Overall, my experience was wonderful at The Watermark. The room was spectacular and the price was very reasonable. The only reason this hotel isn’t a 5/5 is fault of one interaction with a man working for front desk during one short interaction. Myself and others were staying for a wedding reception and taking some photos in the lobby of the hotel. The man behind the desk, Sept 1 at around 3-4pm, came up to us and aggressively said “you’ve had enough time, you guys have to leave now!” When he said that, we were a little taken it back and speechless. He followed it up by clapping his hands twice and saying “chop, chop! Let’s go! Now! The bar is opening in a few minutes”
Mind you, there was absolutely no one around waiting to go to the bar, and if there was, we would have absolutely moved out of their way. We are all late 30’s to early 40’s, not children.
As taken off guard as we were, we decided it was time to move along. I politely asked him for cups for champagne, and he continually questioned me about whether or not I had a room at the hotel.. (we had several suites) Finally, following his interrogation, he obliged and said they would be sent to the room. Sure enough, they eventually showed up, not because of his hospitality, but because he was in a corner.
To have the staff, let alone the first impression of a great hotel, treat myself and other guests with such disrespect, was something I’ve never experienced.
Great hotel but someone needs to leave. Chop-chop.
