Woodenhouse

Newly launched for rental, Woodenhouse is a uniquely designed. holiday cottage for families of up to 7 people. Located in North West Skye it is ideally located for foodies, walkers, or simply for those that want a secluded family break in the extraordinary landscape of the Isle of Skye.

Finished with high quality furnishing and fittings, the house exudes a relaxed style, and enjoys a panoramic view over the seascape of north west Skye.
The space
Woodenhouse was designed and built by the owners. Gill and Alan established one of the Highlands most successful architectural practices, whose work is regularly profiled in the press and regularly wins architectural awards.

An open plan living, dining and kitchen space features a panoramic window over an open view of the sea, the cliffs and the distant islands. Summer sunsets are something that memories can be made of. Inside you will find a log burner, built-in fittings, and a fully fitted kitchen. The 4 bedrooms all feature open ceilings , and once again a beautiful view. The bathrooms comprise a downstairs bathroom and an upstairs shower room.

The bedrooms are configured as follows.

The house will have all you need for your holiday. WiFi, bluetooth/airplay music system and a large screen Smart TV. Fully fitted kitchen (including dishwasher, full height fridge freezer etc) together with separate laundry cupboard with washing machine and tumble dryer. Towels are provided and the beds have beautiful Egyptian cotton sheets.

We cannot guarantee beautiful sunsets every week, however, the landscape never fails to captivate, whatever the time of year.

A few non-perishable “basics” are provided as a start to your holiday, together with a starter pack of logs, kindling and firelighters for the Woodburner . A small surprise will also be waiting for you when you arrive.

Woodenhouse is purpose designed for families, unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets. The house is also very strictly no-smoking.

Availability is from Friday- Monday or Monday – Friday only. Entry is any time from 4.00 on the day of arrival.
Guest access
Guests will have Woodenhouse all to themselves. Our other holiday let, a small cottage called the Tinhouse is nearby, however, each cottage retains complete privacy from one another,
Other things to note
Woodenhouse is a unique architecturally designed property. Please look through the photos and decide for yourself if it is age appropriate for small children.

Beautiful home & view

We had a lovely time at the Woodenhouse. It’s such an impeccable home and the view is to die for. Skye is a lovely island and this was a terrific place to visit from although trips out on the Island do need time so you can take your time driving the single track roads with cars and sheep :) we found ourselves wanting to spend more time at the house than out as it was so lovely.

Amazing views

Beautiful house at the end of the island. Stunning view. We got to see dolphins, seals and eagles from the living room.Plan lots of time if you want to explore Skye from here, since it is pretty far out and the roads are only to driven slowly.The house was not quite as clean as we had expected but Alan and Gill were very kind and did everything to correct it.

Amazing!

Incredible views - Immaculate home!

What a property! From the moment we pulled in, we were in awe of the scenic beauty, tasteful decor, well-designed floor plan, and unbelievable attention to detail the hosts provided. Being in a more remote location with young children, we cooked every meal in the house and found the kitchen had absolutely everything we needed. Having access to laundry indoors was a huge plus, the linens were high quality, and the wood stove in the evenings was delightful. The house made such great use of natural light and has been designed to showcase the beauty of the location. We could not stop taking in those views from every room with the windows and skylights. We hated to leave and will always treasure our time at Woodenhouse!

Great House

It will be hard to find a better place than the Woodhouse. The house is well furnished, all commodities are available and functional. The view is unbelievable. We loved the place very much.

Perfect location for view and comfort

The property is ideal for those seeking the rugged and dramatic seascapes of skye. Would definitely stay here again. 10/10. Just be mindful when planning excursions to plan distance time by car. Skye is bigger than you think. Neist point, coral bay, talisker tour all excellent.

Outstanding!

We had the privilege of spending 4 days in Woodenhouse, including my birthday. Each day was a beautiful gift of sunrises, sunsets, rain, and, one morning, a loch filled with fog that slowly dissipated over the course of 2 hours. Since I was generally awake before everyone else I was able to enjoy the peace that this place has to offer while everyone else was asleep in the comfort of their rooms. I highly recommend staying here if you like a place that is off the beaten path and provides solitude. We all loved it! For reference, we were here with 2 people in their 50s, 2 people in there 30s, and a teen.

A wonderful stay with a view!

We stayed at the Wooden House prior to our daughter’s wedding at Dunvegan Castle. The place is beautiful, every amenity you could think of. The view is outstanding with an unbelievable sunset every night. It is in a remote setting, which we wanted but close by is the village of Glendale with groceries, a very nice café and even a local craft market on Tuesday’s. We really didn’t want to leave and would definitely go back.

Overwhelmed by view and house

Renting from thousands of miles away based on pictures can be a crap shoot. This one exceeded my expectations in every way. The house seems much bigger inside than out. Almost made me want to skip the rest of Skye and sit at house and watch for whales and submarines. Thanks Alan and Gill
