Bear Den Cabin - 3 blocks from the iconic Federal Dam and Leech Lake!

Located in the heart of Federal Dam, we may not be on the water but we are conveniently located just three blocks away from the iconic Federal Dam and Leech Lake Rec area where you can fish from shore or take your own boat out on Leech Lake or the Leech River. Many other fishing spots in reasonable distances. Please note, due to the current of the river and the Dam itself, there is no swimming beach located in Federal Dam. However there is one in Sugar Point or down by Walker. Also, please note there are no restaurants or grocery stores in Federal Dam. There are multiple restaurants as close as ten miles away, and the closest full grocery store is a 25 minute drive.
We are also just blocks away (walking distance) from the Soo Line Trail north, a 150 mile ATV trail that's great for hiking, biking, or bringing your ATV's.
We have two rental cabins on the property as well as a Gift Shop and Bait Shop. We have room for parking for truck/trailer or truck/boat.
Our cabins were built in 1950 and have been completely renovated in 2022!
Each cabin is identical in layout and can sleep up to four guests, with a queen bed in the bedroom, twin bed in the main living area, couch in the living room that folds into a full bed, kitchen table with chairs, and a full kitchen. The bathroom has a full shower stall.
We have pots/pans, silverware, dishes, cooking utensils, toaster, and 5 cup coffee maker with filters in the kitchen. Hair dryer in the bathroom
Smart TV's in the living rooms.
The party making the reservation must be the one to check in and be staying during the reservation. Check in at the Gift Shop between 2 - 7 pm. Check Out is 10 am.
We allow pets in the cabins with pet fee, but they must remain leashed, picked up after, and not be left alone in the cabins or tied up outside unsupervised.

This is a vintage cabin that has been updated with much attention to detail - charming and comfortable. Tiffany was a thoughtful host with great communication. 5 plus stars!

We thoroughly enjoyed on stay in the Bear Den cabin. It was perfect amount of space for the 2 of us. The place was very clean and neat. The use of a bait shop right on site was extremely helpful as we fished each day. We give this place a 10/10.

Great place for what we needed. Had a wedding in Bemidji (about 45 minutes away), and this was more affordable for a group of 4 than a hotel room for 2, plus a lot nicer from the experiences others in the wedding described. This cabin provided exactly what my group needed, and the hosts were more than accommodating!

Newly remodeled cabin, perfect for 2 people. Smart layout and good use of space in the footprint. Had everything we needed in kitchen and bath. Great spot we used as a landing pad and took other side trips from there. Owner very easy to work with and super nice!

We enjoyed our stay at Bear Den cabin. The cabin is cozy, clean and comfortable with easy access to Leech Lake. We look forward to returning and spending more time in the area.

The cabins are great places to stay. Clean with unique decore. We had everything we needed. It is a small cabin that works great for a small family or couple. The manager was very helpful and friendly. She referred us to great services (boat rental, etc).

We truly enjoyed our stay at Dam Cabins. Tiffany was an amazing host. The cabin was as described, nicely updated, clean and comfortable. We didn’t have any issues with anything. Not even any flies or mosquitoes in the cabin. It was a nice and quiet getaway without all of the noise of lots of other guests. Peaceful. Our dog had a blast hanging out by the fire and playing in the yard. We will definitely be back!

Perfect cozy cabin that is pet friendly if you need a place to stay close to the big lakes. Not much to do in the immediate area, but worked perfect for me to drive to Winnie to fish or Leech lake. Great updated cabin for the single person.

The cabin was just what my wife and I needed for a brief weekend stay. We appreciated the minimalist approach and loved the renovations that had been done to upgrade the place. Communication with the host was quick and efficient. Barring an issue with one of the window latches not latching and flies finding a way to get in, we had a great time. Would recommend for any couple interested in staying near Leech Lake or Walker. For those wanting to be near downtown Walker, keep in mind that it's a 35-40min drive, but you have a chance to see some incredible scenery along the way, especially in the fall.
