Lamplugh: NW view by St Michael's Church, 1986. It was a fine clear day for once and on the horizon Criffell (1,866 ft.) is just visible on the Scottish side of the Solway. This was once my land, as Lord of the Manor of Lamplugh and in the weeds of the churchyard on the right are my father's ashes in a family grave. The Daffodil Hotel is a really decent hotel, we came for our little honeymoon. Room was very clean, reception staff very welcoming and the beds are comfortable. Lovely cottage, idea base for walking in the Lakes. We stayed in February, with snow on the ground. The view of Blencathra is stunning and the heating in the cottage made us feel very cosy.
