Lovely lakefront log cabin on Eight Point Lake. Relax or have fun in the lake!

  • Authentic rustic log cabin on 8-Point Lake in Michigan with 100 feet of lake frontage. Enjoy the all sports lake and great swimming in the clear sandy bottom lake just steps away. View the beautiful Fall colors or go golfing on many golf courses near by. Eight Point Lake includes a public accessible boat launch and is stocked with fish each year. We also have a dock to tie up your boat. In summer go on the biking/hiking trail near by or ride your bike or 4-wheeler around the lake. Watch the beautiful Michigan sunsets from a cozy blaze in the fireplace or at the fire pit by the water's edge. It's vacation time!

    Beautiful lake views can be seen from the entire front of the cottage. Can sleep up to 8 people between 3 bedrooms; 1 bedroom with Queen bed on the first floor; Upstairs loft has 1 BR with queen; 1 BR with 2 twins; 2 twins in common area. There is 1 bath on the main floor with a shower. Updated kitchen with supplies. The historical log cabin includes a working stone fireplace in the great room.

    We are approximately a 2 mile bike ride to the Pere Marquette Rail Trail that runs from Midland to Baldwin, MI. You can also ride your bike or walk around the entire lake. There are restaurants nearby along with businesses to buy groceries and necessities. A local produce stand is also available during the growing season.

    We have many golf courses in the area including the challenging Eagle Glen GC only 10 minutes away. Mt. Pleasant is only 30 miles south where there are even more golf courses, restaurants and other activities. It also contains the Soaring Eagle Casino and all the events that are associated with it. Central Michigan University is also a source of entertainment with scheduled events through out the year. Clare is 20 minutes away for more restaurants, bakeries and other small town shopping locations. The owners live next door if you have any questions.

Lovely Log Home on the Lake

We love this historic log cabin with a beautiful view of the lake. It is a relaxing spot for us but would also be a perfect place for an active family to enjoy water sports.

Beautiful and spacious log cabin

This place was well stocked and clean. We had plenty of room to sleep and relax. The deck overlooking the lake was a favorite spot. If you wake up early the sun shines in and lights up the whole common area. It was beautiful.

Lovely lake front log home

This was our 3rd summer visit and it did not disappoint. The spacious cabin is very clean, well supplied, and directly on a perfect lake for swimming, boating, or just relaxing. We highly recommend for a wonderful lakeside vacation.

Cabin was clean and cozy. Exactly what you picture when you say you want a cabin on the lake! We will be back! Thank you to the cotters they were amazing host! Water level was low but we made it work with our pontoon, as most Michigan lakes are right now.

We had another great time at the lake! Denise is wonderful to work with and we love the cottage. The location is great and easy to find. The cabin is spacious with beautiful views and access to the lake. Look forward to returning next year.

Waterfront Gem

Ideal destination home for anyone just wanting to unplug. Home offers plenty of the essentials to enjoy your stay. Dock and water access was perfect for us to access our pontoon and spend the day on the lake and the sandbar. We hope to book again soon

Perfect for a family with young children

Nice shallow beach area for a long way out. Easy to keep track of young children. Cabin is very comfortable. Kitchen great for cooking or baking of any sort. Wish I could’ve stayed longer

Great stay

the cottage is very nice. We always bring items we need at other rentals. We found we did not need to. You will not find better location and access to all your needs while staying on Eight Point Lake. This by far was our best location, cottage, and great hosts. We highly recommend renting this cottage.

Relaxing stay

We brought our boat but didn't end up putting it in because the lake level was way down (the water was about ankle deep at the end of the dock). The property owners were diligent about offering solutions that would have allowed us to tie it off offshore, but we chose not to do so. Not putting the boat into the water turned out to be a good thing. We got the chance to just relax in the comfortable outdoor chairs sitting along the shoreline and a couple times by the fire (thanks for providing firewood (nice bonus)). We visited many of the local dives (I mean that in a good way) in some of the small towns nearby. Had some incredible meals and maybe one or two average ones! Having been to nearby areas before, we knew what to expect which is what really makes this part of Michigan so relaxing. The kitchen is modern and well stocked. There's even a Keurig now! A basting brush was about the only item we found missing for our needs (BBQ sauce (mmm)), The house is well appointed, but most the sofas and chairs were well past the sell-by date for comfort level (the padding is well worn out). However, as frequent renter I can say that this does seem to be almost always the case for furniture. Get out of the house, right? Good idea. A gas grill is provided. The hosts are next door and are super friendly, helpful and respectful of your privacy. It was a really relaxing experience.

Perfect Place on Eight Point Lake

This was either the third or fourth time we have stayed at the Cotter Cottage, and we enjoy it every time. This time was even better because the Cotter's suggested a local Golf Cart Company and we rented a golf cart for the week. So much fun!

Lovely lake house

We had a wonderful time staying at this lake house. Like many of the other guests had mentioned, it’s even better than the pictures. Several sitting areas inside to get out of the sun and play games. Comfortable beds and furniture. You will not be disappointed.
