When we arrived early, they were very accommodating and we were able to get us into a lower floor room so we did not have to store our luggage in the lobby area. We lowered our AC to 72, so it would be comfortable when we returned. After an afternoon of fun in New York City, we came back and found our room had increased to 82°.
I went downstairs and explained the AC was not working properly. They confirmed that the AC has a motion sensor on it and it only works when there is motion in the room. I was explaining to them that I was concerned about our sleep and that we would not be moving in the room to allow the AC to continue to work and they replied that it would not be a problem as this is they have “never had a complaint about their AC“.
Unfortunately, the AC only works when there is several minutes of activity in the room as it has a motion sensor on it. I woke up at 1:30 in the morning with the interior of the room at 82°.
It is a terrible system that they choose to have trying to save a few pennies when we’re paying several hundred dollars a night. Clearly, they only care about their bottom line and not the quality of the stay.
