Get a room on the top floor! I arrived around 4pm dropped bags and headed out to meet my son. I got back around 9pm.to get an early night as was shattered. No such luck, there was banging and furniture moving from the floor above until way after 11pm. I thought it was noisy guests but discovered on Saturday it was the hotel refurbishing a room! Not ideal..and no chance of sleeping. Go to Saturday. I come back in the afternoon again to get some rest before heading out and lucky me more noise for a few hours, this time I see a cleaner who tells me 3 people are putting beds together. It's really poor that if no sound proofing you wait until the hotel is not full to carry out work. The owner did see me this morning and apologised but was insistent the work finished at 7pm on Friday!! I wasn't even in the building at 7pm. Very poor experience. Rooms are basic but clean. On check in you have to ring a bell, but no indication of this when you arrive or book so check in a little confusing. You can walk to central Newcastle from here but plenty of Uber available
