Awesome View Vacation Rentals: The Mermaid Lair

Owners Mike and Gina Friccero welcome you to the Awesome Views Vacation Rental: The Mermaid's Lair. Our top of the line beds and linens guarantee a good nights rest surrounded by beauty .Private parking/entry, with Ocean front Views that are unbeatable. Private deck with each room. Walking distance from town, museums shopping and restaurants. Good viewing for birds, sea lions and the occasional Killer Whale Pod that cruises by. Lovely sunrises over the Ocean, but remember this is the land of the midnight sun! Bring sleep mask if overly light sensitive. Recommended to bring warm clothes even in summer. Lightweight rain gear is a good thing to include in your pack.
Please note: we are no longer a B&B and do not provide food service. Kodiak no longer has cable TV only streaming.
Children are welcome. Our home is on a park strip that offers plenty of room for kids to run and play. Within walking distance of public pool, High School and the bridge to Near Island. Claw foot Tub May Be Hard To Access For Seniors Bath. Oceanfront private room with bath. We don't feel this space is large enough for three adults, unless it's a family with adult or young child. Please note: this is a room, not an apartment and has a queen and single bed.

The view was absolutely spectacular from the mermaid lair!! the Hawaiian themed bathroom was probably my favorite thing about this place! small kitchen with no oven or stove top was unexpected but nothing that couldn’t be adjusted to. Would definitely stay here again, location can’t be beat!

It was indeed an awesome view. The hosts are really friendly. It has a separate entrance which is nice. Walking distance to downtown if you don't have a car, but if you do there is a place to park. It is built on a hill in front of the ocean, and requires walking down a flight of stairs each time you come and go. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck just taking in the scenery and sounds.

Perfect room, great view, comfy bed. It is down a full flight of stairs. A parking space is provided. Also coffee maker in room, microwave and fridge. Nice TV. Lots of closet space. The tub is a claw foot high sided tub. If you are mobility impaired, it could be difficult. I had a great 5 days here at the Mermaid Lair.

Here for work

Perfect for someone visiting but I prefer a place with a kitchen. Claw tub with shower is not my thing, but it works with a lot of hot water.

I love Kodiak! The VRBO I stayed at was so perfect for me. The location was great and it was right on the bay. The balcony was great to sit on and enjoy the beautiful weather and watch the boats going by and the float planes taking off. I would stay here again!

Awesome Kodiak Studio

Perfect studio set-up. Awesome view of the channel, easy walk into town. Quiet. Nice little deck. "Everything you need and nothing you don't." Would definitely recommend to a friend and plan to re-book on my next trip to Kodiak.

I loved this property and it was a perfect relaxing spot. I slept well and enjoyed the quiet. I highly recommend this place. If you stay here and have some mobility issues this may not be the best option. There are steep stairs and the bathtub has a higher ledge. Otherwise a beautiful location and plenty of places to walk for a great view. Please take advantage of Carol's Cab as well.

Terrific place with outstanding view of the water. Close enough to the Downtown area that it was an easy walk. Gina, our host, was easy to access and very helpful. Overall a great experience.

Delightful efficiency with a nice view.

We stayed 7 nights and overall, would rent again. The efficiency is well decorated, clean, comfortable bed with a nice view of the water, watching boats come and go from the balcony. The hot water is shared with the other Suite so there were times we had to wait to shower.

The lady is very unfriendly from the moment trying to get in the door. Paper thin wall that you can hear the people upstairs snore and fart. Very steep steps to get in and out of the place. The hot water won’t fill the tub so forget that too. Don’t waste your money

Perfect cozy retreat

The Mermaid’s Lair was a perfect getaway for me and my husband. We stayed 3 nights on a trip to Kodiak for golf and relaxation. We loved the view; the weather was perfect for sitting on the deck, and the room was comfortable and had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Crab Festival 2022

Our hosts made sure we were all tucked in, and let us enjoy the Mermaids lair. They offered to let us borrow bikes, and Wow! That was so much fun to see Kodiak by bike. It was more than just a stunning view!
