Luxury villa with private pool, peaceful, ancient wine village, close to sea

Les Hirondelles is a lovely villa secluded down its own private drive, with electric gates. Nestling in the lea of a hill, the villa faces south for all-day sunshine. 5 minutes walk to the village centre, with it's 4 restaurants (2 just at the end of the drive!), boulangerie, tabac/bar and short drive to supermarket. 10 mins drive from the Mediterranean's sandy beaches at Leucate and La Franqui and huge salt lakes (etangs) for wind and kite surfing, boating, crabbing and walking.

Fitou is a wine village, so there's plenty of wine tasting to indulge in. The medieval castle and bar are only a short walk from the villa, as are two lovely restaurants. The village itself is quiet and peaceful, but there's masses to do and see in the locality - there’s a folder in the villa packed with info & ideas.

The villa has a comfortable stylish interior, furnished to a high standard. Four double bedrooms are well appointed - 3 in the main villa (two twins and a master with king 4-poster/ en-suite) plus a very spacious king bed en-suite across the terrace in the pool house (perfect if one couple or grandparents want a bit of privacy). All bedrooms have french windows opening to the garden. Two open directly onto a lovely deck, one onto the pool terrace. Large family bathroom and a separate loo in addition to the en-suites. The spacious, high ceiling living room opens out onto the terrace, pool and garden. Enjoy squashy sofas, UK TV, games, DVDs, reversible air-con/heating, plus good wifi. The luxury kitchen has granite worktops and is very well stocked with equipment. There is a separate utility room with all laundry facilities should you need them.

Step out from the spacious living area onto the long covered terrace by the pool with gas barbecue, big table and comfy chairs - perfect for eating alfresco, with views to the hills or the stars at night. Around the pool are plenty of comfortable sunbeds. Room to park cars securely in the drive.

Lavender, olives and almond trees can be found in the garden, together with native agaves.

Wir verbrachten 2 sehr schöne Wochen in Fitou! Das Haus ist exzellent ausgestattet. Eine sehr schöne, ruhige Lage am Dorfende. Das Örtchen Fitou lädt zu sehr guten Weinverkostungen ein!

Impressive villa in a great location

The villa was very impressive. It was spotless and had all the amenities that were needed. Julie and Ian were great property managers and were flexible in accommodating our flight times, which meant to we could arrive at the villa earlier than expected. The location is also excellent - two very good restaurants at the end of the drive and more within walking distance in the village. It was also only a 10 minute walk to the boulangerie in the morning. I cannot recommend this villa enough.

Well equipped house in tranquil location

A beautifully presented house situated in a quiet village but with several excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. Wine tasting and a small bar all within the village and 15minute drive to the beach/lake. Absolutely loved it. The house had everything we needed and more. Ian and Julie, the house managers were lovely and very helpful, giving great tips about restaurants, supermarkets, etc. We were lucky to be there for a month and had a really wonderful time. Would highly recommend it.

Sublime September Stay

This was our second stay at Les Hirondelles and we enjoyed another wonderful week. Ian and Julie (the property managers) helped us settle in quickly and the villa was even more spoiling and comfortable thanks to the new Kitchen area. This is a place where you can truly switch off and relax and there’s no doubt in our minds that we will hope to return at some point in the not too distant future - thank you!

Bright, comfortable home in a quiet location

We enjoyed this cute, bright house with it’s blissful air conditioning! The back porch, table and pool were great and it was so cool to see the swallows diving into the pool in the evenings. We took full advantage of the two great restaurants that are literally at the end of the driveway. Fitou is very, very quiet with no shops, one rather sad boulangerie and many wine tasting caves. It’s absolutely beautiful if you are looking for a quiet getaway. The beaches are 15-20 minutes away, but an easy drive. The whole area is very easy to drive around and Fitou made a good base for day trips in all directions.

Fabulous Villa in Charming Fitou

Truly lovely week staying in this fabulous villa in Fitou. The villa is a wonderful size - more than enough for our family of 2 adults and 2 almost as big teens, and impeccably appointed. Location strikes a fabulous balance between privacy/quietness and still being within the village, only a stroll from restaurants, shops and caves des vins. There’s plenty of parking on the villa’s private driveway and the pool was very welcome at the end of a day exploring the area. Special mention must go to Cave de Agnes, no more than 200m from the villa, at which we had a lovely meal, Chateau Abalanet, whose old vine wines we really enjoyed and Anamandine in the car park near the Mairie who do wonderful pizzas and burgers to eat there or take away, which our kids thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you very much Lizzie and family!

