Inside, guests will find a cozy and comfortable Queen Murphy Bed, as well as a bar with a concrete countertop and a small convection oven/microwave combo, perfect for preparing quick meals or snacks. A mini refrigerator is also included, providing a convenient way to store drinks and keep them chilled.

Just before Christmas I decided to visit family and friends in Shelbyville. Having grown up there I’m particularly sentimental about the downtown area and love the revitalization it’s seen. I didn’t want a hotel and didn’t want to burden friends since I was traveling with my miniature (but chonky) poodle, Jazz.This was exactly what I was looking for – a comfortable, modern studio that was close to everything including The Bell House (great food and drinks) and The Paddock (great coffee and breakfast) which is a 60-second walk door-to-door via the ally stairs.The space is in the basement of what was my dentist’s office when I was a kid. I’m unsure what it used to be, but they’ve done a fantastic job of transforming it. The space has a distinctly industrial/masculine feel because of the original joists, heavy metal doors, exposed brick columns, concrete walls, the visible updated electrical/plumbing and the original chicken wire industrial privacy windows which are wonderfully aged. The rich, warm tones of the furnishings compliment the vibe.While I had a couple of friends over for drinks, you could easily have an event with 10-15 people and it wouldn’t feel cramped. The bar area has a few visual references to the racing/bourbon culture of Kentucky but it’s done in a subtle, tasteful way (I didn’t feel like I walked into a Cracker Barrel).In sum the place was perfect for my pre-holiday getaway and I full intend for this to be my spot to stay when I visit moving forward.

The VRBO was perfect. Has the elegant modern feel just like the pictures show and has lots of space to hang out and relax. Loved the location and how walkable it was to coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. Loved staying here and highly recommend!

Located in the heart of Shelbyville. It’s within walking distance of downtown and the host gave plenty of information about local spots to visit. The space was industrial meets mid century modern. It was cool, perfectly peaceful and I loved the open concept. I will definitely book again!

Cool vibe

The location was good for our needs - near a little coffee shop - had everything we needed. Bring earplugs though. Trains go by in the middle of the night - you can also hear anyone who may be upstairs- Perfect spot for 2 people .

Loved the space!

Check in was super easy and there was great communication with the host. There were frequent trains nearby and I wish there was an outlet in the bathroom but these were only minor inconveniences and I would stay here again. Very stylish accommodations and loved being close to restaurants and downtown! Also a great central location for visiting a lot of distilleries

Great stay!

My husband and I went on a trip to Bourbon Country, and this location was perfect for our travels. Shelbyville was cute, and we enjoyed two local restaurants within walking distance, plus a coffee shop up the steps! Upon arrival, everything was neatly in its place and very clean- even the bedding and linens smelled clean, which I appreciate!!! The owner checked in with us to make sure all was well, but it was so easy and seamless that we didn’t need to bother for anything. Thanks for a great time! Fair warning…you will hear trains and traffic. It didn’t bother us, however.

Perfect Little Getaway

Beautiful industrial vibe. Great place for photos. Lots of unique shopping within walking distance. They thought of everything you could need. We loved playing all the games provided. Tv setup to watch Netflix, etc. was a great perk. Will definitely stay again.

Stay at the underground

We enjoyed our short trip to Shelbyville. This unit is walking distance to numerous shops and restaurants. It is a unique unit and the owners were very helpful. The Bell House, the gelato shop, the Paddock and La Cocina we’re all wonderful.

Cool space for a quick getaway

We had a lovely time in this lovely, well-appointed space. Gerald was quick to respond to questions. We were able to walk to local restaurants that were recommended by the hosts and they were delicious. We would definitely stay here again!

Cozy Industrial Vibe

This place was great! Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Short 30 min drive to Louisville or Lexington. Was nice to sit back and relax watching TV on the two large flat screens at the bar or living area. We will be back to see what we missed in Shelbyville.

FANTASTIC!

The, "Underground," is a fantastic stay all around! The decor is put together spot on! Smart TVs mounted perfectly. Clean, open, easy. Owners messaged back quickly while setting up reservations. Outdoor patio with tables, chairs, and grill all under lights. WOW. Great stay!

Bourbon Trail

We stayed here while visiting a few of the distilleries on the bourbon trail. It’s centrally located, 30 minutes to Louisville and 30 minutes to Frankfort. We had our two dogs with us as well. There is plenty of space out back for them to run. Just FYI there is no stove. We had planned on cooking the first night and missed the “No stove” section on the listing. No big deal. I would stay here again if we were back in the area.

Great Stay!

We always look forward to opening the door on a property that we have rented and this one was a WOW! Great location, clean, comfortable and unique. Located right between Lexington and Louisville and on the back side of a building right on main street with restaurants, cute shops and coffee in walking distance. Great place to stay and experience the Bourbon Trail. Will definitely stay here again!
