Our Beach Home here next to Hanalei Bay can be yours! Walk out your front door and across the grass to the sand and sea.

Hanalei Moon Beach Cottage is named after the famous Hawaiian song "Hanalei Moon," which extols the extreme beauty and romance of the Hanalei Valley under the tropical night sky.

The cottage is located on the quiet end of town on Weke Road, right on the beach park, on 1/3 acre within walking distance of all the restaurants, shops and galleries. Waterfalls are the backdrop for our little beach house.

There is complete cozy kitchen where you can whip up fabulous food from the Hanalei Fish Market, the Farmer's Market, or just make snacks to go and enjoy some of the great local restaurants.

King size bed and lights for reading at night. It has a separate bathroom entrance. We have a little library for your use and quite a few great books on Kauai and Hawaii in general.

We have a little telescope in the living room so that you can better see boats, whales, and dolphins ply the Bay by day and enjoy the moon and stars at night. If you're lucky, you may see a moon bow, something I have only seen in Hanalei. It will happen on a night when there are stars, moon and clouds together. If the clouds are sailing by on the gentle trade winds and shedding some tears, the rain will be illuminated by the moon shining from the cloudless part of the sky. Talk about breathtaking! Depending on the brightness of the moon, you may discern the colors of the rainbow.

Snorkeling, swimming, diving, paddling, hiking, golfing and a health club are all as close as your front yard, to as far as a 10-minute drive away. Walk across your front yard and look to the left; you're likely to see hardly anyone for a mile. Look to the right and you'll probably see surfers, volleyball players and beachgoers, with the Hanalei Pier at the far end of the Bay in the background.

The State of Hawaii requires a rental agreement. The rental agreement has different cancellation policies than VRBO.

Please be aware that when you book this house or any accommodations by the ocean in Hawaii, not on a bluff, you are booking in a tsunami evacuation zone. Evacuation instructions will be in the house and notice of the tsunami evacuation zone will be part of your contract. Also please know that there is a charge of $15 per night for charging of electric vehicles at this property.

Amazing property on Hanalei Bay

This is a wonderful property directly on Hanalei Bay. We really enjoyed being able to walk through the backyard and onto the beach. The house is a great size for 2 people, with plenty of outdoor spaces as well. The owners have recently updated the interior with new smart tvs and stainless steel appliances, giving the house an updated feel. They also provide some beach chairs, snorkeling gear and grill accessories for the charcoal Weber grill, which all helped to make our stay more enjoyable. This property will definitely be on our list to return to!

Perfect getaway cottage.

This is a perfect location and view to appreciate everything about Hanalei—views, peace, privacy. Cottage adequately stocked, tho dated. If you are a walker, it is within walking distance of village, depending on heat/humidity. Perfect size for 1 or 2 people.

Amazing Location, great beach house

The beach house itself is nothing fancy but exactly what you need. Location is incredible. My wife and I stayed and took advantage of cooking in the cottage for breakfast and heading into town for dinners. Hanalei Bay is an amazing place to stay on the island and this cottage is located exactly where you want to be.The ONLY negative I'd say are the roosters living very close to the house, one right by the bedroom which had us up early a couple of mornings haha

Excellent location, perfect vacation

Half Moon Bay was amazing. The location was perfect. Close enough to town to easily get to stuff but far enough away to feel secluded. The beach is right there and you almost feel like it’s your own private beach. And the house was great. If I had any quibble with anything, it was with the fact that there were no directions on how to access local tv channels to watch sports. But that is relatively minor. We would come back 10 out of 10 times.

A Perfect Getaway

This cottage was a perfect getaway for my partner and I. It was beautiful, right on the beach, quiet and close enough to town to bike (which we rented for the week) in for dinner. As we are not cooks and live so rurally that we don’t eat out often, enjoying the many exotic meal options was fun for us. Couldn’t have been better.

The house was just as represented in the listing. Simple place, but all the basic amenities were there. Nice to have the outdoor shower and washer/dryer. It was all about the location for us. We love Hanalei Bay. View is incredible. Thank you!

cozy cottage with a lovely view

We enjoyed our stay in this cozy cottage on Hanalei Bay with a view of the bay through beautiful trees--it was hard to pull ourselves away. It had everything we needed--the outdoor shower is so convenient and there are lots of books to read if it rains. The cottage is on a lawn shared with several other rentals so we got to know our fellow visitors!

Peaceful Oasis Steps from the Bay

An absolutely magical place that I would highly reccomend and can't wait to return to. The house was very sweet and homey. We were able to comfortably cook many meals in the house. We spent every day just reading and relaxing at the beach, which is basically only separated from the house by a large lawn. You can see the ocean from your living room window and we woke up to the sound of crashing waves and beautiful sunrises every morning. Absolutely idylic. We will be back.

Perfect location

The location of the moon beach cottage is perfect, you’re literally steps from the sand. The cottage is small but works well for two people. The AC is nice to have on hot days. It’s also on the quieter end of the bay which is nice. We had a fantastic stay.

Hanalei Moon our private refuge

We had a lovely stay at the Hanalei Moon cottage. It’s located at the western end of Hanalei Beach, on a large lawn which is shared with several other houses. The house is set well back from the beach, but the view across the lawn is pretty, and we enjoyed the easy access from the street. The cottage was well appointed, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was small but adequate for light cooking, and included an unvented gas range. We limited our cooking to breakfast items and using the microwave. There is a charcoal grill with charcoal provided. The washer and dryer worked well, though they are located outside under the overhanging eave. There is a large, outdoor shower, on a deck next to the house, and it is screened for privacy. I used that shower, daily, during our stay. There is an air conditioning unit, located in the dining / sitting area, which works well to cool the house in the evening.

Great slice of paradise

Incredible beachfront cottage bungalow building. Great for couples or families with one child. Easy walking to the beach and quick drive into town. Great for those seeking a relaxed atmosphere and more privacy.

Location! Location! Location!

This quaint bungalow was so perfect for me and my husband! Seconds walk to Hanalei Bay Beach with access to beach coolers, beach chairs and towels! Fully equipped kitchen made it easy t make breakfast every morning. Bed was very comfortable and option for open air or AC was nice! We are already trying to plan our next stay here!

Practically Perfect
