Hedgegate of Newport is a classic, historic summer home that provides a perfect venue where family and friends enjoy old-fashion relaxation and tranquility. This amazing Dutch Colonial home has been in our family for over 90 years. Purchased by our grandfather in 1930 as a summer family retreat, multiple generations of our family have entertained friends with sumptuous barbecues, delicious Italian dishes and fine wines.

Sachuest National Park (hiking trails & nature center)& Norman Bird Sanctuary (hiking trails, nature center) only 3 minute drive.

Beautiful property in a great location! We all got our own comfortable bed and there was room for everyone at the dinner table and/or watching TV and relaxing. Our group of friends travel every year someplace new and this was one for the books! From the restaurants, spa, mansion tours to the winery and cliff walk - everything was amazing!!!

Wonderful stay

Wonderful home and spacious outdoor space. There were 10 of us with 4 being small children The outdoor space was fantastic for the children to play and the location is fabulous and close to the beach and restaurants and Clementines ice cream is right across the street which was a big hit! The home is well stocked with more than enough towels and blankets. Big dining room and table which was perfect for our big group. We had a great stay and hope to stay again

Family vacation

House was perfect for our large family 8 adults and three children. Great location and the house was well appointed. Lots of dishes and basics and well provisioned with everything you need in a kitchen (not food) just pots and pans and kitchen workings. Lots of everything we never ran out of glasses.

Ideal Location and Beautiful Home

The home is an absolute delight and was perfect for our family that wanted six (no bunk bed) bedrooms and a location close to Newport, the beach and dining options. The backyard seating area with gorgeous grass, flowers and flowering shrubs was a treat, as was the wraparound porch and large kitchen and living area. The owner was very responsive to a situation we had with a shower and shared really interesting background on the home. I highly recommend this property.

Weekend of sailing in Newport

My wife and I and some friends age 30-60 stayed at Hedgegate for a weekend of sailing at the New York YC Newport facility - the house was wonderful - just what we needed - plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, kitchen very workable (we cooked 2 of 3 nights) new grill was great - location super convenient and welcoming , helpful host. We will look to come back next year

Perfect place to host the groomsman pre-wedding. Absolutely beautiful home with ample space to host our large wedding party. We had access to food/coffee in walking distance, and close drive to wedding venue @ Ocean Cliff. Host was a pleasure to work with - made everything super easy! Would highly recommend!

Wonderful Newport home

We had a mixed-age family group for a weekend wedding. Plenty of spaces to hang out en masse or as separate groups. Patio, deck and garden looked lovely - although we had rain every day. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Amazing stay in Middletown!

We stayed at James' beautiful home for a college friends reunion and had the most incredible weekend. The house is STUNNING and perfect for a large group with no shortage of beds. The back yard was the selling point for our group and it didn't disappoint- made for such a great weekend gathering around the table with old friends. The owners are incredibly communicative and helpful, and we even got to meet the extended family staying at the other house on the property! Would definitely recommend and would love to stay here again!

Our group of 14 had a wonderful stay. There was plenty of space inside the house and we were pleasantly surprised with the outdoor space as well. We were worried that Ubers in and out of Newport from the house would be difficult for such a large group but we had no issue. We’d definitely stay here again!

Excellent location, Excellent Home

This house had everything we needed for a weekend away to celebrate a family wedding. Jim and Gail were helpful and responsive to anything we needed, and super friendly. The house had a well stocked kitchen, the rooms were cozy, and there were plenty of bathrooms for all of us to get ready. We were able to walk to everything we needed, and downtown Newport was just a short Uber ride away. We would recommend this home to anyone, and we would happily stay here again in the future.
