  • ** WELCOME TO HUNTER'S LODGE**

    Spectacular, panoramic mountain view from sunrise to sunset. Sitting on 12 acres, this custom built, luxury home is located on Highlands Mountain. 15 minutes from downtown Highlands. On top of Highlands Mountain. It is one of the the highest homes in the area, placed right next to forest service land for additional privacy and easy access to hiking trails. Maps for hiking trails are available in home.
    ****View is so expansive that you can see hawks and eagles soaring past the balconies*****

    ***Home was built by a renowned custom log home builder with handmade, custom features throughout entire home****

    The house is fully stocked (towels, linens, soap, toilet tissue, garbage bags, paper towels, cleaning agents, etc.).400-1200 count sheets throughout. Temperpedic master bed. Down comforters throughout home. Thirsty towels throughout. The refrigerator has purified water.The spring fed tap water is remarkable and guests take a gallon or 2 home with them. A fully stocked gourmet kitchen with mountain views awaits your culinary skills. Please bring charcoal if you plan on using outside grill. Also bring fire logs if you plan on using the outside fire pit.
    *If you are booked during the winter months, please bring a bag of "ice melt" or sand just in case the driveway gets icy.*
    Please extinguish fire and empty trash after enjoying the fire pit.
    In winter months, please pick up 1-2 bags of salt in case of snow. 4WD vehicles are also recommended if you know it is going to be snowing. If you do not have a 4WD vehicle and we get a snow storm, just park at the top of driveway on the grass.
    The property looks and feels like a 5 star mountain resort. Spend the day hiking on groomed, creekside mountain trails and your evening dining at an award winning restaurant in Highlands. We have run into town to buy supplies only to find ourselves still there 5 hours later exploring the many unique shops and trying a new restaurant for lunch and/or dinner. Coming home to this beautiful estate is priceless. Fireplaces inside and out will thrill you all 4 seasons with the push a a remote control button. Fire pit for memorable outdoor nights by a roaring fire.

Great location with awesome porch to enjoy fresh air and in our case wonderful thunderstorms. Kitchen has everything you could want. We enjoyed the game room too.

Great Time at The Hunter's Lodge

Enjoyed a nice quiet Thanksgiving week at the property. Everything was perfect. Beautiful area, near plenty of National Forests and Parks. We had a great time. The Cabin was very comfortable and nice. Can't wait to come back.

Family Time

We enjoyed our time together at the Lodge and definitely will plan to stay again. Location was perfect for us and lots of room to spread out as a family. Play room was a huge hit with younger crowd and hot tub was great.

We loved the mountain lodge—great character, comfortable, good amenities, comfy beds. Hosts DJ & Hunter were very helpful & responsive to any questions. A special thanks for the info re: hikes. Bartram Trail near the house was spectacular, even on a cloudy day. Thanks & we plan to return.

Cozy Cabin with Stunning Mountain Views and Exceptional Hospitality!

We had an amazing stay at this cabin! The mountain view was absolutely stunning, and we couldn’t get enough of it. The host was incredibly responsive and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Getting to enjoy the snow was an unexpected bonus that made the trip even more special. We can only imagine how breathtaking the view must be in the fall when the leaves change colors. This was a perfect getaway, and we would definitely stay here again!

Paradise!

This was the perfect property for our Motorcycle getaway! The area is so Beautiful, Waterfalls are spectacular, roads are perfect for our Riding. We spent so much time under the covered entry and the back patio it was amazing! The Kitchen was perfect for cooking our dinners! Overall one of the Best vacations and VRBO's ever. I have to give a Big Thank You to DJ our Host, she went above and beyond helping me with everything, I will be back to this Property!!

Great Mountain cabin

... I say cabin but the house is sizable, with more room than I expected. The location is great with nice views, while reasonably close to Highlands. It has an outdoor fireplace on the deck, as well an indoor one. We enjoyed sitting on the deck every evening (when we weren't in the hottub). You can book this property with no regrets!

This was such a wonderful experience in an amazing house with incredible views. The hosts were very accommodating and responsive. The house is nicely decorated and gives you the quintessential mountain experience. My kids didn’t run out of any activities and had a blast playing in the game room and outside. BEAUTIFUL cabin with amazing views!!

The cabin and property grounds were beautiful! We really enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit, and views! It was so peaceful and a nice getaway from city life. The host left a bottle of wine and a bag of coffee, which was very thoughtful. The bedroom on the main is great for those who cannot climb the stairs. The kitchen is well-equipped along with all the basic supplies. We had a great time visiting several of the local waterfalls and trails. We will definitely be back! Loved it!!

