  • Enjoy the most beautiful views in slaughter beach overlooking both the Delaware Bay and Prime Hook Marsh, preached atop the tallest deck in town you can enjoy your coffee or evening cocktail with spectacular panoramic views!
    Slaughter Beach is a gem of a town that is peaceful and quiet, nature abounds with ospreys, eagles, shore birds, and a walk along the dog friendly beach is sure to provide some treasures to find. The beach almost feels exclusive, few passers by who like you are making the most of the salt air and beautiful scenery.
    Sunsets on the westward facing decks are unimpeded and spectacular. Relax on the porch swing with someone you love with plenty of room for others situated in their Adirondack chairs simply enjoying what matters most. In the evenings you can take in the stars. With very low light pollution the stars can be unreal some nights, sit in the hot tub with the people of your choice and soak it all in.
    Slaughter Beach provides the balance and peace a real vacation requires, only a short drive into the hub-bub but perfectly removed. Close by Rehoboth and Lewes beaches can be great for an evening out or a trip to the boardwalk with family. The town provides access to tennis, basketball, pavilion, boat launch, and DuPont Nature Center. Take a family bike ride down Bay Ave or a active jog with few cars passing you by.
    The home has 5 bedrooms total and 4 full bathrooms. Two King Master Bedrooms, a Queen, dual twins in bedroom four and a bunk bed in the 5th. bedroom. The loft has a twin bed and serves as a 6th bedroom and there are two queen sleeper sofas in the main living area. Ample living space with over 3800 square feet in an open concept, 4 decks and a screened in porch.
    While on vacation, still experience all the comforts of home with four 42-inch flat screen TVs with streaming services, wireless high-speed Internet service and a office area! Dine out or enjoy a night in with everything you need to cook a family meal in the full kitchen and propane grill on the deck. You're able to pack light as we have a washer and dryer available in the house for your convenience
    We also have a sun umbrella, beach chairs, sand shovels and buckets, boogie boards, and beach bikes. Bringing multiple cars? No problem. We have off Road parking for 5 to 6 cars
    The home has an elevator 31” openings with the 3rd. floor having 36” door openings and shower with grab bars (please note this is a step in shower and not roll in)
    Sheets and towels are not included in the rental.
    We are pet friendly, the beach out front is also dog friendly year round but pet’s are required to be on a leash at “all times”
    NO SMOKING in the home
    15 person capacity is adults and Children, if all adults capacity is 12

This place was incredible. The views alone make it worth renting, so beautiful. But the house is spacious and spotless, with countless little touches added to make it feel like you’re at home. We loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to come back!

This is our 3rd summer staying in this lovely house with our kids and grandkids. It is the perfect place for a family vacation. The kids once again had a great time exploring the uniqueness of Slaughter Beach with horseshoe crabs, shells, etc. We had so many fun adventures, sand shark fishing, going to Funland in Rehoboth, exploring Lewes and Cape Henlopen, riding the ferry to Cape May. Probably the best was enjoying games and meals together at the house. Katie and Ed are always available for questions and give great suggestions on what the lower Delaware area has to offer. Lots of wonderful memories!

Beautiful home Beautiful views

This house was perfect for our multi generational family. The house is lovely, modern, and clean. The kitchen is very, very well stocked, we cooked many meals easily for the 10 of us, the beds are comfortable, and the 3 porches plus the screened in one provide wonderful peaceful views complete with a breeze. We would definitely book again.

Great family vacation home!

This home is so amazing!! Just can’t say enough great things about it. The kitchen is awesome- it has everything you need for family feasts! So many different areas to nap or read a book, as well as room to work on a jigsaw puzzle, play games, or just relax in the many comfy outside areas. The private entrance to the beach was perfect for our dogs, and we spent many hours just walking the beach picking up shells. You never have to leave the property to enjoy your stay!