Maison très agréable et accueillante

La villa d'Élisabeth est vraiment agréable. Elle est très joliment décorée, fonctionnelle et particulièrement bien équipée (grand choix d'ustensiles de cuisines) avec un grand rechange de verres, assiettes et couverts qui nous permettait d'être tranquilles pour la journée. La maison est suffisamment spacieuse et bien agencée pour préserver l'intimité de chacun (nous étions 3 couples). Enfin la literie est excellente. Nous avons également apprécié la bouteille de vin de Fitou qui nous attendait en signe de bienvenue. Valérie

Amazing Place Excellent Service

Our time at the property was amazing. Wonderful safe place for me and my wife and our three children. Walking distance too many wine tasting opportunities and restaurants. Wonderful beaches with kite surfing, wind surfing, and paddleboard opportunities abound. Couldnt have enjoyed it more. We hope to be back!!!

En amont, un contact absolument parfait avec le propriétaire. Great villa in a lovely location

Fitou is a quaint little village famous for its wineries. The villa is absolutely wonderful, spacious and tastefully decorated, has everything you may need for home-away-from-home holiday. The swimming pool was great for kids (1.30m deep so younger kids need floats) and also for days when beach wasn't very welcoming (in our case due to unusually strong wind). All the communication with the owner and the property manager brilliant, many thanks for all the tips and help! Leucate and La Franqui beaches are beautiful and spacious with clean shallow waters, not too busy and, at this time packed with French people. If you're a wine lover, you're in for a treat. Warmly recommended!

Unvergesslich schöne Ferien in Les Hirondelles

Das Haus hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Es ist groß und sehr gut ausgestattet.Es ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und liegt total ruhig am Ende des Ortes. Der Pool und die Terrasse lassen keine Wünsche offen. Wir haben sicherlich weniger unternommen, als geplant, weil es einfach so schön war. Für einen größeren Einkauf empfehlen wir das Centre Commercial Carrefour Perpignan. Es liegt im Norden von Perpignan und ist nur 15 Min. entfernt.

Wonderful Villa

We think this property probably surpassed our expectations and the three couples agree that it was perfect. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with ample china, glassware and cutlery and the bedrooms were very comfortable. There was plenty of hot water for the excellent showers. Outside there was a plentiful supply of sunloungers and seating for outside dining. The villa is very private yet very easily accessible to some wonderful restaurants in the village.

Fantastic Fitou

A wonderful stay in a beautiful Villa Family and friends spent a week in Hirondelles and enjoyed every moment The Villa was very well equipped, the rooms very comfortable and the facilities were of high quality .We enjoyed days by the pool and wined and dined at the house or in the excellent local restaurants . The local beach at Biques Leucate , was fantastic . Wonderful!

Fantastic villa

We stayed for one week in August - 4 adults & 4 teenage children. It was a fantastic villa - everything you could possibly need was provided. Lovely comfy beds (1 with a walk-in wardrobe!), fabulously well equipped kitchen, good aircon, gorgeous warm clean pool, gas bbq, lovely large seating areas. Short drive to good beaches. Rust en authenticiteit

De vakantiewoning is ruim, aangenaam en voorzien van alle comfort. Het zwembad is een must. Ian, de contactpersoon ter plaatse, is steeds bereikbaar en erg behulpzaam. Dank, daarvoor ! Fitou is een wat ingeslapen, maar anderzijds authentiek dorp. De stranden liggen op een kwartiertje rijden. Een echte aanrader voor wie op zoek is naar rust en gezelligheid.

Perfect holiday with small children

We had a really lovely time at Les Hirondelles. The villa is extremely comfortable and has everything here to make the trip home from home. We especially appreciated the air con on the day when the weather hit 40 degrees Celsius! We were 2 couples with 1 year olds- so we were able to keep in routine at the same time as enjoying our evenings. We also managed a few lunches out and a date night each. Ideal. Weather was gorgeous and local area very pleasant. We found Fitou itself very quiet, but we weren’t in the market for a party, so that suited us. Would certainly recommend.
