Excellent Sunday lunch - we could understand why it was popular! The Landlord was very helpful in providing the best route to re join the South Downs Way the following morning. Unfortunately the nearby cafes were not open for breakfast on Monday - The Green Welly doesn't open and The Nutmeg doesn't open on Bank holidays! We resorted to buying two baguettes from The White Lion and having them for breakfast and lunch!"

"The room was absolutely fine, albeit not particularly well insulated from the sound of other guests. I was a little disappointed with the food. Service was fine but my meal was no than average pub fare. I'm pretty sure my burger had been frozen at some time in its' life and would have expected something with a bit more flavour and a little less chew. I would certainly stay again though."

"Lovely hotel "

"Great place to stay. We were going to a concert In Brighton and this was an ideal place to stay. Staff were helpful about local area, amenities and getting to and from Brighton. Room is simple but perfect for what we needed. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious. Plenty of choice, happy to accommodate special dietary requirements. Highly recommend. "

"I cannot recommend this place enough, we had a wonderful stay. The room and its surroundings are absolutely beautiful. It is peaceful, the staff are attentive and it was just the most relaxing stay. We can't wait to visit again."

"Amazing stay this weekend at Ashdown. We were able to play tennis, use the driving range, lunch and walk around the grounds all before checking in. Room was beautiful and clean with a great view! Dinner in the restaurant and breakfast also great and generous portions. Service fantastic! "

"Lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool was beautiful and (when I was there) very quiet. There's also a small sauna and steam room, and a tiny (but perfectly formed) gym, Excellent breakfast selection, and again staff very helpful, even with late arriving guests. "We stayed here in the Tudor 4 poster room. While some of the reviews mentioned noise in some of the suites, we only heard guests downstairs when we were in the bathroom and then only in the afternoon. It was quiet in the evening / night. It was a great place to stay after a 5,000 mile trip from the Western US and recover from jet lag before going on to meet friends and family elsewhere in the UK. (It’s about a hour from Heathrow). "Our stay at Trivelles was perfect. We had a friendly greeting, our room was comfortable and clean and we had everything we needed. In a pretty location too, with a couple of really nice pubs nearby. We would definitely stay here again."
