Relax at the edge of the sea in beautiful Kakanui. Overlooking Campbells Bay with sea views from every room, we offer a comfortable and cosy experience. With therapeutic sounds of the beach within walking distance, and historic Oamaru only 14kms away, you can enjoy a bit of both worlds.

A 1970s crib that has been extended over time, resulting in a quirky layout with three interconnected bedrooms that come off the lounge (no hallway), and is most suitable for families or close friends.

Please note: the house has old fittings and carpet so that animals can stay. Still very comfortable though :)

Of all the places we stayed at during our three months in NZ this was the only disappointing property. It has such potential as a cosy comfortable cottage but it just felt like it needed a deep clean. We were glad we only booked two nights. It really is a lovely location and if it was spruced up it would make for a lovely stay. We had no issues checking in and had we been there longer we would have contacted the property owner with our concerns.

Loved the 70s Kiwi Bach!

Loved the authentic kiwi Bach overlooking the ocean. This well loved home had everything we needed to cook our own meals, sleep in comfortable beds and enjoy being in a Bach ! We loved being in a quiet rural countryside and enjoyed the ability to walk to the beach and seaside path. Would definitely stay again!

Making memories

Stayed here for Christmas for 4 nights. It was the best holiday ever! The host Mel was so lovely great communication nothing a problem so friendly. Would definitely book a house of her again in the future. This house is awesome views are amazing.!! Will be back!

Fabulous!

Loved the conservatory! Spent ages watching the ever changing ocean. A great spot to unwind, walk on the beach and around the small town of Kakanui. The house has all you need.

Delightful stay

This is a classic Kiwi bach with many of the original charms still intact. Appropriately priced, the house is very warm, clean and comfortable with fabulous sea views from every room. Would definitely stay again

Arrived to find a building site

Booked 12 months in advance as part of a present for my wife. I received check-in details two days before arrival. When we arrived, the house was surrounded by scaffolding, was missing windows, had warning signs for live wires, and had builders on-site doing extensive internal repairs. It was entirely uninhabitable and the builders had no knowledge of our booking. Host didn't answer multiple phone calls from me or bookabach customer support. Eventually got a refund, but with no other places available, we ended up having to sleep 4 people in our car.

Million dollar oceanfront view

Lovely house with oceanfront view just as pictured we loved everything about it, decor was lovely with a coastal vibe and sunroom was my favorite spot. Would highly recommend staying there. Host was gracious and let us check out late to max out our stay.

Real holiday

This “quirky” residence lived up to that description. A real retro feel but for us and 2 dogs it all worked out very well. Needed to be tech savvy to use TV etc. location great especially in regard to the sea - lots of beach walks available

Excellent would have liked to stay longer

First of all don’t you have older people stay three girls all in our eighties. No sure about about chrome cast a lot of folk couldn’t work that what is wrong with turning on the tv and getting a signal. Couldn’t get the electric blanket to work in the double bed room still a hot water bottled worked fine. Had a lovely stay and spent a lot of dollars in oamaru