Beautiful Cabin

Hunter’s Lodge is exactly as described. DJ was very quick to answer any questions we had. The cabin is secluded, but is still a really short drive into Highlands. I’ve never stayed in a cabin that provides what we had at Hunter’s Lodge; spices, seasonings, condiments, k-cups, creamer, body wash, shampoo, robes, and the list goes on. The kitchen has every pot, pan or utensil you would need. Our family had such a wonderful time I would definitely recommend Hunter’s Lodge and give it a 5 Star, Excellent rating. Thank you DJ!

Fabulous Property

We enjoyed every minute we were at Hunter's Lodge. It is a fantastic property. The view from the porch is amazing. What a perfect place to spend Thanksgiving and with the outdoor area it would be fantastic in the summer. The property is large so you never feel like anyone is nearby. Your kitchen is amazingly equipped. The only thing we felt missing were wine glasses, but that was no big deal. We could definitely tell, based on some of your decor, you must enjoy wine as much as we do. Thank you again for having such a wonderful home and sharing it with us. MHS

Rustic with great views

Beautiful setting, enjoyed our stay. Scenic drive into Highlands, only about 15 mins away. Plenty of parking space, great covered entry access for unloading and loading. Game room was fun with ping pong and foosball. Chess set and tic tac toe were also a hit. Mountain views and sunrises were awesome! Light snow on our drive up made for an exceptional wake up mountain view the next morning. Nice trail to hike right on property. DJ was very responsive and provided answers for all of our questions. Very quiet area and very relaxing. We had AWD with snow mode and had no issues navigating the driveway with light snow and ice. Indoor gas fireplace with switch to start was so easy and used it multiple times. Thanks for a nice long weekend!

Very Disappointed with the Property Manager/Owner

Over all the property is nice and secluded, everything we were hoping for. Here are the issues we had though. First: the house is rather dark, especially the upstairs, this is mainly because several of the bulbs were out in chandeliers that could not be easily reached. Second: the out door fire place did not work at all, the property manager indicated they’d send someone out but didn’t happen. Lastly: if you shower in the upstairs master water will leak through the light fixture in the downstairs bathroom. This did not bother us, I understand this is a home not a hotel. What got me is that they have tried to levy additional charges for leaving “un-bagged garbage” in their bins. We did leave a wine box with empty bottles and a beer box in them and for this they are trying to bill us for an additional $125 dollars. Looking through other comments they have done similar things to others. I would not recommend this place unless you are willing to pay for additional charges after you leave. I have never had issues like this before with VRBO properties, this one however was rather disappointing after the fact.

Wonderful Views and Location

The house is charming. The small things you would like to have are there. The bedding was very nice. We rented in part because there was a king sized bed which turns out to not be the Tempur Pedic bed in the description. ( that bed is in the upstairs Main bedroom and is the Queen) The King was VERY hard and to us unusable. The floors, bathrooms and dishes were all clean. The appliances needed some attention. The Gas grill was in fine shape but I prefer charcoal and the charcoal grill grate had rusted to an unusable state and when we contacted DJ about it she immediately came up with a solution where I replaced it during one of our outings and she would reimburse me for it. Great solution. The Ping Pong table was another "must" for us and we had such fun playing though our son beat us every game. The paddles have run their useful life and should be replaced but still function. Overall a good stay for us and if the service and maintenance teams treated the property more like their own and got rid of cob webs on light fixtures, spread the mulch instead of leaving the bags to breakdown where they were dropped and just spent more time doing what they get paid to do with attention to detail, this property would clearly be worth what is charged to stay here. Note to motorcyclists- The steep drive is easily managed and paved all the way BUT we came in the fall and wet leaves are a significant issue and they completely covered the pavement so I had to sweep the entire steep part each day to ensure I could safely negotiate the turn and sudden rise in the driveway by the gate when coming or going. (a blower or rake would have been handy!) When you settle into one of the many seats on the patio with that wonderful gas fireplace beside you and look out across the valley at the mountains which seem to get closer or move away based on the lighting, it is a remarkable place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the mountains, quiet solitude of the property and enjoy some time away.

The house was so roomy for all of us to spread out in. Kitchen had all the equipment etc to cook a meal in. Kids loved the bunk room and game room. Adults loved the back porch and fire places. It is centrally located to all the waterfalls and hikes around Cashiers, Highlands, and Franklin. I have been coming to the area for about 20 years. This time we found two waterfall hikes that I have never been to one is called secret Falls near Highlands and the other is Rufus Morgan Falls near Franklin very close to Wayah Bald.

Hunter's Lodge

We had a great stay for a week at the cabin. Property and the cabin was perfect. We had a great communication with the host & would definitely recommend it to all of my family and friends. As nice as the pictures on line are it looks even nicer in person.
