Holyrood Abbey :) I found the Abbey quite peaceful after a day walking up and down the Royal Mile. At one end sits Edinburgh Castle and the other end is Holyrood Palace. The Palace itself is pretty and fun on the inside. The Abbey on the outside is where all the history seems to come alive. We ended up being there on a drizzly morning and the rain made everything seem crisp and fresh. There’s a fee to get in and see Holyrood but it’s worth visiting at least once to see the Abbey and the gardens. #history

Holyrood Abbey is a ruined abbey of the Canons Regular in Edinburgh, Scotland. The abbey was founded in 1128 by King David I. During the 15th century, the abbey guesthouse was developed into a royal residence, and after the Scottish Reformation the Palace of Holyroodhouse was expanded further. The abbey church was used as a parish church until the 17th century, and has been ruined since the 18th century. The remaining walls of the abbey lie adjacent to the palace, at the eastern end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile. The site of the abbey is protected as a scheduled monument.
There was something so mystic about the ruins of the Holyrood Abbey in the Palace of Holyrood in Edinburgh, Scotland. Built in 1500s this seeps in History and beautifies the lovely city of Edinburgh.
The Abbey was founded in 1128 by King David I. It was used as a Parish church until the 17th century and has been ruined since the 18th century. Well worth a visit if you are in Edinburgh. #InStone

Apartamento espacioso. Lo único malo, pero solucionable con un trozo de cartón, es que todas las puertas del apartamento se cerraban solas.

Overall a gem. The location is perfect with access to the train station, the royal mile and market street. Quiet and great rooms. The only complaint is the small and slow elevator, which is nothing. Will be staying here again, loved the hotel and the staff

Edinburgh Heritage have documents from the 1700's with all the names of the people that lived in the historic close, including Lord Adam Gordon; David Doig, merchant; William Dunbar, weaver and Ewen. Visiting here gives a good impression of what living in the old city must have been like.
