Bungalows on the beach

Pequeño hotel en una playa paradisíaca,los bungalows amplios equipados con lo necesario las camas grandes con mosquiteras que dejan mucho espacio, el baño grande, sencillo, sin tonterías. El restaurante central con luz agradable, mucha madera, todo abierto con vista al mar y a la playa. El hotel y los bungalows se encuentran unos 10 metros encima de la playa, así que siempre hay un corriente de aire muy agradable. La cocina muy buena,hay pocas posibilidades de comer fuera. Te y coca gratis en el bar de la playa, piscina pequeña pero muy limpia. El personal muy atento,cuando se había mojado un móvil en la piscina,se han volcado para seccarlo De vez en cuanto hay cortes de luz y internet.

Buen sitio para un retiro y disfrutar de los sentidos pero no es un lugar para divertirse con entretenimiento ruidoso. Buen trato del personal , estuve solo una noche y se me hizo poco. Venía de un safari y es perfecto para terminar el viaje. El coche lo veo imprescindible para tener autonomía.

Grands bungalows style « rustique « assez réussi,au bord d’une jolie plage.Personnel sympathique et souriant. Petit déjeuner correct sans plus. Repas du soir variés. Seul inconvénient: l’amplitude des marées rend les heures baignables assez réduites.Ideal donc pour un repos total sur la plage. Quelques balades possibles

Die Kichanga Lodge ist eine schöne Anlage am östlichen Teil der Insel. Sie ist groß, besitzt einen eigenen Sandstrand und man kann sich dort gut entspannen. Leider sind jedoch die Preise sehr hoch und teils unverschämt, man merkt, dass man als Tourist ausgenommen wird: - Bier: 5 USD - Wein (Glas): 6 USD, (Flasche): 24 USD Das Abendessen als Buffet wurde uns zuerst mit 20 USD pro Person berechnet, wobei es „angeblich“ 25 USD kostet, nachdem wir nachgefragt hatten waren es jedoch nur 15 USD p.P. Eine Taxifahrt an einen 4km gelegenen Ort, um den Sonnenuntergang zu sehen wurde zuerst mit 30 USD berechnet. Auch werden verschiedene Ausflüge zu erhöhten Preisen angeboten, bei denen der Guide eher lustlos was erzählt und am Ende auffordert doch bitte Trinkgeld für die tolle Performance zu geben. Zahlungen mit Karte werden pauschal mit +5% berechnet. Einen Kiosk um etwas zu kaufen gibt es ebenfalls nicht in unmittelbarer Nähe, man ist aufs Hotel angewiesen. Insgesamt eine schöne Anlage, jedoch sollte man sich bewusst sein, dass nochmal einiges an Geld auf einen zukommt und man keine wesentliche Möglichkeit hat sich woanders als in der Lodge aufzuhalten.

Fem nätter i december

Fin och lugn strand, inga försäljare. Maten otroligt god och vällagad. Bodde i en oceanview bungalow vilket var värt det extra priset. Bungalowen hade en härlig altan med hängmatta. Enda nackdelen var värmen på natten, fanns enbart en takfläkt som inte hjälpte så mycket . Hakuna matata genomsyrade dessa fem dagar, vilket var precis vad vi ville ha.

Die Anlage selbst ist sehr schön und groß. Auch die Hütten sind wirklich sehr geräumig und wunderschön. Was uns weniger gut gefallen hat, ist die Lage, da man sehr abgeschieden ist. Wenn man nach einem Transport in die Umgebung fragt, werden einem immense Preise genannt. Im Allgemeinen ist alles sehr überteuert. Man möchte sehr perfekt sein und einem 4 Sterne Hotel würdig sein. Es wirkt daher alles sehr steif und streng und es fehlt mir einfach die Authentizität. Was normalerweise ein Grund für Zanzibar ist, die Offenheit und Fröhlichkeit der Leute. Daher nur 3 von 5 Sternen!

Nobody's perfect, but they are close

This lodge sits in a beautiful area near a white sand private beach but still feels a little off the beaten path. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful without being fake and it's very easy to organize any activity you want to do across Zanzibar through the front desk. Every driver and guide we had was of very high quality. Everyone was especially nice to our sons and it felt very family-friendly. Our sons learned to play Bao with the locals and we appreciated the staff taking time to show them how to play. We definitely would love to come back.

Great place!

We loved our four night stay here. Service was great. Rooms were comfortable and food was food too. The beach was by far the nicest on that coast and we loved being able to use the reef shoes to explore the ocean.

A paradise in Zanzibar

Beaitiful hotel.with friendly staff. Hotelis located at center of the island, 30 minutes from famous restaurant "The Rock", 1.5 hours from turtle swimming, 1.5 hours from swimming with dolphins and 2 hours from stone town.

Quiet and serene Lodge

Very nice lodge, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, it's a great place if you want something quiet and out of the way. Incredible views and the water is really warm. Word of warning to get out to the lodge book a shuttle through the web site rather than taking a taxi. The cost for the taxi will be more than the entire trip itself, as the lodge is an hour and a half away.The lodge itself is very family-friendly and feels native to Zanzibar, this is the perfect place to relax.

