A unique and spacious custom-built home, added in 1994 to the original 1800's home overlooking the Jay Range in charming Upper Jay, NY. The original home was built by one of the town's oldest families and a local business man, Mr. Silas Prime, in the mid 1800's, with the garage/home addition added in 1994. My wife and I live on the property in the older original home which is completely separate from the rental home.

This stately home is located 4 miles from Whiteface Mountain and 20 min from main street in Lake Placid. Surrounded by 100 foot white pines with rock garden landscaping and a children's playhouse, in addition to a large grassy area for a game of football or volleyball, it has a large blacktop basketball court that can be lit for nighttime games. The home offers comfortable sleeping arrangements for 6 adults. A unique feature of the home is that it is handicap ready with a fully functioning elevator in the garage taking you up to the 2500 square foot level of the home. Bathrooms are equipped with extra large pocket doorways and handicap railings. Some of the unique features include a large stocked galley kitchen with front load washer/dryer, granite counter-tops, skylights and a large hand cut granite fireplace with accompanying cathedral ceilings as part of the living room. The master suite has a large walk in closet and a private porch overlooking the flower garden. Master bath has a Jacuzzi tub with separate shower. Second private bedroom suite has large walk-in shower for easy access of wheelchair.

Home includes three flat screen tv's, and all have basic cable. Microwave and built in desk adjacent to the kitchen. Water filtration system. Walk in pantry will provide ample space. A quiet hammock area and a large eat in screened back porch.Ceiling fans provided in all rooms of the home including the porch. Air conditioners are available in the bedrooms during the summer months. Sleeper sofa with a memory foam mattress. All linens provided. Gas grill is available. Outdoor fire pit with chairs. Internet/wireless internet available. Handyman service is available 24 hours a day for problems that may arise during your stay. Please, no smoking.

Living in the Upper Jay area provides many local activities, including outlet shopping in historic Lake Placid, area hiking during all 4 seasons, rock climbing, fishing in world class trout streams, skiing/snowboarding, mountain biking trails and many other seasonal yearly events held at Whiteface Mountain. Also available is the opportunity for snowmobiling, ice climbing and the Olympic venues of bob sledding, ski jumping, luge, speed and figure skating and snow shoeing! Come relive the magic of the 1980 winter Olympics!

Let me start with saying Perfect on every aspect! We arrived as guests and left as friends.Definitely will stay there every time we are there.Thanks to Rex and Cay for being the best hosts, beautiful house that is kept so well, has everything that you need in the house and the kitchen. Quick Ski Trip

A beautiful property close to Whiteface Mountain and Lake Placid. Very spacious, has everything you can possibly need, the owners were absolutely wonderful to work with. We felt like we were staying at a very upscale property for a price lower than most hotels. In fact, it's about half as much the cost with the comfort of feeling like home!

Exceeded our expectations by a mile

The pictures truly don't do it justice, this property is beautiful! Between Santa's workshop, all the lake placid activities, and the house, the house was my kids' favorite part of the whole trip. It was clean, well stocked, and Rex and Cay were communicative and helpful with every step along the way. We loved ending our day with a fire in the wood burning fireplace and the kitchen is the perfect place to cook dinner and socialize. My kids loved the availability of games and space to run. They were also a big fan of the tub! 10 out of 10, would love to come back!!

Thanksgiving holiday

We booked the rental for Thanksgiving week. Everything was absolutely perfect. The entire rental is top of the line and has everything you need to be comfortable. The beds were especially comfortable! The giant fireplace in the living room was where we spent every single night listening to Christmas music and having wine. We had a wonderful day and would absolutely recommend this to any of our friends visiting the area! You won’t be disappointed.

Clean and comfortable

Parson Place was super roomy, super comfortable and super clean. We were a group of 4 (2 couples). The floorplan is actually really large, so we each had our own space when desired (one person could read at one end of the house without being disturbed by TV watching at the other end of the house.) But we all could hang out comfortably together too by the impressive fireplace. Location was perfect for us. Quiet and wooded but near enough to Lake Placid, hiking and an even we were attending at Mt VanHoevenburg.

A beautiful place. Impeccably clean, and our every need was anticipated. The hosts were lovely people. If you like to cook, a very well appointed kitchen. If you want to hike the high peaks, you couldn't find a better location. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Exceptional experience

My husband and I stayed at this property as a “home base” to explore the Adirondacks. As avid hikers we enjoyed the quick and easy access to several mountain trails. After hiking we looked forward to rest and relaxation - this was the perfect place to unwind. Clean, well stocked and so many little touches made this place feel like a home away from home. We didn’t want t to leave!

Magnificent Home

The house was very spacious. The kitchen cabinets were well stocked with small appliances and pots and pans. The coffee pot, dish washer and refrigerator were in excellent condition. The master bedroom was very comfortable and the connecting bathroom was very clean. The living room had large windows, fire place, large tv and furniture to enjoy your morning coffee. Exceptional home!!! Owners were very accommodating. Highly recommend.

Lovely home in Upper Jay

Close to attractions, hiking, and good restaurants. House contains everything you could possibly need. Very interesting decorations throughout house. Especially liked the screened in porch for breakfasts and in the evening after dark. Hosts eager to make your stay enjoyable but were unobtrusive.

Great girl’s hiking weekend

The space was beautiful, plenty of room for four friends. The kitchen was really well stocked and perfect for cooking our dinners. Cay met us on arrival to give us a tour and was so friendly, and even picked some blueberries for us! We did a fabulous hike at Jay Mountain Trail - just 7 minutes from the house to the trailhead. Would love to stay here again.

Not just a rental but a home away from home.

Very nice well equipped house that had everything you could need. It was very enjoyable and we appreciated the quality features, the fireplace and the furniture. Super close to Whiteface Mountain and we loved the skiing.

Oh my, how do I begin. An incredible home away from home. Rex and Cay greeted us and provided a walk through of the house, including some history. This was a wonderful place to stay to enjoy the area around Lake Placid but be far enough away from the crowds to enjoy the quiet beauty as well. Rex and Cay were great hosts. Loved the villages of Keene and Keene Valley. Great proximity to Whiteface Mt area as well.

Great place to stay, clean and quiet. Location is close to everything in the area. Host Rex and Cay were extremely nice! House has everything and if we needed anything they were there to help. Would definitely stay there again!
