Kowhai Kabins has an easy-going, coastal vibe — the perfect spot for families or groups to unwind together. Set on a generous section with four cabins, there’s plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy a true Kiwi-style holiday.
Cabin One features a queen bed, sofa, dining table, ensuite bathroom, kitchenette, and a ranch slider that opens to let in the summer breeze.
Cabin Two has a double bed plus a double-down, single-up bunk, and a TV that only plays DVDs — ideal for movie nights. French doors open to invite in the cool air.
Cabin Three offers a double bed and bunks, while Cabin Four has a double bed and a king single, also with a ranch slider for easy indoor-outdoor flow.
The utility building is well-equipped with a kitchen featuring a bench oven and, deep fryer. There are three fridge freezers on the property — plenty of space for all your holiday treats! Off the back of the utility, you’ll find the shower and toilet facilities, plus a handy wooden box housing a deep freeze and washing machine.
Two solar showers make rinsing off after a day at the beach a breeze. There’s also car and boat parking, and a filleting bench for cleaning up your fresh catch after exploring the Coromandel’s top fishing spots. The open grassy area is great for a game of cricket, backyard fun, or just lazing in the sun. There is no Wifi, but who needs that when you have the whole Coromandel to explore?
Please note: no tents are allowed, as the cabins comfortably sleep up to 10 guests.

Every Saturday, check out the village market near the Four Square for fresh local produce and friendly chats with the locals. If you’re visiting in April, don’t miss A Taste of Matarangi — a popular food, wine, and music festival celebrating the best of the region.
Just a short drive away is Whangapoua Beach, the gateway to world-renowned New Chums Beach — an untouched slice of paradise accessible only by foot or boat at low tide.
There are also free public tennis courts available, and the boat ramp makes it easy to launch your vessel for a day out at Great Mercury Island, where you can swim, dive, or hunt for a crayfish dinner.
