Idilio, historia y naturaleza: todo en un mismo lugar
- Drengestua was built around 1830 as housing for the farmworkers at Futegarden. Today, you can still find their names carved into the log walls—a living reminder of the people who once lived here. The house takes you back to the Empire era, with warm shades of brown, green, and light beige throughout the building.
The exposed log walls give the rooms an authentic atmosphere, with wooden floors and ceilings. Even the wall panelling has its own history and originally came from the farm building. We've carefully selected the furniture to harmonise with the house’s distinctive character, while letting its historical spirit take centre stage. The house sleeps 4 adults, but we also warmly welcome families with children. For example, 2 adults and 3 children can stay comfortably with us. There’s room here for guests of all ages.
The house sits on a traditional farmstead with its own garden, which forms part of a larger green area. Hedges and trees make the garden cosy and sheltered. Behind the house, you’ll find a cosy seating area where you can enjoy long summer evenings with barbecues and views of the peaceful surroundings.
Drengestua is idyllically situated in Hornnes, with nature right outside the door. The Otra River, Southern Norway’s longest waterway, offers fishing, swimming and outdoor activities. The area has wonderful walking trails and beautiful wooded areas. Fennefossfjellet and Masi/Laugefjell offer vantage points with panoramic views. Hornnes Camping has a sandy beach for swimming and paddling. The hosts’ family lives in the house next door, but you’ll have complete freedom and privacy. Should you need anything, help’s never far away.