Great Fall October Getaway

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home with views on all sides. My sons (15 & 12) loved the hot tub and we enjoyed our walks on the beach. The house was very comfortable- we loved the decks and enjoyed the nature around us. My parents joined us too and enjoyed the time outdoors. The elevator in the home was perfect for them to get to the third floor. We enjoyed dining, outlet shopping, and the bakeries which were awesome. All in all, it was a perfect getaway with those that mean the most- family.

Heavenly vacation home

We were thrilled with our vacation. The pictures are accurate but the house is so well layed out and so beautifully appointed you will be pleasantly surprised. Beach access is 50 feet from the front door and it is a peaceful beautiful place with views in the distance of Cape May and the Ships. This was beyond our usual price range but we all agreed it was worth every penny and the layout etc enhanced the ability of Mimi and families of 2 adult children to enjoy it thoroughly! Btw Rehoboth etc is about 40 min away for those who want boardwalk and vibrancy vibes. Can not recommend more highly.

Vacation and Connection

This is our second stay in this beautiful home with such gracious hosts. It is such a fabulous place to have everyone in our family gather. Our grandkids (we have 6) ages 1-10 had such fun together. Since they only get to see one another a couple times of year the older ones were excited to come back remembering all the fun times they had last year. We explored the special things unique to Slaughter Beach, wandering out at low tide, flipping horseshoe crabs, etc. We also had fun with the excitement of various attractions in Rehoboth Beach and Cape Henlopen. Katie and Ed's home is perfect for playing games together, cooking and enjoying meals together and just a breathtaking view of the Delaware Bay. Thank you for another wonderful year at the beach to relax and connect!

The Laughing Gull

This is an excellent vacation property! The owners responded quickly to any questions we had. Having access to the house through the garage to the elevator of this four story home made unloading suitcases, beach gear and groceries a breeze. The multiple decks offered quiet spots to relax. My favorite was the view over the Marvel Salt Marsh each evening to watch the sunset. When we wanted to get out, Milford, Lewes and busy Rehobeth were available. The house is super equipped from the kitchen to the beach equipment. We unloaded but didn’t use many things we brought because they were already at the house. The neighbors at Slaughter Beach were friendly and helpful. Our whole family (ages 7 to 83) enjoyed this property.

Together again

It had been a long time since our entire family has been able to spend extended time together due to Covid and health issues. We were familiar with the peacefulness of Slaughter Beach since I had family who lived in lower Delaware. We spent a lot of summers in the past at the beach and it was so great to be back and share the setting with our grandkids. The house was amazing, accommodating all 12 of us very comfortably along with our 2 dogs. Ed and Katie were easy to get a hold of, always able to answer any questions we had. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The kids are all already talking about wanting to do it again next year.

Beautiful home and property just steps away from the beach

This house and property are absolutely beautiful. The owner, Katie, was very responsive to all of our needs. She even went back and forth with us and VRBO to get a payment plan set up for our trip. The house was extremely clean, and we were able to check in early. It is only a short drive to Lewes and Rehobeth, which we made a few nights to go to dinner. It was a perfect home for mine and my husband’s family vacation! A few days our internet was in and out but by resetting the router it was back to normal. We also had some issues with the hot tub but Katie was very responsive when I reached out to help us get it situated. Overall a beautiful vacation and I would 100% recommend to anyone else!

Perfect house!

We can’t say enough about this property! The jacuzzi on the top balcony w/ fire pit is amazing. The sunrises and sunsets were superb. The host is very available but not a helicopter host. The pantry is loaded with anything and everything you need for cooking. The bikes were fun. We took many bike rides. The elevator works perfect, and is very helpful to get groceries up. There is not a negative thing I can think of about this property. Worth every penny❤️….. also the construction of this home is solid. It is A #1 … I would definitely say if any family is looking for a true getaway rent at The Laughing Gull. Hope to be back

