Pigeonnier - Traditional Farmhouse near La Rochelle. beaches 20 mins and a pool.

The Pigeonnier has a large double bed and a small mezzanine area that can sleep 2 kids (aged 4 to 11 yrs). The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, washing machine, gas cooker, microwave, iron and board. This gite is ideal for couples or small families only. We are situated in the Charente Maritime on the west coast of France. Nearby are the historic towns of La Rochelle and Rochefort & Surgeres. This area is rich in History with many forts, Romanesque churches, castles and Chateaux. Sandy beaches just 20 mins.
The 17th century Farmhouse, Pigeonnier & Pressoir have recently been renovated to a very high standard. Each gite is fully equipped with everything you would need for a fantastic holiday. We are surrounded by rolling countryside with fields of sunflowers & wheat, close to a pretty Charentaise village with local shop, bar, post office and a local restaurant specializing in local cuisine. Nearby there’s fishing, cycling, pony riding and lovely country walks.
WIFI is available in each of the properties.
Outside there's a seating area for each of the gites, bbq, large garden, children's play area and free use of cycles. There is a large 11x5 meter swimming pool secured by stone walls and a locked gate for safety reasons.
There is one off road parking space per gite in the courtyard of the farm.


There's a the bar/restaurant/shop in Landrais, village post office, Artist studio and a Garage (it's not possible to buy Petrol).

Antique Markets (brocantes) & Car boots (vide greniers) usually most weekends from April through to October.

Pony riding: Pony Riding at Toucherit (10min
La Rochelle has some of the best fish restaurants dotted around the old port and all along the coast. You'll find several museums, Aquarium, Boutique shops, beautiful old stone architecture & boats rides etc.
All along the coasts there are long sandy beaches some of the best are Chatelaillon, Fouras, Ile d'Oleron & ild de Ré.

Excellent pool, charming small group of gites, lovely walk to nearby village but few facilities there (although bread available from dispenser next to Mairie). Good boulangerie at le Thou a short drive away. We enjoyed exploring La Rochelle and going to the nearest beaches. Owners live on-site and were very helpful.

Chambre agréable

Suzanne a été très arrangeante et disponible concernant notre arrivée. Malheureusement nous n’avons pas pu profiter des lieux car seulement de passage dans la région. La chambre était très propre. Moins pratique avec un bébé d’un an car tout le monde était dans la même pièce. Mais cela était précisé dans l’annonce ! Merci à vous pour votre accueil !

Séjour en famille avec un bébé

Le cadre est magnifique, très calme. La piscine est très agréable. Nous avons logé dans le Pigeonnier. Les lieux sont propres, bien entretenus et équipés comme il faut. Etant avec un bébé de 1 an, le fait qu'il n'y ait pas de chambre a été légèrement problématique. Il s'agit plutôt d'un studio ouvert. Il n'y a donc pas de chambre séparée mais une petite mezzanine, contrairement à ce que nous avions compris dans l'annonce. A part ce petit point, nous avons passé de très bonnes vacances.

Had a lovely stay, Nigel and Suzanne were very welcoming and friendly. Very well equipped, nice and cool inside. Very good swimming pool and lots of chairs to sit around it. Very quiet.

Lovely residence in the countryside

We have spent a week here with our 2 children (6 and 8). The room has been furnished and decorated with a lot of attention to detail. The hosts were very kind and welcoming. Overall a very pleasant stay in a beautiful countryside estate.

Perfect charm and great host!

Second time staying here and I love it. Luckily I had time to spend with Nigel and Suzy this time and truly enjoyed our evening together. I have been coming to Charente-Maritime since the 80’s and love the laid back genuine character of the region and people. This area has grown to be a second home to me and my friends there my second family.

Wunderschön

Das Anwesen liegt außerhalb des kleinen Örtchens Landrais, nicht weit entfernt von La Rochelle und diversen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Die alte Meierei ist zu drei schönen Ferienwohnungen/-häusern umgebaut und liebevoll hergerichtet. Die Vermieter wohnen mit auf dem Anwesen und stehen mit Rat und Tat zur Seite, sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Wir waren bestimmt nicht das letzte mal hier. Ausgezeichnet.

Excellent base to explore this area

Oct/Nov 2018 - 10 days Property is in a quiet isolated position and is the perfect base to explore the surrounding area. Small but very cosy it has lots of rustic charm and is ideal for 2 persons. Only downside was the intermittent internet connection, if this is no worry to you then I would recommend this property as a welcoming and relaxing place to stay.

Wir haben ein sehr liebevoll eingerichtet, kleines,gemütliches Haus vorgefunden. Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Vermieter.In der Küche alles vorhanden was man braucht. Leicht verwirrt hat uns die Angabe der Bilder in der Anzeige. Es gehören nicht alle Fotos zu diesem Objekt, also genauer hinsehen als wir. Das Objekt hat keine Heizung, daher im Herbst alles leicht klamm, man hätte allerdings den Ofen anheizen können.
