Kirkhill is the worst place there is no staff at all at the place and no one to assist and property is very far from edinbrugh and no cab will come to this property to pick up because it is very very very far and inside like jungle no lights even in the way to this place, I was to scared to this place and the keys was kept in the locker and the gave us the locker number wrong and we had to call them again to ask the number and the room was not quite good no amenities no neatness it’s a big disaster and I booked for 3nights but I checked in 10pm and I checked out next day morning at 8am as soon as I woke up not suggestive to anybody

The room was clean. Their were no staff. There was a self check in / check out procedure which was easy to follow. Other more regular guests were helpful. There was tea/coffee facilities in room. Kitchen facilities meant food I'd brought could be prepared. Enjoyable stay.

Great place to stay with kitchen facilities. Room was great and so was the bed, coverings and pillows. Cold room as main heating not on with small heater in room that took the chill off. Water pressure good but getting a hot shower was a challenge but if you tired it right you got one.

Beautiful old house, but there is only a portable electric heater to heat a large room! Room was freezing all night. Portable heater could not warm an area 2 feet away. Also, no Internet in the rooms, you can pick up the wifi down stairs. Would not be such a big issue, but cell data is very spotty. You're forced to go to the common areas to get on the net.

AVOID

The room was in terrible condition — damp and mouldy, with spiders, moths, and webs throughout, and even a rat scratching inside the walls that kept us awake all night. By morning our clothes smelled strongly of mould, and we checked out immediately as the conditions were completely unacceptable. On top of this, there was no hair dryer, no kettle, only a single cheap plastic hanger in the closet (making it impossible to hang our coats), a random can of beer left in the drawer, and even a dehumidifier pot full of stagnant water on top of the closet, clearly unchanged for months. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had.

Very, very quiet. Large house. Use of facilities, kitchen, hot tub etc. WiFi not too great, no freeview TV, bed and pillows too firm. Overall ok.

Stay was very unique and cozy, and the staff was as nice as could be during the stay. Its a very old building, so you can hear all the neighbors rather easily, especially early in the morning. When researched online, I saw the town was about 25 minutes from Edinburgh, which seemed reasonable for getting rides or taking the train. However, finding taxis and Ubers to and from the the city proved more difficult. If you're looking to go to the city, I wouldn't recommend staying here. If you're looking for a quiet stay away, it would be very pleasant

LOVLEY BUT URGENTLY NEEDS INVESTMENT/ ATTENTION AS IT COULD BE FANTASTIC as both myself & my partner agreed that this has the potential to be a stunning location & venue if done correctly......HENCE THE LONG REVIEW BUT NOT THERE YET. On arrival George was very helpful & pleasent to help with are booking in & key pick etc. The venue itself is a fantastic building both inside & out & in a lovley location. Are room was very spacious & clean Whilst beds appeared to be quite new they where very buget. Plug sockets was a multi extention just placed on floor. Bedroom window where sash windows with opening mechanism broken.We were lucky that we had brilliant weather but had to wedge window open to allow badly needed air ventilation. Bathroom. This was clean but again had a role down blind to provide privacy but this was broken & widing mechanism again not working. Downstairs Area Again fantastic oldie worldie decor with a grand piano & beautiful set out dinning area.But all furniture/suites & carpets in this area in need of professional fabric cleaning. Kitchen Area Well stocked & seemed to have most things needed & clean but again needs decorating & needs period update Conclusion would we come back & stay again? .... NOT IN ITS PRESENT STATE. But once completed tastefully & correctly would be lovley to revist then has it could have the potential for a real whoow factor.

The room was terrible. The bed was even worse. Mattress was so soft we could feel the bottom of the bed. The pillows were so flat we had to go out and buy some pillows for it didn’t eat. Staff didn’t know who is staff all in all I would not go there again

Not worth the money

We arrived to find the window wide ooen and not able to close, phoned countless times, they arrived at 8:30 eventually to fix it. There was no hot water and the shower was filthy. We landed up having to all chair the double bed as bunk bed was broken and unsafe. It smelt mouldy and was dirty