Lovely little paradise

This place was the perfect place for me to relax and enjoy a beach paradise after a hectic (and wonderful) safari. What a wonderful little gem this is! This is a small lodge with a staff that is very friendly and nice. The beach is private with cute rustic lounges on the beach so you can choose to have sun or shade. A great place to walk the beach. The reception area is large with comfy chairs and couches with a nice rustic bar and lovely dining area. The food was diverse and very good. I especially enjoyed the special Swahili night dinner. I chose the beach front bungalow and loved laying in the swing on my porch to read and relax, watch the sunrise and sunset. The room was clean with a comfy bed. This reminded me of beach cottages I have stayed many years ago, which are hard to find these days. There is no TV, no air conditioning , but there was always a nice breeze and the fan kept me comfortable. The little beach bar is just funky and friendly and will make you smile. This is not a fancy resort that caters to those who want a modern western stay or that would freak at a few ants or a lizard. But for me it was perfect in every way. There will be someone at reception to greet you when you come and immediately I felt at home. The very sweet dogs and cats make it even more homey(they kept to themselves like the perfect pets). The arranged transportation to the Rock for me which was a great even thought it is close enough to walk. I also appreciated having good WiFi

Dejligt mindre resort beliggende på østkysten

Dejligt mindre resort beliggende på Zanzibars østkyst.Dette resort havde plads til ca. 50 gæster og var præget af en meget personlig og rigtig god service. Beliggenheden var rigtig god, lige ned til en palmestrand, og vi, der havde et "Bay view" hus havde en dejlig vandudsigt fra vores store balkon. Maden var glimrende og meget inspireret af lokale retter. Stedet var "rustikt, og møbler med mere var produceret ud fra lokale materialer, hvilket vi fandt meget charmerende. Huset var opdelt i 2 soverum, et stort badeværelse og et meget stor terrasse. Det var således meget velegnet til en familie med op til 4 personer. Det er et meget roligt og afslappende sted, og der er ikke meget at lave udenfor området medmindre man melder sig på en tur.

5 Star Service, 2.5 Star Hotel

First of all, I LOVE this hotel. The service is some of the best I've had anywhere, however, the facilities are not as advertised. My colleague and I tacked on a couple nights to our month long business trip to enjoy Zanzibar. We wanted a bit of luxury and a nice beach to be pampered and relaxed. The 4 star rating, the fact it had a gym and in suite laundry were very appealing. A room with two beds was mandatory and this property complied, according to the Hotels.com listing. My problem is not with the property itself, but that the Hotels.com listing is totally false. This is NOT a star property. it is a 2.5 star property. Here is a list of what is not true in the Hotels.com listing: Fitness Facilities: The "gym" is a hut with two kayaks and water shoe rentals. The Hotels.com listing says there are washers and dryers in the room, there are not. It says "premium bedding". It's a foam mattress. It says sofa bed. There are no sofa beds. There is no nightclub. There is no airport shuttle - you have to pay for the taxi they arrange. There is no indoor pool There is no indoor or outdoor tennis courts - there a covered ping pong table and volleyball nets on the beach. Additionally, 4 star hotels have air conditioning and glass in the windows. The bungalows have screens over lattice for windows (no glass), The Double Tree down the street is a 4 star hotel. The Breezes down the street is a 5 star hotel. This is nowhere close to those.

Kichanga Lodge-End September Vacation

The stay was awesome, albeit that there were a few issues we were not expecting, for example the Hotels.com website say that Kichanga has HD TV's in rooms and premium satellite channels, which was not the case. There is a communal lounge, with hardly any channels to talk of. the website also indicated a Night club, which there was not. Anyway, wifi worked pretty well, so if you have netflix and a laptop, your'e good! The rooms also did not have aircon, however the fans and the open plan nature of the room did make it bearable, not sure I'd feel the same in an equatorial December, but was fine for end of September. The half board breakfast and Dinner, was also not to bad, however leans toward the fishy side, which is par for the course down here. all in all the food was pretty good and there is a menu with more popular westernized food, if you want to order from the kitchen directly. With regards to service, it was impeccable! With regards to location, also impeccable, all in all it was a top trip, especially if you want to relax. It is also close enough to other lodges which allow day access, if you need a change in scenery. The prices were also very reasonable, with the average cocktail costing you around 7$, which was well worth it, especially..... and I recommend having the Dawa, which is made with a local Gin....absolutely fabulous. I would definitely go back there!

Genuinely great hotel

Overall very good hotel. Genuinely nice staff and great breakfast/lunch/dinner. Excellent private (in priciple) beach, great secluded location. After spending 7 days at Kichanga lodge, we are totally relaxed. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday, this is the place.

Пожалуй это лучшее место на Занзибаре, где можно остановиться. Понравился пляж, в сравнении с распиаренным Нунгви. Индивидуальный подход к клиентам ..., многое. Замечательное соотношение цена-качество. Особо заметно на фоне моего ужасного пребывания в дорогущем отеле Hideaway.