Family get away to Delaware

We chose Delaware for our family trip this year, our 5 adult children and their spouses all went! The house was perfect! There was plenty of bedrooms, several which had desks, which was great for our remote workers. The Kitchen was amazing. We are a family of cooks, so every night was another awesome meal. The kitchen is fully equipped, with everything you could possibly need, no matter what you are making. The island is the largest I have ever seen, which was great for our make your own pizza night with plenty of room for each couple to have a spot to work in. The kitchen table was also quite large, and accommodated our family of 11 for meals and games. The beach is a horse shoe crab sanctuary, so be prepared for them being strewn across the beach. ( both dead and alive), so we did not use this beach. We drove to the beaches about 40 minutes, which worked out well. There is a lot to do in the vicinity, and we had a great week. The hot tub was popular. The house was great, made for a memorable vacation.

Vacation Slaughter Beach July 2023

Our family enjoyed our stay at the Laughing Gull. The house was very clean, the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfy. The kitchen was fully equipped with all cooking items needed. It even had a fully stocked spice rack and items in the pantry. The elevator was very convenient to have when moving things in and out from all floors. We also appreciated that they supplied beach chairs, beach bikes, corn hole, games, puzzles and toys for the kids. We brought our pets, so having dog treats at the front door was a nice for them. What we really enjoyed were the views from both sides of the house. The front side has a swing and the back side, a hammock, which was very relaxing. On the third floor, we all enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. Although the beach was not what we were used to, due to it being a horseshoe crab sanctuary, there were other beaches that were within a 30 minute drive that we went to, to give us the beach experience. Our favorite was Broadkill Beach, which was only a 15-20 min drive from the house and had more tame crowds than Lewes and Rohoboth. Thank you Katie and Ed for assisting us and being so responsive when we had questions.

Amazing property. We had six adults, and seven children from ages 7-18. The home is wonderful. Huge table in the kitchen/living/dining room around which we ate and played games. I sipped coffee there every morning watching the sun rise. The master bedroom on the first floor has a wall window facing the Delaware bay. Watched the moon/sun rise there as the ships slowly proceeded by. One night thunderheads put on a lightning display there. It's an amazing room, with an oh-so-comfortable large bed. The claw deep deep bathtub, and the huge walk-in shower with the ceiling shower spray were both unbelievable.My wife and I were accustomed to staying in the Outer Banks region of N.C. This property in Delaware was about a 4 hour shorter drive for us, but it was a dart at the map trip. None of us had been to Delaware before. The area is rural, but centrally located. Various day trips were made to Washington D.C., Baltimore, and one family took the ferry to Cape May. My wife and I went twice to the Assateague Island National Seashore to see the wild horses.One very important feature, my wife has bad knees, so stairs or a long walk of soft sand or dunes to the beach are difficult for her. The elevator in the house was wonderful for her. The path to the beach was not very inclined, and for the most part hard packed sand. That worked out great!This is an amazing property. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. I could go on, but at the limit of the space allowed.

Wonderful home for a quiet family vacation

The Laughing Gull exceeded all expectations for a relaxing family getaway. The home is beautiful, well-maintained and by far the cleanest summer rental we have experienced. Communication from the owner, Katie, was timely and it was a delight to work with her. Being right on the beach was a great convenience. We brought our dog and it was a great week for him, too, with dog biscuits by the door and the dog-friendly beach. Please do not expect a pristine, groomed beach as Slaughter Beach is a natural beach and horseshoe crab sanctuary. It's also a bit rocky, but even in the middle of August we had the beach to ourselves nearly every day which was wonderful. The home is quite luxurious with a huge gourmet kitchen and high end materials throughout. Our group of 10 had plenty of room. The only potential negatives I can think of are the remote location (nearly 20 minutes to dining/shopping with few delivery options) and the lack of window treatments in the bathrooms. It was uncomfortable for several in our family to shower or use the restroom without blinds or curtains on windows facing the home next door. Overall, a great week and we would not hesitate to rent again. Thank you, Katie, for the opportunity to enjoy your beautiful home.
